My experiences with every company, except one, is that. The company is great! The store you work at? Depends. 99% Of people quit their Retail/Service worker job due to Management and Environment NOT the job itself.

I’ve had a friend work at Disney and he told me most of his coworkers or managers were some of the most toxic people you will ever meet. From just rudeness, unwillingness to really show you anything, snitching on you for the dumbest reasons, the managers scheduling being messed up or not giving you days you specifically asked not to work.

I will upvote this video. Not just because it is good, but because seeing Stitch doing pushups in disney jail cracks me up.

The original Confessions of a Disney Employee video was one of my favorites as a kid & I absolutely loved this. Zeurel did an amazing job with the animation. Also, 6:36 VARGFREN!!!!

The math test gave me some slapping urges. I had an interview for a job at McDonald's where they insisted that I would put 2am at my max clock out time. And I really mean INSISTED. And I said "No, I won't work past midnight because that's when the last trains go and I need train to get home." They were so dismissive, saying stuff like "Ok, it would be a significant help for you to get a job" etc... The thing is, they're McDonald's. I knew they needed people at every hour of the day, and I knew she was bullshitting me. And surely enough, I got a job, where they made me work from the earliest time I've put (9am) to the latest (midnight) with a massive 3 hours gap in the middle. And with 3 hours, I didn't have time to properly get home. I could, but I'd stay one hour and then leave immediatly so it wasn't worth it. And so I'd stay in the McDonald's on a 3 hours break. Big companies treat you like a video game NPC, and the way they push you towards it at the interview is repulsive.

The animated parts are on a whole other level.

Gonna be "That Guy" Telling people they're allowed to sit down wherever can be a really serious issue for two reasons. One: Floors are where people walk, and regardless of how often they're cleaned are dirty and could easily get people sick. Two: If its in a crowded area then depending on circumstances such as emergency evacuation you could have put that family at risk of getting trampled (I've been trampled over myself, and I got lucky with just a minor leg injury.) Obviously, preventing any harm from coming to patrons should be the highest priority. That you lied and said one of your coworkers told you this is okay is also a serious issue. If someone is going around misinforming new staff about matters that concern people's safety, it's a high priority to trace that misinformation back to its source or else potentially a large number of people could be trained wrongly and increase the risk of people actually getting hurt. That's way more important than just two people being away from their assigned duties for a while. Personally, I really doubt John put any thought into either of you being out of rotation and was more concerned with why you would involve him in your mistakes.

As a retail manager, my guess is that you don't let people sit on stairs because it's a fire code violation; they could get trampled in an emergency. She probably should have just explained that to you and let your lie about your trainer pass. Maybe she was worried you would get the trainer in trouble, eventually? Idk, devil's advocate.

I was in the college internship program and ended up in outdoor food. I 100% felt the standing all day woes. AND the darkside comment. But let me tell you, working in food - I made 700+ hotdogs on Thanksgiving and again on Christmas day. I smelled of hotdogs. I showered and the water turned to hotdog grease!!!! I could not eat a hotdog for years after the internship ended. lol

My mothers cousin and her husband met when working for Disney. They still say it was their favourite place to work, one in food & beverage and the other in the retail. They go at least once a year (we live in Canada) and even got married there. 🥰
