This is what games will look like in 10 Years The future. Artificial intelligence. Virtual Worlds. Gorilla tag girlfriends. The future is a scary place. Thankfully we're in this together.
I would like to point out that for VR, we do already have working concepts for gloves that stiffen when grabbing things, omnidirectional treadmills (also KatWalkVR’s slick dome +mouse shoes), and headsets are progressively getting smaller as time goes on. Cords are the biggest issue with high fidelity headsets right now. The Index being the biggest one that comes to mind. You’re constantly tethered to the PC with that
I have seen those but I was more predicting that VR gloves would be the norm in 10 years, right now it’s still a very niche and uncomfortable way to play games
@@apoxfox very fair. I hope that the whole stiffening tech catches on in some sort of haptic way though. It’d be cool to actually be able to simulate holding actual objects in game
@5:15 There's been haptic feedback gloves in development for a few years now(at least they were shown off a few years ago) and they have a type of hydraulic system to allow you to feel things in vr. Those types of gloves coupled with camera hand tracking will be more commonplace than controllers. I mean you can even add some touch sensors to the glove itself to act as buttons instead of solely through hand tracking. There's quite a few that have been announced nowadays though, so they're probably pretty far into development now
I feel the same way about your opinions and predictions regarding vr. I genuinely believe that the best game I will ever play in the future will be a vr game, but one that comes out in multiple decades. Imagine a game like modded skyrim, with a bigger world, more to interact with, more going on, realistic graphics, and a full motion tracking body suit with no clunky headset. If I could suit up and login to a game like that where I could fight someone in realistic hand to hand combat without actually getting hurt, that would be pure gaming bliss.
I honestly don't think this is the "Golden era of video-games". Quite the contrary. Many games follow the standard "AAA cinematic" template, which ruins the fun, Starfield just came out to be a disappointment, E3 just died, Game Awards is a joke, you have Sweet Baby inc. ruining what could be decent games. I would very much prefer games to focus more on making gameplay fun, with stories made for escapism, and graphics focusing on art style instead of photorealism.
I totally see where you’re coming from, I more meant that it’s been a rapid evolution of games. I have a feeling we will look back at these years a decade from now and realize how good things were (as things always go)
