When I was still doing LDR with my partner, I remember his flight was delayed the first time he came to visit me and somewhere I felt a deep sense that I needed to prepare some aspirin and hot water to help him incase he has a headache. Just then, I received an email from him saying he was developing a small fever. You do develop a deep sense of connection with this person and their needs before they know.
