I remember seeing "Cinderella " accidentally fall into a fountain. Talk about thinking on the fly! She was with "Prince Charming " and the two "Stepsisters " and the four improvised dialogue on the spot, staying in character as Cinderella was "Rescued " by her Prince while the stepsisters made catty comments about her accident, such as how "clumsy " she was, etc.

At a department store opening, Disney had sent the exact same woman that played Cinderella at the parks. Two middle-aged women rushed up to her during the event and said with great excitement, "We met you at the park two years ago! Do you remember us?" Cinderella replied sincerely without missing a beat, "Of course! How are you both? Thank you, it's great seeing you again." The women were thrilled at being remembered. Cinderella's expression was sincere and her answer was timed perfectly. She did way better than I would've. My first reaction would've been, "After meeting 50,000 guests for the past two years, you're kidding, right?"

Disney park company sure loves the sin of perfectionism. We are not meant to be perfect all the time and life is not meant to be perfect all the time! "We are perfectly imperfect!" - Monster High. "I know who I am inside. I'm perfectly broken!" - Red.
@Riceball01
@Riceball01 5 лет назад
That may be so but the guests that go to the park expect perfection and that perfection is part of what makes the Disney parks so successful and magical. The people that play these character have to be as close to perfect as possible to convince the thousands of young kids who visit the various Disney parks that they are actually talking to and seeing the actual character they're portraying.

I've worked for Disney 7 years ago and let me tell you, it's no picnic. They half the time are more concerned about money and productivity and could care less about your personal life. If you're not able to fuel the Mickey Mouse Machine with blood, sweat, and no tears, then they have no need for you. I was let go basically because the numbers that they projected that I should be making weren't good enough. Mind you, I was never written up for anything, showed up on time, and was an outstanding employee. Also, we were encouraged to lie to Guests (never refer to them as customers) regarding everything just to keep up the appearance that Disney cared. My kids, nieces, and nephews will never go to Disney World or Disneyland. Fakest place on Earth.

It’s really not easy. I’ve portrayed Cinderella over 14 years ago when I was 19. You don’t get a say in which princess you will be. That was before fast passes and meet ups. The requirement was that you were between 5’4” and 5’7” in height and asked that you have between a bra size between B-C cups at a 32-36 band. Any higher and you were eliminated. You had to at least blend makeup at that time as they had personal makeup artists on site. Nowadays they do not have a makeup artist there, so you have to know how to do it on your own. You must know how to put a wig cap on properly and fit into the dresses. There are more than one copy of a dress, but usually the dresses only came in a triple set. The judges will also ask a series of questions before you about characters and you must give an answer on spot. This happens daily at the park with every character allowed to speak.

I told her that she can come back stage with me and that I would dress her up like one, I took her to my dressing room not allowing her father into the same room, I then proceeded to get sucruity to help this girl, it was by far one of the worst experiences I had at Disney world, and that’s saying a lot...

I used to be a Disney princess between 2014 and 2017 and I loved it. I was Elsa just a few times as a fill in and then I was a back up for mostly Cinderella and Rapunzel and Anna .I was allowed to bring my daughter quite a few times to work with me and everyone helped with her on the days my husband had testing for University. My colleagues even came to his Doctors degree ceremony in costume. As a very young mother this job was great for me and saved me because it gave me self esteem and as I was a back up for others it allowed me enough time for college.I only stopped the job because I moved from Europe to the USA . I saw a Mickey Mouse get mobbed by children, RIGHT after you enter Disneyland's gates. Like 15 to 25 children swarmed him, that the poor guy got afraid, spoke to his manager off to the side, and even took off his Mickey Mouse head so you could see his real face. The guy was almost panicking. The manager spoke to him for maybe 3 minutes, calmed him down...then sent him back out to the "sharks" again. This time the manager tried to calm the kids down, and wisely called Pluto & Minnie Mouse to break the group into more manageable smaller groups

If you’ve never worked for Disney you just won’t understand. What’s being said about appearances in this video and mannerisms is all very true! Even if you are a regular cast member , you don’t have a individual identity while on the clock at Disney. I honestly was so drained after I’d leave Disney at 1130pm. You don’t get to be yourself. Working for Disney can be fun, but it’s also stressful.

I used to work at a nail salon near Disney. A LOT of women that came in were friends with the princess (iykyk) and several were very.... full of themselves is the nice way to say it. That's interesting. Some feel they weren't pretty enough and wore the makeup like armor.

It was surprising to see how accurate this video is. Except for the part that the girls have to all look exactly like the princesses. The actual logic is the girls need to look the same. Because you can't have the same princess with different features. I saw many girls come and go that would change their look and they looked way closer to the features of the animated characters. But they didn't get the job because they didn't look like the girls already playing the part. But well done on this explanation!

I can imagine how hard it must be having to keep your smiles locked on your faces whether you’re marching in the parades or greeting guests at the park. I remember last year I marched in a 4th of July parade that was in my community and I held onto an American flag 🇺🇸 and I would smile, march, wave the flag, and would shout “Happy 4th” to everyone in the audience. And it was scorching hot and I had marched quite a few miles with everyone that doing the parade with me. I even tried smiling the entire time while marching and started to imagine and slightly started feeling the pain from smiling the entire time. But it was still a fun experience for me. But I can only how much harder it is doing all of that while being a Disney character.

I auditioned for Pocahontas. The animated movie. I was told I didn't look Native American enough. Im Assiniboine/Blackfeet. Enrolled on the Blackfeet Reservation in MT. I even speak my Native language & practice our customs. Afterwards I was called back to do the stage show. Was able to show that I could sing. I have studied music, with a degree in Film/TV & Radio. The producers & choreographer asked me to teach them how to Fancy & Traditional dance, like we do in pow wows. During the final rehearsals the producers pulled me aside & told me that it wasn't working out. There was not even the SLIGHTEST HINT OF A PROBLEM!! I was floored. Angry yet not enough for it to make me cry. That day I was dressed in a leather fringed jacket, skirt, Western shirt & boots. As I left the rehearsal building. Erik Estrada from C.H.I.P.S. Fame stopped me as I was walking out. He stopped, grabbed me & began circling me. He told his entourage, "How beautiful! Look! Have you ever seen anything so beautiful?" They dragged him away even when he wanted to get a picture;) I met him later on at San Diego Comicon & he remembered that moment! Well getting back to the Pocahontas stage show. I took my sister & nieces to it. They stole the dancing & my outfit ideas for characters performing in it. The stage show didn't last very long.

I have a quick story. As mentioned non-face characters are not supposed to speak to guests ever. (we have friends that work/worked in various parts of Disney) My wife is a huge Disney fan so we went to the park for a long weekend when she was about 3-4 months pregnant with our first child. My wife also loves star wars and wanted a picture with Jedi Mickey and R2-MK. When her turn came she walked up, then got close to Mickey for a quick hug then nodded and started laughing. One of the pictures they posed was of Mickey pointing to her belly. When I asked what had occurred when she went up there she replied that Mickey (a woman in the costume) had asked if she was pregnant so that pointing to her belly wouldn't be offensive. Was a cute moment and astonishing that a Mickey actor would "break character" but my wife still has one of those pics from that trip on the wall next to her desk.

I worked for Disney World for awhile. Yes it feels wonderful to be a Disney Princess however just because you get picked to be one doesn't make you better than all other characters. Unfortunately some people are not the correct height. Alot of masked characters are super pretty and just are too short. Also, the princesses wear alot of makeup to enhance the Disney princess look. If you auditioned and didn't make it don't feel bad. You're not any less beautiful.
