I went for a bash on the 275 having been informed by Nick (the regular 275 driver) earlier that day that ELC Spryte/Dennis Dart 50521 was on it. It was driving perfectly fine but this bus ran into a few issues at Wheatley en route
Basically, Red Rose is a cowboy independent bus company with all sorts of dodgy stuff going on that is better off not being listed on RU-vid but I will mention what happened on this particular occasion though.
Apparently the previous driver (not Nick just to clarify) forgot to fuel up his bus the day before after the end of his shift, yet all drivers at Red Rose are meant to do this day in day out, no excuses. He has supposedly done this before with a bus that did the 33 between Milton Keynes and Northampton but I don't know if this is true. At most major bus companies, this would get you fired but not at Red Rose it seems...
Luckily this embarassing blunder was easy to fix once the mechanic arrived in the Red Rose support van from their depot near Dinton. Of course, it took him a while to get to Wheatley but eventually we got there
In the end, the bus was refuelled, managed to start up again and we continued all the way to Wycombe running 45 minutes late. Remarkably, the bus performed just as well as before, as if nothing happened to it at all!
Both the driver and mechanic finished late that day but thankfully the bus did not need towing and we all got to our destinations on the same bus that we originally got on.
The irony of this however is that it was a silly mistake that was easily preventable and was caused by a very basic responsibility that was meant to have been done the night before but wasn't out of pure laziness. The things you see in this video are what those irresponsible actions result in.
This bus was working Route 275 between Oxford and High Wycombe via Stokenchurch but broke down in Wheatley just off the A40.
