Can't even imagine how many difficulties the Roma people have to go through just because of their identity! Yet they are trying their best to survive & live a normal life.😢 If this happens to any other privileged ethnicity, the whole media house, literati & modern thinkers go crazy!😮
One thing it can be because Roma don't really integrate in society, I mean that not completely, I was struggling to integrate in school (maybe because I am more introverted, I don't know) so in a way one thing it can be that Roma, especially in the past, were more like free from the let's say "robotic society" . I don't mean that we shouldn't work, it's a necessity to integrate and to cooperate (also to provide ourselves and family), at least to try to be helpful with what we can, based on our possibility. Also for example it's a problem that not all Roma kids go to school either because of money, or other stuff I have not idea, maybe they don't want to learn, there can be many reasons, well yeah, it's a bit difficult to be Roma, but you know, I think that's also beneficial (at least for me) to understand how bad is prejudice and to learn to not be prejudiced against others.
This reminded me of a story of an artist (singer) from Romania, by his stage name *Connect-R* ( I don't listen to his songs but it's just one song I liked it's called "Acasa" (it means Home, in Romanian) , he performs obviously mostly in Romanian, but he is a very popular singer in Romania, and he said he didn't show his true identity because he was ashamed , and he used to wear dread-locks (adopting some afro style to hide his Roma identity) , but after he received an award in 2012 he took of his jacket and had a T-shirt where it was written " Sunt Țigan " ( I am Gypsy ). That's some sad truth, some hide their identity and don't speak about it unless they achieve success in something. Feels like Roma= failure. But it's not true (but I say this personally having my own complexes about this), why should I permit some fools to ruin my mood because of my ethnicity? Everyone becomes a failure if they allow themselves to be, it has nothing to do with ethnicity. We're all people. Rom also means "Man" or in general Human so.. yeah. We're different, but we're all humans.
