Honestly, I wish you would have powered it up and re-ran the test with a level 50 shadow mewtwo, to see the difference between a level 40 shadow and level 50 shadow mewtwo. Love the content Brandon.

Honestly as we have seen the shadow Mewtwo is stronger than a L50 non-shadow Mewtwo. So really there's no need to level up the shadow to 50 cause the video showed it all. If you're still looking for an answer just simoly skip to 9:20

First off, that has nothing to do with what I said. I want to see the difference from a level 40 shadow Mewtwo to a level 50 shadow Mewtwo. How many more attacks does the 40 take than the 50. How much less time is needed in an actual raid. Rewatching from your suggested point does nothing to tell me this info. Brandon is one of the few people in the world, who makes this type of content, that has the resources to max level a shadow Mewtwo, which in the video he stated he will do later. I would have loved to have seen the comparison now.

Shadow mewtwo is a complete monster. I only have 1 currently at lvl 40 but it’s 14/14/14 IV and I have 3 super rocket radars waiting for shadow mewtwo to come back to get 3 more.

It’s not confirmed but things ALWAYS come back in pokemon go, that’s the way the game makes money. Things might take a long time between coming out but they always come back, and until then my super radars are just gonna be chilling. Only thing I might use them on other than mewtwo is kyogre/groudon. Shadow kyogre and groudon are insane damage monsters too, being on par with their primal versions, so if they ever come out, make sure to get them guys!

But as long as primals work as megas, as that’s what they technically are; You can only have 1 primal at a time, so the best possible team would be 1 primal and 5 shadow for both groudon and kyogre. So not being able to primal/mega evolve a shadow doesn’t really matter.

Hard to run that test accurately since the raid mons don't throw charge moves at any set interval. Sometimes they throw immediately upon gaining requisite energy, sometimes they go well over 100 energy before charge moves start firing off.

I purified a Shadow Swampert that was only missing 3 on defense, but I did it before you could TM away frustration. Still, I haven't figured out how to TM away my frustration over it haha

I got pretty lucky with my shadow mewtwo’s. On is an 87% and the other 85%. So far I have my 87 powered up to 4162. Sadly I need a bunch of xl candy to finish it off, but it is a beast!

One in my class purified a 100% shadow mewtwo bc he thunk that it would get better bc of higher cp and that shadow mewtwo was useless bc it costed more to power up and only had frustration as charged attack (ik you can change during events with elite charge tm's)

There are very few pokemon that benefits from purifying, most of them are pvp usage, bcs their other moves are pretty bad, or single type only (no coverage).

Remember: Even though Shadow Pokémon deals 20% more damage than regular Pokémon it also receives 20% more damage than regular Pokémon.

That 20% more damage received than regular pokémon is actually the reason why you should always purify shadow pokémon, even shadow Mewtwo.

I was wondering since a long time what to power-up and double move between my normal Mewtwo 84% IV or my Shadow Mewtwo with 73% IV (15-12-6 with Frustration already TMed). Shadow Mewtwo is now level 40, just miss 120 candies for his second move 😁. Thank you Brandon for the help you provide to the community 🙏

Hey so question here: Shadow Pokemon attack is boosted by 20% but also take 17% more damage? So there is a 3% advantage to keep shadow pokemon?

No, since Mewtwo have 300 attack that make 360 damages but it’s defense is 180 or almost so it’s like 150

As a PVE player, this makes perfect sense. As a primarily PVP player, I think you can still make the argument for purifying to a hundo. Regular Mewtwo is ranked higher than shadow in both open Master league and Master league classic. I would rather have a stronger Pokémon there and be slightly worse off in PVE than the other way around. Just my take, though

The defense drop to an already glassy Pokémon does make sense to purify it to a hundo. However, the fact that regular Mewtwo can not only be traded for but also put into raids fairly frequently makes it a little redundant to purify a shadow since not a lot of people have had more than one encounter with the shadow form. I understand that not everyone has had an opportunity to catch alot of Mewtwos just in general and there’s alot of people who just don’t care for the shadow bonuses, but why purify such a rare shadow to get a hundo that you could have raided for? Regardless though, this is just MY take on this lol

But the health are much higher on the none shadow, so the test should be how much dmg can it do before it dies. Not how much dmg it can out up DPS. So DPS and damage done are diffrent things. But the none shadow will do more dmg done because it will survive much longer, the shadow have more DPS.

I purified my first thinking I was saving it, kept the second, caught a perfect, powered all to 40, shadow works for attack, but perfect has extra bulk which can work both ways.

The logic here is, if you hit harder (with shadow Mewtwo for example), raid bosses will die faster, and you'll clearly have to take less damage from them. So little bit bulkiness from non-shadow doesnt mean much.
