Love the video and it's nice to see you get a little moisture. A little tip from a 30 plus year weldor. Whenever possible drill a hole at each end of them cracks. Cracks can't continue to crack through a round hole. Gouging out the crack is great but drill them holes.

Two types of spray booms, 1.Ones who have been welded 2. Those that will be. The length of booms now are so long that they can do some big damage when they move quickly.
@video4sissies
@video4sissies Год назад
Preheating (oxyfuel, propane, nat gas) the metal around the areas you're about to weld will help keep the weld heat from expanding and contracting the surrounding metal as quickly. This will help the metal stay more malleable and take shocks/loads better in the future.
@josephlawless6013
@josephlawless6013 Год назад
Next time you find a crack, drill the ends of the hole before you weld it back up, you can weld the drill spot back in. After you drill the hole look to ensure you found the end of the crack if not it will just continue out of your weld on the other side.

Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. The big bud pulled that payloader out very easy. No problem. Did not even sweat. Where did that hole come from??! Interesting. I would do the necessary dirt work around the pond you showed us. That spillway could cause bigger problems unless fixed. Put that on your fix it list. The old sprayer is coming apart. Has done it’s duty over the years. When will the big brute sprayer be ready??? Sounds like you have seeding and spraying to do yet. Hang in there everyone. Get er done. Thanks for the drone footage at the beginning of the video. Was absolutely beautiful with the music. Thanks so much for that. Colby got her carrots for the day. All for now. Sending prayers and blessings for some rain and moisture for your area. God watch over you all. Thanks The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.

That reservoir is looking good. Watch out for sparks from the grinder and welder hitting the chrome finish on the hydraulic cylinders when you are repairing the sprayer boom. If too many sparks get directed to the same spot it can cause the chrome finish to pit or fall off and tear up the seals. Thanks for the video.

1) For the dam/ reservoir, maybe consult with a dam engineer/ dam rulebook. A short distance of concrete or other material 'half pipe & pipe overflow' might be necessary to take the water away from the dam face and dam crest. 2) I was always told to cover the exposed chrome of hydraulic cylinder rods with welding blanket etc when grinding or welding nearby.

Hate to add to your sprayer nightmares but, If you look where that arm pivots on both sides, most likely you'll see wear in the pivot bushings. Those boom sprayers are known for that. Wouldn't hurt to check them while you're replacing all those parts.

Not sure which to start with, so I'll go in order of appearance... The case of cracks in the sprayer wings is a perfect example of the fact that farmers have been using their welding equipment to print machinery since long before cnc came along. The only difference is that they start with a machine and slowly replace it with weld bead!!! As for that digger, I will never question the pulling power of a BIG BUD!!! I thought that digger was going to be a bit of a challenge, but the Bud dragged it out like it was a quad bike! Those thing's are more amazing then I thought and I already thought they were pretty amazing. Keep up the good work guys 😊👍👍👍👍

Wow ! Tomorrow is Father's Day and my father was born in 1912 in a farmhouse in Saskatchewan. Your farm videos remind me of so much nostalgia. You did not intend it of course, but I sure appreciate your videos. Thank you. That Big Bud poured on the power and it made the John Deer loader come out like it was nothing. . . . no kidding. Hi Nick. I’m not trying to say I know more than you do, cause when it comes to farm equipment I am on the step below NOOB. But in the Aircraft industry before we repair any crack our procedures require us to find the very end of the crack and drill a hole. We call it “Stop Drilling”. The size of the bit is determined by the thickness of the metal. Once both ends of the crack are stop drilled, the cracks are repaired and a metal patch is placed over the area to stiffen the area of flex. Of course in the Aircraft industry the size of the stiffener patch and the placement is determined by an Aircraft structural engineer. It’s hard to do anything anymore without having to pay an Engineer to give you his blessings to make structural repairs. If you are having cracks reappearing you might try stop drilling. Just a thought

@aperson7624
@aperson7624 Год назад
I'm sure you know this, and it might not have been viable, but the only way to stop a crack once it starts is to drill a circle at the end of the crack on both ends. Then you can weld it shut and the circle at the ends will stop the crack from spreading. This is how they fix cracks on airplanes.

Evapotranspiration is slowed with high humidity. Just glancing at a random wunderground PWS station in Shelby I can see May had an avg of ~40% humidity and June is running ~50%. So you're getting help there by higher humidity slowing plant transpiration rate. Cloudy days and lower temps also help slow transpiration.

Y'all need the rain we got up here in NY last week. 3 days of no work because of rain. As for the problem on the Apache sprayer door, Ive had problems with the squeeze handles in the past where the linkages start to wear out and get play, eventually you get enough play in them that you can squeeze the handle all the way (it only has like 1/4 inch of travel) but the pushrod (or whatever they are using to connect the handle to the latch) doesnt move far enough to flip the latch before you run out of travel.
