@@STANDUP47 I transitioned from a c1 to a 208 gti, the c1 can be okay fun in the city if you learn to drive it well, but the Peugeot is on another level, pretty cheap too
My missus bought a new bells and whistle spec one like the one you tested and reviewed TR. Retail price £24.5 k approx. But via Orangewheels discounter £20.25k in DSG format. Cracking little hot hatch, she is a quick driver and has done 19000 miles in 15 months. 2nd service due in a week. Car never missed a beat in that time, no recalls ,no rattles and still on original Bridgestone tyres. I get out for the occasional blast ,on my own , in Sport mode around the Wiltshire country roads and its great fun. Maybe not as checkable as Fiesta ST, but far superior in every other way. Useable space5droption, more comfortable in front and back, fit and finish quality is top notch
@@xtremesplit1321 you can put an IS20 turbo in one of these 6c Polo's and run 300-330bhp Or an IS38 and run 350-400bhp. (With the appropriate supporting mods and remap/tune)
@@Tsb22364 I believe so... There's plenty of people in the UK 6C Polo GTI owners groups on Facebook who have gone "Stage 2" & some even "Stage 3" IS20/IS38... On the stock DQ200. Who post their dragy runs... (0-60's, 100-200 times etc...) But, as you've mentioned, they are apparently known to be weak... hence why most people go for the manuals and upgrade the clutch when wanting to push more power. There's a few things you can consider though I believe, a DQ250 swap from a MK7 GTI or R probably would be the most reliable thing to do but I imagine it wouldn't be cheap... But I think you can also upgrade the clutch plates in the stock DQ200 to Kevlar plates and also a TCU/gearbox remap to increase the clamping pressure etc which would also be helpful in trying to reduce clutch slip. I think more than anything, using a reputable/well established tuner (Ecotune for example) would be the safest bet with a DSG, as well as any car (DSG or manual) They are able to alter the maps properly and adjust how aggressively the torque is introduced (since that is what kills the gearbox and clutches in general) to give the DQ200's a chance. But I thought exactly the same though mate, which is why I went for a manual at the time. But as I mentioned above, there's more than enough people in the Facebook groups who have gone Stage 2 and a few Stage 3... So I can only think if you do it "properly" and use the right tuner's & take precautions etc it can't be as bad as I heard otherwise people would be doing it in the DSG's. Best bet would be to join one of the groups to be honest and ask people with DSG's who have gone Stage 2/Stage 3 and see what they've done etc.

This car has really grown on me, it would definitely my second car(bit of an upgrade coming from my parents 2007 Hyundai SUV 😂). I was considering the mk6 golf r(obviously more power and superior awd) but this polo makes more sense, financial wise I'd assume.
TR Hamza if you check car wow they do it, its very short like 60-120 seconds maximum. Just a suggestion moving on in the future as Alhumdulillah your channel is growing and you have a good following.
@@djibby1157 No, i hade no issues. Even after my software upgrade to stage 2 i still had no issues. The gearbox sounds a bit clunky at low speeds but that is completely normal. And you always after some hard driving get that nasty brakes smell, but all part of the fun. I only had the car a year tho before upgrading to a golf MK7 R. The VW DSG are really good, you should not have any issues. This is my 2nd car with a DSG and i haven't had any gearbox issues. Just pick correctly when buying 2nd hand. And always test drive the car, with music off, windows open so you can hear everything.
My wife has a 66 plate in black 5 door she loves it, we are about to extend the Personal lease into a 5th year she loves it that much. It looks good, doesn’t cost the earth to insure and goes well

Enjoyed that. A blast from the past would be a drive in a mk II Polo G40. Not many about and what's left are probably modified as well. I had a GT many years ago and that was great. No power steering though!!😆All the best, m8
Thanks for the video on this car it’s made me really want to buy one to be honest I was thinking of going for the 1.4 dsg version, but what’s the difffence apart from 11bhp difference?? 1.4 dsg is 180bhp and the 1.8 dsg is 192bhp
the 1.8l is a detuned golf motor, its way more reliable, less engine strain, more power opportunity, easier for parts, in general much better than the 1.4 tfsi, both the DSG's are terrible though, if you want a dsg thats decent go up to a golf, otherwise stick to the Manual in the 1.8l turbos :D
These cars are underrated for power by VW most are making over 210HP particularly the newer models, also it is about as fast as the Golf GTI if not quicker off the line

@@41ex I haven't driven a 1.2 Polo, so I'm unsure of the differences, but my previous car was a 1.0 VW Up! which should be fairly similar to the 1.2 Polo. The difference between the Up! and the Polo GTI is massive. GTI handles better, much better quality interior, obviously 3x the BHP and the torque is amazing. Still no regrets to this day
Smack on comment about steering wheels. Feel appearance and rim thickness and material.....it really makes a difference. So too on a manual car the gearknob......
Can you do a video on a good first car that could be bought on a budget with reasonable insurance in places like Birmingham lool or something? A video of that type?
I love red and black, not particular fond of blue. So I wish the R had red theme as well. I mean they could make the R a bit more aggressive then it is now instead :). Like the R400 concept car :)

I am very fortunate that I woke up for Sehri otherwise I wouldn't be able to see your review until very late tomorrow. This was a video I was dying to see and now that you have reviewed it, it has given me a proper insight to the car which I do not get with many youtubers who have done the same. The polo gti is a nice car, fantastic car in fact, but it if wasn't for the golf R, I would probably look at the older ones on the user market. I know the polo serves a different purpose, but as a driver and a car enthusiast, I would much rather have the bigger meatier 300 bhp car! Also if you can bro, try get your hands on a Renault Clio rs220, I heard they are pretty nippy cars. I would love to see your verdict on the car as it is a car I am considering. If you would review it, it would save me time from having to test drive one as I strongly belive in what you say in your videos and your overall verdict on cars are pretty much bang on. Glad you enjoyed it bro! Yeah you're not alone on that thought, I'd get a used Golf R for not much more, but then again some people get this for its lower running costs I guess! Currently drive a 1.2 polo 2010 model but saw a 2017 Manuel Gti polo for sale in my local vw dealership. can't decide either to buy that or wait for the mk6
I bought the 6r gti at 18, and kept it throughout uni, 23 now and i tell you what i just cant bring myself to sell it. Cheap insurance, quick and its specced up with everything you could want on a car. For a first car i would 100% recommend. I think if you're a bit older like i am now I would look at cars the next level up.
mrjaffa1013 when one thing happens it tends to happen again in a short time imo. I've had my car for 8 months, scratched the underside of the front lip spoiler once and the next morning it happened again.
Don't get the DSG! I have one and it failed 3 times already. The seven speed DSG for this model and the previous model (1.4) are very prone to fail. Will develop a clutch shudder around 30 000km. So I had 3 DSG replaced. First it was the metatronic unit, second was the clutch (cause it rides the clutch in second gear and wares it down) 3rd, the bearing around the shaft where the gear shaft exits the box failed (metallic grinding noise from left drive wheel). I have the 2018 model now so far so good but it only has 6700km ATM so who knows its early days.
TR Hamza No, I agree, peak torque in this engine is 1500-4200rpm I believe, however it'll rev to 7k-ish. By endless torque I mean enough for road use, tap the throttle and you're at/over the speed limit
been looking for a review on this car. I am looking to either HP or PCP at the moment, but noticed I could pick up a low mileage polo GTI 2015/16 at 11.5k-12k? Is it even worth considering getting a golf GTI or just a polo. I could afford a polo whereas Golfs an extra 5 bags. Any ideas? Rate the vid too bro
