#hockey #worldjuniors #connorbedard Connor Bedard has the potential to be the next Auston Matthews. You may be surprised that I didn't say Connor McDavid. Here's why.
This video just makes me happy for the talent in the league and coming into the league, Bedard looks amazing and I can’t wait to see him make his NHL debut. Not a fan of comparisons but this kid is something special for sure
Yeah I agree. It's always difficult to say whether or not a player will be just as good as "x" player. I just wanted to point out the similarities with him & Matthews release and how they have the unique ability to beat a goalie from almost anywhere on the ice because of HOW they release the puck. Every year, the talent keeps getting better and better. Can't wait to see what the league looks like 10 years from now.
@@hockeypsychology Bedard projects to be the exact same size as Crosby. That is perfect for todays NHL. I think he will be as good as Mcdavid. Matthews is more like a Stamkos type player imo
Don’t compare him to any players. Connor Bedard will be himself. He will carve his own path. I want him to end up in a hockey city where he will shine and become as successful as Sidney Crosby.
This video was 4 months ago and after watching the junior championships I believe he's the next McDavid. He's getting better and better. He's a human highlight reel.
His top hand drops even further than matthews; it’s like he creates a pitchfork contortion the way he yanks the top of his stick through the flex point, I’ve never seen anything like it before
I think he can create his own shot a little better than Matthews on top of being a better playmaker. I don't know if he'll ever be McDavid good but I feel confident he'll end up being better than Matthews.
One thing I notice is this kid already has so many haters. I think that's a product of the hype TSN has consistently given him over the past 3 years they expect him to be some perfect God so every little detail of his game is nitpicked. Can't wait to watch him light up the league, just hoping my Blackhawks can get him
I watch every Leaf game and a fair amount of Bedard at this point. I think Bedard has a similar elite shot, but his toolbox is a lot bigger. His playmaking ability is a lot better than Matthews - it reminds me of Marner or Crosby. The big problem with Matthews is that when his shots aren't working, he looks invisible a lot of the time. There are games where he does a good job defensively, but I've seen my share of invisible games or birdbrain turnovers to know that if he isn't scoring, you might consider benching him because he does more harm than good. Even in 2023, I've seen him lose many overtimes and games by irresponsible turnovers no 11 million dollar should be making. Bedard is never invisible - he's always trying to create something rather than go through the motions, and he rarely makes bad or risky plays. He is actively engaging his mind on the ice and only passes when he thinks it will make a good play rather than force it when it won't fit. Fantilli looks to be another risky player GMs might want to take a closer look at before drafting at #2. I lost count of his bad passes, risky plays, horrible icing calls, and low quality play at the world juniors in the first 4 games. Not impressed.
@@hockeypsychology straight line mack n mcd are the same if not mack is faster. Mcdavid is just a better skater which is why he won at the skating competition ( he won because of the crossover part behind the nets
Connor will be a force to recon with that's for sure. He will need to grow significantly and with that comes the weight. It will be tough to become the next Matthews or McDavid without those attributes. He is an absolute gem to watch and I for one am really excited to see him make the NHL.
Agreed. I think he’s listed at 170 pounds or something? While I don’t think that will be a major issue since guys like Hughes & Kane have had success being a similar weight, it will certainly make it harder on him. Can’t wait to see his growth.
@@zigfield723 Makar is far better than mcdavid. Mcdavid doesn’t hold shit to makar, that’s why makar single-handedly dominated mcdavid in the playoffs.
I honestly wish people will stop comparing Connor Bedard to Connor McDavid. They are different because their height and size are not at all the same. Let him grow and stop making him a target. However, I have never seen any 17 year old dominate the WJC than Bedard has. All the haters out there are just jealous because of his success and they are not able to do what Connor Bedard does. I personally think Bedard is more like Sidney Crosby because he makes his teammates better. He creates chances for them to score.
He will be as good as mcdavid. He's so young but the second he steps foot in the league he's a top 5 shot. Great feet great vision, few years of strength training and I think we see an ovechkin type young dominant player.
Not to be negative but showing clips rather than your face works better. It’s more interesting watching anything other than a talking head. Rob talks hockey stopped showing his face and his channel grew faster. And that English guy never shows his face. Great content! Keep it up!
@@hockeypsychology he will have a target on him this year, especially coming through BC. Kamloops, Kelowna, PRince George.. Vancouver.. some big nasty clubs he has to face, not like the soft teams a little east lol. Anyways, not denying he's a gem, I think people are going to expect too much out of him.
Austin Matthews has done nothing for the Toronto Maple Leaves in the play offs this season. Thus, he is not even in Connor Bedard’s league. C. Bedard rises to the occasion like he did in the WJC.
@@hockeypsychology hopefully the size won't hold him back since CMD is much taller which translates to more speed on the ice, and wide reach with the puck. Most shorter players in the league nowadays seem to be assuming a grinder's role. What do you think?
..Auston matthews but not Connor Mcdavid?........I guess, he'll never get pass the 1st round in the play offs then....LMFAO............You can tell, this guy is an Auston Lover........A Lowly leafs fan......The 1967 Stanley Cup champs...
Connor Bedard himself said he models his shot after Matthews. Why so angry towards a good player like Matthews. Bedard seems to have qualities from both Matthews and McDavid but they were focusing on his shot today. And it is pretty obvious that it really mimics the same method Matthews uses.
Let's face it, Connor McDavid is the best hockey player the world has ever seen! I'm pretty sure hes from an alien planet where hockey is more important than gold or platinum. And hes probably the worst hockey player on that planet, so he came to Earth to accumulate validation! 😏 So No, Bedard will never be as good as McDavid.
