I can't help but view Gale's dialogue here in a bit of a different light. He's afraid of dying because where once he earned Mystra's favor, he has earned her ire. He's not just afraid of death, but the inevitability that he will be forgotten about and his soul wasted away.

@@thecheck968 Technically, mind flayers have souls. Just not of a type that can be used by gods or fiends. They are a weird far realm species after all. But the souls of the creatures they consume in the process of ceremorphosis, those are gone for good. Only reversible with spells like wish/miracle or comparable. Nothing lesser than that. And most of the creatures consumed, wouldn't be seen as worth the effort. No one would be willing or able to pay a lvl 17+ caster to cast this spell to bring back some random refugee, bar wench or daylaborer.
@@ShandoraTheExplorer Pure perhaps (highly debatable), but not powerful. She is a relatively weak-willed barbarian, deathly afraid of magic and not able to influence others well beyond threats of bodily harm or guilt tripping/shaming (the latter doesn't work against those with a stronger will).
Got these scenes for the first time last night and felt so sad because of Gale's. Bro not only has a tadpole, but a magical bomb and he just broke up with his goddess girlfriend, he's really going through it

another scene in recently encountered in my thousands of hours in this game at this point is another scene you can get before entering the grove with gale. he has a mirror image of himself and he’s looking at himself as if he was using a real mirror, before he starts to explain to you a little more about ceremorphosis. it definitely took me out the first time i saw it to see two gales in my camp but it was a fun scene 😂
Note that if you are using a mod to change the appearance of origin characters (I usually like to give Gale shorter hair), then his mirror image may look nothing like him.
@@magister343 In the scene where his illusionary image waits for you in Act II he always shows up with a headpiece for me xD I put a hat or something on him and then make it invisible, forgetting all about it until Act II when suddenly his illusion is wearing it
In the video it’s the first night, that one that you mentioned is the second night. And you can enter the druid groove and pick up Wyll and just save Arabella, but don’t do anything else because when you get a quest to find Halsin/Ethel/Gut/Creche_location it will trigger the third night. In these first three nights will be different lines from characters bc whom you speak order. Wyll have fun dialogue in the second night))) 1 night go to hell 2 night worries about not turning 3 night we are going looking for cure (Halsin/crèche/Ethel/Gut)
It just dawned on me; Astarion is able to tell you twitching and ready to go postal because he is a Vampire. He has spent centuries being starved by Cazador and has to learn to control his hunger. Before he learned to control it, how do you think he acted? We get a good idea from the Spawn in the cells. Astarion truly does relate with the Dark Urge.
@@RazielTheUnborn yep. Plus he'd be the only one actually awake to see Durge having that nightmare because he's actually up hunting for food or woken up by a nightmare about Cazador himself 🥹
@@ShandoraTheExplorer For only a couple of hours. The nightmares last from the moment we lay down to when we get up. Heck, for this sleep, pretty sure depending on the order you talk to companions she states she will stay up a while and for us to get some rest just like Astarion.
Worth noting that the dialogue the companions give on this night actually changes depending on what order you talk to them in, mostly with the other companions commenting on your choice in the first person you talked to that night
@@destinygalearies7382 yep, Astarion doesn't mention Gale if you talk to him first and Shadowheart says not to trust "the pale fellow" if you talk to her second.
it definitely does. I'm on my second playthrough and I'm blown away by how frequently characters talk to each other and intervene in many conversations. In act 3 the most insane thing might be happening right in front of them and they'll be standing there doing nothing and saying nothing. You can tell Larian ran out of time by the last third of the game
@@makiiavely act 3 just overwhelms me time and time again, so many people, so many npcs talking over each other. I can barely make out what each individual is saying. Plus some of them have dialogue that makes you think they might hide a quest but they rarely ever do.
@@CorelUser An entire section was cut from Baldur's Gate, the Upper City, the place where the "brain resides" apparently (when you get to the entrance of the Upper City, you are told you can't go any further by the Emperor), fun fact, you were supposed to go to Ramazith's Tower from the Upper City. I think that resulted in a bit of crunching of content in Act 3, and might've resulted in some dialogue remaining unused. I really hope they add the area in a DLC, this game deserves a DLC, I don't get to enjoy my god mode enough :'D
There is a mod that gives you a little marker if you have camp interactions waiting for you at your next long rest. Really useful if you don't wanna miss anything.
I kind of wonder if she was feeling a little jealous or annoyed because she stuck with you after the crash and doesn't want the other people (who she knows nothing about) to mess with Tav, especially Lae'zel and Astarion... Her coming for Gale like that is strange but, a lot of people probably feel like that about wizards.
@@slayerdwarfify not really rare, just so early in the game that most people didn't do enough stuff yet to actually think "yep, I need to long rest now"
I completely missed those first dialogues at the camp because I didn’t know you can visit the camp from almost any point of the map. I thought I need to get to the Grove to rest. 😅 I was too used to JRPG where you need to buy tent or go to tavern to sleep lol.

I always want to do this but then a lot of the time shadowheart, astarion and laezel are always flaming you like "why tf are we resting so soon" like bruh we just escaped a motherfucking exploding ship yes I want to take a dam nap
I generally do the Grove after the second Long Rest, since I grabbed Withers first and then Karlach second (Withers I found by accident - I just wanted to see what was behind the door at the Beach; Karlach I wanted as early as possible so I looked up a spoiler-free map to her), and that's just the order I do things now.
I love those little habits us players have 😊 anytime I go into the owlbear cave, I climb up and fetch scratch after, then I go see Astarions boar and then jump across the river to get Karlach.
@@YuiFunami I'm fine with their starting spreads. The only one I change stat-wise is Astarion and even then only because I turn him into a Bard. Shadowheart I change to Light Domain but keep her stats in tact. I had before changed Lae'Zel since I like going Eldritch Knight, but grabbing the Diadem of Intellect off of Lump after he falls in battle works better for that.
so fun fact not only did i miss this dialogue, i ended up skipping the tiefling party and killed nere via suffocoation because i long rested at a bad time truly, my run is cursed
I have only ever seen it once and that was when I failed the check with the dying mindflayer and the rest of the party ran away to camp after reviving me :') but since then I always long rest after I picked up Shadowheart, Astarion and Gale to get the "Go to hell" scene xD
@@ShandoraTheExplorer I think I did this exactly once but I wish they had that scene when you long rest after the grove cuz to me it seems a bit funny that you can talk to everyone but Gale about the new information and what will happen after.

Wait do these interactions only happen before you enter the grove? It’s my first time playing and I want to get Wyll so I did the whole Grove battle and recruitment before long resting. I was planning on collecting everyone and then doing a long rest but now I’m not so sure
so far I haven't had it happen after I either entered the grove or recruited Lae'zel because by then you hear about Halsin, or Priestess Gut or the Creche and it gets replaced with the scene where Astarion ponders if Halsin/Gut/Gitch Creche can really help with the tadpole.
Played it two times already and never long rested before grove. Need to do it next time. May I ask what Astarion's outfit is? saw the modlist, thank you.
@@ShandoraTheExplorer Do you know if it's accurate? In the Shadowheart convo you picked the top option which said (Gale 1) (Shadowheart 5) but I only saw Shadowheart Approves pop up in the top corner. Do you know if Gale actually got a +1?
@@ViRaL_Uno yes it's accurate :) there are like a few times when it isn't but those are so rare in all the hours of the game. The Gale Approval doesn't show because I had to cut the top part of the screen to make it full size and not cut off any dialogue options.
