1:15 - that section was restored only recently. There is this initiative the "National Hauszmann Project" aiming to restore the entire castle district to it's pre ww II glory. - since during the war it sustained massive demage, and after it many buildings were demolished or renovated in simple style.

For sure it is a beautiful city and big enough to swallow the thousands of tourists and a great tram system. But it depends on what you want out of a city. For me, Tashkent holds a far richer history with original buildings and vast boulevards. Buenos Aires is unforgettable for its overall vibe. But closer to home - Skopje, Vilnius, Salzburg, Tromso and Sarajevo are less visited but you absolutely know you have visited a gem when you spend time in these cities.

Laura, next time in Budapest, go to Óbuda, the third city where the city does exist about and where the biggest Ancient Roman excarvation is, in a European capital, outside of Rome itself! Just 15 minutes by suburbain train from Magrit Hid!

I dont find pleasure in walking to see panoramic veiws myself.. . I live in canada which looks very similar to alot youve climbed 100s of feet to see. Good for you though everyone journey is different
