Tiberian sun was my first ever RTS and holds a special place in my heart and soul. The esthetics, the industrial vibes, the futuristic atmosphere, the music, the coloring schemes.
Yes, it's a visual aesthetic masterpiece. And in terms of sound too. And in acting, and in cgi videos. And in gameplay. My favourite game too. The only downside is that an enemy AI is easy when you know the game as good as the back of your hand.
Remaster is mostly so it can run on new systems with new gpus and stuff like that, having support for higher resolutions, better controls etc, it doesnt automaticaly mean full rework of the game. Check how they remastered Stronghold 1 definitive edition, its perfect @@mikeylitchfield4651
@@mikeylitchfield4651 I wholeheartedly agree, I have continuously been playing these games from the end 90's early 20's. the graphics is timeless, atleast when compared to when they started 3d games, for instance Command and conquer generals I loved that game when it came out. gameplay wise it did bring alot new to the table, but now when I look at it my eyes bleed hahaha. I do think some remasters was done really nicely, for instance starcraft and BW, very true to original, the C&C and RA remaster is acceptable - I really appreciate full screen capability and to play on modern monitors without having to play in small box. The diablo2 remaster sucks!!! :D
@@mikeylitchfield4651a graphics remaster is needed. I do NOT want a remake which seems to infest the video game world these days. All that's needed is a graphic touch up and leave EVERTHING else alone.
When I was 6 I got cancer, and i remember for over a year plus fighting cancer in the hospital and being locked not just on my floor, but locked in my room. (due to having such a low immune system from the chemo) I remember playing this game non stop with my dad by my side for many nights in that damn room. Thinking back on it I wouldn't change it, and honestly wish I could experience something like that again with my dad. I am now almost 29 and still play this game every so often.
The music, that EVA voice, the outerspace sci-fi vibe, Man this is why TS will forever be my favorite masterpiece by Westwood. Even the newer Tiberium Wars gives less the hype imo.
They nailed the environment imho and that's what made the difference. In TS you actually felt like you were fighting on a transforming landscape, slowly morphing the planet into an alien-like one. Ion storms, powerful visceroids, tiberium fiends, veinhole monsters, mutants and other tiberium based life-forms like the devastating Floater, plus the grim landscape with tiberium infected trees and abandoned buildings... All that made it feel like you fighting Nod/GDI on not just a living, breathing map, but a map that was also out to kill you as well. No other RTS game has been able to replicate that sense of dread, fear and despair from merely exploring the map. In TW, the direction taken for tiberium where it crystalized and no longer terraformed the planet the same way changed that feel for the maps. The maps were benign with only the tiberium fields alone being neutral hazards to units. All the mutant life and heavy ion storms were gone. The new weakened visceroids were all that were left.
@@whitehavencpu6813 what an amazing take man I appreciate your opinion ❤️ truthfully agree and even though I liked Kain's rath it's still got nothing on this
God I miss these games. C&C and of course Westwood were so much fun! Don't forget the nice music from the whole C&C franchise. The music composed by Frank Klepacki is still fresh and sounds great. No wonder he still performs live and throws people into ecstasy.
I can't even put into words how good this looks. Mods of these games that touch the graphics never seem to get it right imo but this... is unreal. This is the game I'd expect them to put out today. It really grasps the desperate futile intensity of Tiberian Sun... Amazing work and a great video to showcase it
This is actually a really good mod, I've never seen it before but it addresses quite allot of things such as the ability to build gaurd towers prebuilt with the guns on. The special effects on the mass weapons of destruction look great! Love the AC-130 too! It feels like a more polished version of the actual retail version, the Mammoth Tank looks so much better!
This single game made me fall in love with the RTS genre although there has never been another like this one ever. All subsequent c&c games were less than TS. TS is great because it adds a world around just 2 factions fighting each other. It added city life and tiberian creatures, you could take over city hospitals and buildings or level the cities with artillery. Humans who stood in Tiberian fields would turn to liquid metal creatures that were harder to kill than machine opponents. There was also alien lore. Very epic game that I wish win10 could run effortlessly
Just this week I replayed both GDI and Nod campaigns for Tib Sun and Fire Storm for the first time in probably 15 years. These games captivated me as a kid in 99, and I continued playing them and replaying them with a buddy as a teen in the 2000s. Fast forward all these years later, and I still periodically text that same buddy random lines from these games: "Define favourable outcome Cabal. THEY ALL DIE. That'll do." Anyway, I was shocked at how well these games hold up 20+ years later, even compared to modern RTS's. I didn't know what to expect going back in, and wasn't sure if I was just placing these games on a pedestal for the sake of nostalgia. Sure some missions are frustrating, but the games still play damn well, the graphics and art style are beautiful, and they have arguably the best sound track of any of the C&C games (I'll die on that hill). No other sound track better depicts a war torn, desolate alien earth on the brink of collapse. For years I still catch myself randomly humming "Valves." Hell even the corny live action scenes and story are pretty fun and I COMPLETELY forgot they secured Michael Biehn and freaking James Earl Jones for this game! All this is to say, it brings me such joy to find this game has such a strong cult following, and see it getting the love and attention it deserves from a dedicated community of modders and players. It never even occurred to me until stumbling across your channel @zoom3000 that these game even had mods, especially ones that ooze (Tiberian shine?) of such quality like this one. I look forward to breathing new life into my love for the Tiberian franchise with these - thank you for sharing!
The theme, coloring and unit design choices in this game is just terrific. I'm no sci-fi fan at all and stuff like starcraft is way too much for me but this to me just feels automatically cool asf!
I'm pretty sure they are going to remaster tiberium sun and RA2 in a similar package as the remaster of tiberium dawn/RA1. Was it not announced or leaked or something?
I mean for EA I'm pretty sure it outsold command and conquer 4 big big big time reviving the series or atleast proving lots of people still want more of the old school rts gameplay rather than the dumbed down bs tiberium twilight was .... It is a crime against the series, let's not even mention the mobile game
@@SomeoneStoleMyHandle911 If a remaster of Tiberian Sun and RA2 was made, i doubt they are in a similar package as tiberium dawn/RA1, tiberium dawn and red alert 1 was almost the same game, many units are the same from game to game, Tiberian Sun takes more work on its own than tiberium dawn and red alert 1 combined, and its the same things for red alert 2; and it's possible that it's precisely because people are expecting a new package with the 2 game in one that we still don't have a remaster of Tiberian Sun and RA2, a package of 2 at a reasonable price would not be profitable enough compared to the amount of work to be done, compared to the first remaster.
If you take the best bits of all these mods, one can create a monster super mod that can rival a full blown game. Some of these bring the original TS vision to its full potential!
That was the kind of game were you had to be aware of EVERYTHING that was going on or you were destroyed in seconds!! Just soooo awesome and nostalgic! Great video!!
All those years. Nothing beats the classic Tiberian Sun's unique atmosphere. They made so many games but I constantly find myself returing to this one. And this mod is definitely up to someting.
Do you know how much work would have to go into remastering those? Like TD/RA combined x50. There's no way in hell they could list a price big enough to even recover all their overhead loss, much less make any profit whatsoever. If TS made a return they would need to be standalone products.
impressive gameplay-video. I immediatly wanted to play this mod myself. on my journey to install everything I found out, that this mod is actually for RA2, not for tiberian sun. because of that it includes a nice seperation between buildings, base defenses, infantry and vehivles (and aircraft and ships in this mod) instead of the way it is shown in this video. I like it. way better organised. some may not. at my first game i noticed, that everything looks great. there are gdi ships (and supposedly nod, too. havent played nod, yet). awesome new aircrafts. the harvesters seem to harvest faster. but that is just a feeling after my first game. And then there are the small changes, too, that makes this game so much more enjoyable. for example now there is less micromanagement needed for building base defenses for gdi. either build a anti-inf, anti-tank or anti-aircraft turret. only one time you need to build something, not two times like in the vanilla game. upgrading the gdi power plant to full also needs one build less. great. one more step towards perfection would be to click on the powerplant you want to upgrade and to initiate the upgrade from directly there instead of going throw the build meny on the right side, search for the upgrade option, then wait for it to finish, go again to the finished upgrade option, then scroll to the power plant of your choice, and plant the upgrade onto it. things like that. When building the building for the seeker and the ion cannon, the appropriate upgrades for those weapons where missing. so no ion cannon and no seeker drone for gdi, as it seems to me. but. it ain't nothing like this video. maybe I need to try and play this exact map? maybe the devs needed to take back some of there features because not stable enough, so the newest version of this mod I downloaded (14. Jan 2023) does not have that many features then is shown in this video? still. impressive mod nontheless. what is the name of this map? still looking for the name of it .. thanks for the game to everyone involved of making this mod happen. much appreciated :)
1999...the golden year of RTS imho: August 27th - Tiberian Sun September 28th - Homeworld September 30th - Age of Empires II Three of the best RTS games EVER made, all released in one year!
When I was a kid I couldn't pass the 'no base missions' as they were too hard for me back then. I saw all those buildings on manual of the game, all these units... This shit was so mysterious then. I just loved playing couple first missions of campaign. Later I discover custom game (skirmish) but first memories ale always golden.
Tiberian sun has an atmosphere unlike any other game. Later installments were also great (Red Alert 3 is a masterpiece I grew up with), but this one... Man.
This was the game that I got as a bonus when I got my first pc . Me , my father and my brother stood all night and played tiberian sun . It will always be a special game to me , and especially since I never got past that mission where you only start with two commando units 😅 . Kane lives ! :))
Getting up early on a Saturday morning and getting breakfast as quick as I can so I can sit in front of the PC and play this game. It's some of my most cherished memories.
I still remember playing this back in the early 2000's on the xwis servers i even remember the clans i played with wombus/haribo/rescue/WWC aka westwood clan
Yep most of the C&C series is awesome, just a few titles they could have done without. Tiberian Sun was the best in my opinion. Loved playing a 4 multi player in LANs.
Tiberian Sun was special to me because it was unapologetic in it's portrayal of war. It was bloody, gritty, didn't try to glorify it at all. You made a choice between two tribes and did what little you could to make it a better world. It was able to draw you in and in a way make you part of it. This here looks beautiful, polished but still retaining that atmosphere. The kind of thing I would expect in a remaster, but better.
The subtle sound effects sound more natural than the obnoxious original ones. The GDI units are more hefty looking making them quite intimidating. This mod captures the gritty warfare and environment of the 2nd Tiberium War. C&C3 felt too clean compared to Tiberian Sun. I wish to see however a mod where there is a proper scale of infantry and vehicles to buildings.
The TS modding community is like a gentle reminder of the existence of God's love. No other game so far has had the same kind of atmosphere that I absolutely crave
When it come to the game and its maps Tiberian Sun - Firestorm is very amenable to editing providing that you respect the 100 unit rule and pay attention to detail especially with the maps.
Beautiful game with many strategic elements. Would definitely buy a remastered balanced version. You have the Hunter seeker, you have ice maps where if not careful you can lose your heavier units or harvesters into the water. Nod had the capacity to drill up into your base so you had to lay down concrete slabs. You had weather elements. I like how GDI had these cheap base defense towers then you buy one of 3 different type guns to place on them. A lot of cool things going on. Game was not balanced. The nod as always had the advantage. Moronic that the Nod had an artillery unit and the GDI did not. That was fixed with the expansion.
I remember playing Tiberian Sun like there's no tomorrow in 2000, those were the good old days. It would be nice to see if a modern mod for the game to be able to make the side bar menu instead of the right side is on the bottom. I remember seeing early screenshots of the game with that layout in magazines.
The way they redid the ion cannons to be more lethal is just....*chef kiss* In vanilla I used to spam hunter seeker uplonks since they insta kill whatever they hit, and ion felt underwhelming. Nice improvement 👏 👍
Everybody is sentimental for the old Westwood but many of the best CnC games were created after EA bought them out for $122M in 1998 including this one. Westwood still remained autonomous until 2000. Still I consider Generals and CnC 3 great games but still flawed with some of the balance problems of the past.
I think if they made a remastered version for Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun, it would be 20 times more successful than the remastered version they made for the older games.
Alot of my peers seem to prefer Red Alert 2, and while i still like that game, cool charecters, fun story. Tiberium sun had blood, really strange music, i loved the all around darker tone. Its always been my favoirite C&C.
