Resell is dead due to the economy. Trust me if people still had disposable income they would be buying for resell, taking vacations etc. A lot of people are broke, plain and simple.

There’s only so many times they can retro a Jordan, it’s not resellers who created the decline, there’s literally millions of Jordan’s that have never been worn in people’s closets

I think nike killed the resellers too with their high MSRP on the retros. 200+ for a pair of shoes is getting a little ridiculous, especially with the price of everything else going up, buying dozens of 200+ dollars shoes isn't advisable for most people anymore. That has to do a lot with this problem, a lot of those customers are probably aleo growing up and moving away from shoe collecting, realizing they're just shoes, and the other prominent members in the sneaker community can look like clowns, cringe man-babies, or even worse the sneaker resellers and all the immaturity they have.

As someone who's only had basic everyday shoes I've always been astonished people pay more than MSRP for damn shoes! Like it's something you put on your feet to go to the store and most people around you don't care

I agree that reps do influence the resell market but think it more just comes down to supply/demand. GR sneakers that would have resold are going on sale. There is no longer a consumer demand. Life is getting expensive.

Nike shoes are actually made in factories in Vietnam where people make 50 cents an hour and the total shoe cost is about 3$ a pair.

You said Reps are not real sneakers. They are. They just don't come from the right factory. You can buy leather and dye and make a sneaker exactly as good (or better) than the original, Chinese entrepreneurs are not dumb, if you are ready to pay big buck for something easily replicable (It's not a car, a phone or some tech), you DESERVE to be scammed.

Reseller here for many years and enjoy the hobby. The pandemic resellers ruined how it’s supposed to be. To provide shoes at affordable prices and give the people steals!

So many rereleases and so many new releases, you just have to be patient and you can buy them from Nike, Footlocker, etc. Also reps are so uncomfortable, only like 10% of reps are actually comfortable enough to wear all day.

As much as i love a nice pair of unique sneakers , i never got into building a collection due to the resell market. I remember during the lockdown trying to get me the South Park Towlee shoes but didn't win the Adidas raffle and of course after they launched a bunch of em was on stock X for double the price. Right now im just happy wearing my Yeezy pods for everyday activities and cheap 30$ workout shoes for when im at the gym.

I would never wear fakes, just as a test I bought a few fakes of different Yeezys a few months ago, and as someone who has a lot original Yeezy there’s no fake that can fool me, so crazy how some people can get fooled by fakes, not only are fakes not even close to squishy as original adidas boost but the quality control and knit of the upper is superior compared to fakes.

I actually like resellers. Theres items I want which never had a market for it and because of that I cant purchase the items anywhere. Resale prices maybe suck, but being able to buy a DS shoe from 5,10,15,20 years ago is something that I love. Also, I never buy on stockx

I am smiling about the downfall of the reseller market. The Jordan 6 Black Infrared is due for another release (Last release February 2019) and I can't wait to get that sneaker. In 1991 I fell in love with that sneaker but each release was a huge L for me. Sold out before I could get them.

another great video. i saw a lot of trends in market between 2011-2024 then age of resellers started to see more around 2013-to present it was funny when Ig took off and you start seeing all these ig resellers buying just everything they could get their hands on and made it hard for regurlar customers to get the basic jordan retro colorways that where not popular.

I make good money but in principle would never pay $400 to $500 for Jordans when I could have gotten them for under $200 had there not been scalping.

I’ve been collecting shoes for 20+ years and have hundreds of pairs but I’m at the point where I’m open to reps! Before pride wouldn’t let me wear them! You buy expensive pairs then try to sell them and lose money or you don’t want to wear them because they are expensive so I been buying reps here and there and I can’t tell the difference on feet and if your not planning on re selling then buy reps! I’m no expert on telling what’s real and what’s not but neither are the so called people who legit check shoes lol they are 20 years old and think they know 😂 there’s no guideline to checking no checklist Nike or anyone else gives out to check them.

It’s a 1:1 ratio in my eyes, it looks great, it feels great, and I wear them in October every time when I dress as Freddy. Great video! But u mentioned the apps using pics and that people use fake photos which I’m sure is true but the initial pics are just to list the shoe on website and to somewhat verify it’s in that condition. But they still ship in to be authenticated. So ur not buying from some random photos.

I preordered my first pair of sneakers in my 30s cuz I liked how they looked. Looking forward to getting them on release. But I wouldn’t buy from a reseller, I would wear the shoes and no matter how much I make I wouldn’t be comfortable wearing shoes worth thousands.

I saw a pair of sneakers that cost 90 dollars at the most but the person that was selling them was charging 800 dollars that's why I rather buy my sneakers at the goodwill store because believe it or not you stand a better chance of them being authentic.

Here’s an interesting fact. I took my wife to buy an LV bag at the AD and even they sell fakes. Two identical bags shown, huge discrepancies, things looked off, and the zipper even fell off while we were checking them out. At the AD! No more trust, no more confidence, no thank you. Might as well buy a rep.

What killed reselling is the collapse of Chinas economy and the biggest market. Rise in reselling coincided with the launch of the poizon app in China. They were stupid enough to buy and pay good money for trash mids, lows, highs, 6 rings etc. our group had so many Nike footlocker JD etc managers on payroll we were paying their rent mortgage etc. now they are shipping containers full of dunks, retros, air max etc back here to sell on Stockx goat SG flight to lessen their losses. There’s too much supply and most people in 🇺🇸 don’t give a damn about Jordan’s hype dunks etc. poizon moved so much stuff if you added all platforms here per day they would put that volume to shame. Chinese people were just dumb as hell buying any trash as long it had a logo or jump man logo on it. We made so much off them everyone in our group had a bmw Mercedes Maserati Audi etc. unless a secondary market emerges reselling sneakers and supreme is dead you hustling so hard to make lousy $20 a pair. All the people saying it’s something else don’t know, the market here just isn’t big enough there has to be another market opening buying all that crap.

You are on the mark for about 90% of the vid the only part I disagree with you on is ab shoe brands benfiting/not from resellers. Resellers made it so hard for the avg person to by shoes that they lost interest in buy limited shoes bc on the 1st hour of drop week their gone with out even touching the display so what companies like nike for example started to over saturate stores with these limited shoe like the yellow lightings at my store that I worked at we got over 400 pairs of these shoes the same week and it made it much easier for the avg person to buy them and made it fukn impossible for resellers to sell them over sell and barley at retail in my area yellow lighting were going for ab $180 resell. But this made a problem for nike in the long run bc the hype died and now their just sitting on the wall but now their making shoe more limited again, So idk if thats going to bring the resellers back in action. Side note: theirs so much distrust in the sneaker community that people aren't even sure if nike and retail stores are selling fakes bc employees at these company were swapping the real one with fake on return or before the sell.
