@@floofthebassplayer put new strings on my bass the other day & because i failed to take my time the sound on E & A was awful took about 10 mins of turning the machine heads to get the strings sounding "ok" (Dunlop Marcus Miller strings super bright 45s,, got them for £15 at an event in 2019 the rule here is to take your time making sure you get a tight even bind the slower is the better when replacing or installing strings
Hey I’m new to bass, what’s the difference between flat wound strings and round core? Should I invest in flat wound? And what is a good affordable amp 20-50w preferably, keep up the great content!
I actually have a video on that exact topic coming on Wednesday, the short of it is this: Round wounds have a tendency to be brighter, they're wound with a round wire (hence the name). They're good for aggressive tones, slap tones, or a decent universal sound. Flat wounds have a tendency to be a bit warmer, sacrificing a bit of top end for warmth in the lows and low mids. You hear it a lot in Motown and R&B music Of course they can blend over to each other with EQ and shit and blah blah blah. In the end it's up to you and your ears lol. In terms of the amp, Rumble 40. Good amp, affordable, get's good tones. I wouldn't sleep on the Ampeg and Hartke stuff but to me the Fender is so easy to get and so easy to handle it's a nice beginner amp
