I’m 17 and I’m going through something that I can’t explain. It’s not the obvious teen thing, but a shift in my mental, and spirituality. For me, something that I’ve been doing is getting closer with Jesus, and getting that motivation to do what I want to do and be successful. I don’t want to be alone in the future and be unhappy. I’ve came to the realization that I am stuck with myself from the day I was born to the day I die, so I need to learn to love myself, and appreciate what God has given me. I’m 17 too and Until right now I thought that I could possibly be the only person experiencing this. A Few weeks ago I subconsciously had a shift in my mental and spiritual aswell. It’s taking a positive effect on my physical. With this mental shift also came A Purified and new self righteous motivation, Producing Greater results For myself both physically and mentally. For example, I changed my diet and lost 20 pounds, before this happened I might’ve gotten tempted into breaking that diet with a single bag of chips or candy then I gradually realized I lost that sense for temptation of things I know isn’t right for my mind or body. I’ve always had a Healthy relationship with Jesus but I haven’t always had a healthy relationship with myself. I would do things that wouldn’t allow me to break free of what’s holding me back even though I knew better. I Talk to Jesus and I feel his presence greater now all the time. I Knew that I hated things about myself, things that aren’t necessarily easy to change, but the self hate isn’t there anymore only action. This new motivation is everything that I needed to become the definitive best version of myself. And I’m So Happy God didn’t patch divine timing in this universe because this Video is Definitely A Sign of something far greater For myself because their is no way that this perfectly represents and is aligned my Mental.

I’ve been so weary and given up on myself so much, resented myself for settling, and trying to navigate life as I continue to journey forward. "your enough now" I need to tell myself that. Felt like most of my life I wasnt enough but at the same time too much. Always trying to be what other people would appreciate, Never stopped to think about what I like and what I want. As an adult, I do try to be open about who i am as a person but It comes with a lot of self hatred. I was convinced that in order to be loved, I needed to be overly critical with myself. I couldnt like myself until I earned it. I realize now all I needed was to be told I was enough and will always be enough. I didnt need strict discipline, I just needed love. Spent so many years not just hurting myself physically but mentally as well. The way I treated myself is something I couldn't even imagine doing to someone else. I think about that a lot. If I wouldn't even do this to another person, why am I doing it to myself?
I can relate to you. Sometimes I feel like I’m not enough and not seen but at the same time I’m too much? Also I keep seeking validation from people although I don’t want to.. What I’ve been doing is praying and talking to the Lord about it. I’m learning that what He thinks of me and how He sees me is way more important than what other people think of me. I get this sense of peace when I talk to Him about how I’m struggling because I know he hears me and He will eventually deliver me from this.

Damn, bro! That's the spirit! Loving yourself is largely misinterpreted. I am also an aspiring musician and an athlete as well. Also, I am dealing as well with all kind of fears and limiting thoughts. However, 5 months ago I have started a spiritual journey to my inner self, and I am still shocked at how many layers of conditioning and prejudice I have shed and still am during regular meditations and empathic introspection. Once your focus turns to your authenticity and realize that we are all in the same boat, after all, and that all those so-called "failures" are actually the compass to your actual achievements, only then we are all one step ahead toward our true identity. “Treat yourself like someone you’re trying to help” This really resonated with me because more often than not I feel like I’m pouring my energy into other people so that I can cope for me not pouring energy back into myself. I have a hard time validating or proving to my own brain that I am worth it. That I’m worth being taken care of. More often than not I feel guilty for even wanting better for myself and your words reminded me that this isn’t based in fact and isn’t reality. I owe it to myself to show up for myself and in a way that I would be proud of. In a way that would reflect the way that I show up for my friends and family. It doesn’t make it any less hard, but your words are helping push me in the right direction, so thank you.
Wow man needed to hear that. Im in a season of isolation. Girlfriend broke up after years together. Lost connection to close friends but being alone I find peace and God. Im growing a lot spiritually but I seem to fall back on old patterns of jumping on dating apps because I still find it uncomfortable to be completely alone without much connection. This made me think I need to start loving myself more and love getting to know why I like the way I am and not trying to find validation outside of myself. Its a tough journey but I feel a purpose in it.

It’s uncomfortable but take it one step at a time. Your feeling to go jump to the next thing is showing you why it’s time to embrace being alone. It’s hard at first and some days are tricky but it’s so worth it. You’ll learn to love it and get to know yourself

Being alone prevents you from distracting yourself from your reality and forces you to confront it to overcome. I always remind myself that the bad parts are only temporary. Like you said, you do eventually learn to love it.

I struggle with sexual addiction, and last night, I fell asleep while listening to a video that spoke about how to deal with my issues. It was mentioned that instead of praying for sexual thoughts and urges to go away, I flee from the situation(essentially get away from the location that allows those urges to be acted out. My church minister had mentioned something about fleeing from certain situations and putting faith into action. Now I'm blessed with seeing your video, too. Keep making more content, my man! We really are the only ones that will be here for ourselves 100% of the time.
I really don't think you should pray for sexual urges to go away at all. That makes it sound as if the only way to help yourself is outside via God etc. It isn't. Ther's a cultural reason why you're addicted to sex (it's advertised everywhere) but there is also an emotional a psychological reason. Sex means more than the act to you, it's something else that you are craving. Is it power? Is it status? I have love addiction and what I know about addictions is that they can never be satisfied. That hunger is a craving for something else but it has chosen whatever you can alleviate easily. If I were you, I would start therapy. It's a legitimate addiction and there is a sort of 12-step process, as with alcohol addiction. Also look into meditation and buddhism especially. Buddhism is great because it gives you ways of dealing with the human body and mind. I'm officially Catholic but Buddhism has given me more. What are you running from? Are you in a relationship and trying to cheat or something?
@bluebellbeatnik4945 I will look into the Buddhism meditation. It stems from long-term exposure to sex/porn and self isolation. I've been going to counseling for a little while now and have learned that porn usage for me stems from being exposed to it from my parent at a very young age, and it being an aid for high levels of stress and anxiety. I'm an extremely insecure person and have never felt like anyone wanted/needed me in regards of sex/romance. Porn needs people every day to keep operating. Thus, a nasty habit was birthed quite some time ago. I finally developed the courage to seek help and work on refocusing my mind on other activities that don't involve porn.
I needed to hear this, thank you for being part of my journey to self expression, and self appreciation. I ain’t gonna keep holding myself back, I’m gonna take the steps forward I’ve been so anxious about. I’ve changed so insanely much this year, mentality wise and I’m not done yet. Gonna take every opportunity for growth, because I want to flourish. I’m ready to make change happen, rather than wait for it.

The part where you talked about how you used to feel envious and found that a partial reason you felt that way was because of how you felt about yourself, got me thinking and I realized that envy only exists when you feel you can’t have what the person you are envious of has. If you truly believe you can get what that person has too, envy would never exist. The envy exists only because of the insecurity you have within yourself of not being able to attain what said person has. Like Russ said, “You ever seen a confident person get offended by someone else’s confidence? Me either.”
