This sounds amazing Felipe!! I use the Shure Beta 91a, it works wonders! Just that one mic placed inside the cajon gives the bass and the snare! The Shure SM57 is a very versatile mic as well! But do make sure to try the Shure Beta 91a! PS: Love your videos! You're doing a great job! ☺️👍🏽

I use a Sennheiser e902 kick drum mic. Nice low end, but without the exaggerated bass boost and clickiness of other kick mics like akg d112, shure beta 52a, or audix d6, or even sennheiser e602. It's a little more expensive, though.

Hello Felipe, love the comparisons! Hey, maybe an idea for a future video or maybe you already have somewhere but I would love to hear your thoughts on mixing specific mics for recording and especially live setups. Most of the videos on RU-vid are for recording but I would love to see mixing tips to communicate to the sound guy when you play at a place that doesn't have a lot of experience with cajon. Thank you for the content!

Hi, Chad. I have some experience live and in studio. You will often encounter "kick drum" mics like akg d112, shure beta52a, audix d6, and sennheiser e602. They are designed to boost the very low frequencies and specific high frequencies for a "scooped" sound that's perfect for kick drums. But for cajon, those mics might need a mid boost and/or bass cut to sound good. That's why adding a 57 in front is so great. Then you can just blend the two mics to taste. I hope that helps. Great video, Felipe, thanks!

Hello, very interesting. Can you give me an equalisation suggestion using only one SM 57 on the back? The cuts to be made on the mixer in the various frequencies to have a nice low and precise sound and clean and clear highs? Thank you very much. 👍🏻
@CajonMaster
@CajonMaster Год назад
It depends the room you are playing it. If it's a small space 1 mic in back can be enough. The EQ will depend of the cajon model, the mixer you using and how echoing is the place, difficult to say precisely the eq parameters. What I suggest is to position the mic keep the channel flat and start testing the options.

Heya! Just wondering, what cajon did you use in this video? Also wanted to ask. I've been playing percussion for 9 1/2 years, and am just starting to play cajon. I'm borrowing one from a friend at the moment, but want to buy one for myself at some point in the near future. I am looking at the Tango line, and the Buleria line. I know they are different with the number of strings and such in the back and also in the Buleria line you can tune them. Is the price difference between the two a big difference for the quality? I know they're both artisan but still. Just looking at what is the best to buy for long term.
@CajonMaster
@CajonMaster 3 года назад
Hi! thanks for you message. The cajon you see in this video is the artisan Cantina line. The Tango is a great cajon for the price. The Buleria is superior in material and sound, and it also comes with ajustable string in the inside. Between these 2 I would go for the Buleria - geni.us/zKyHFo
