Welcome back to the channel. This week we tour a Mississippi junkyard that at one time had over 300 TRI-FIVE Chevys. My friends and I get a tip about a yard that has dozens of Chevys lined up next to a service road. After locating the property, we gave them a call and were shocked to find out that they had way more than a few dozen. Its a junkyard that's open to the public and it's loaded with good stuff.

I can just imagine Dan from DD Speed Shop in the dead of night wandering around swapping headlight bezels there.

He definitely needs a winter home. Lots of Canadians are snowbirds. I guess all the money just continues going towards new projects. Buying the property next door though was a definitely a good investment. Still… …a lot more work could be done while in the southern US.

To anyone restoring a an all stock tri-5 Chevy , with stock suspension,try to find factory issue rear leaf springs packs, for a great factory ride. The aftermarket spring packs are nowhere the same factory spring rate, also factory shocks were not gas charged, ..gas charged, makes for ruff riding all around.

@@joegirard4724 who says the guy was a hoarder? It was probably a guy earning a living repairing/resales/ used parts etc and was probably doing it long before most commentators on here were born and most of what you're seeing here are remnants of that business, who knows maybe he's still earning money from part's but that's the owners choice he owns them
@Hagar934
@Hagar934 Год назад
@carmine redd your reply to me means nothing, how old was he when he died? What did he do for a living, because it looks like a breakers yard to me and must have been going for a long time judging by the tree growing out of the car and back when he was buying cars to break they probably worth more as parts now younger guys criticize him as if he's just hoarded them, if he's earned money from them over the years that's his business but now he's gone if someone can any of the car's good luck to them as they say one man's junk is another man's treasure but don't disrespect a man for having a lot of old car's because if he didn't have them they would probably have gone to the crusher year's ago

Congrats on the channel David. I have really been enjoying it. Go back and get that green 1958 Pontiac shown at 14:33, no matter what. That is the rarest of the rare, fuel injected model. The special trim alone has got to be worth thousands. I don't know what the fuel injection setups are going for nowadays, but I am sure it would make you choke.

When you guys first went in the building, that big pile of powerglides laying all over the place sent me down memory lane! (And I'm 31 lol). The first and second garages I worked in were both owned/ran by old school drag racers, who spent every weekend in the summer rotating between 4 racetracks on the Canadian East coast. They raced each other often as well. First shop, owner had a 700hp '68 Dart that was strip only, coworker had a 600hp Foxbody, which was street legal and strip ready, nice cars! Second shop I worked in, the Owner and his Daughter (my then girlfriend) both drag raced every weekend too. Her dad had a 67 Camaro, with a 1000hp +/- 509 BB Chevy, NA, with a powerglide (which ran roughly 8.0 in 1/4m). His daughter raced a full on rail car, with roughly the same drivetrain (7.77s in 1/4m). (Dad switched to the Camaro after totalling his 55 Chevy going down the track like 25yrs ago, which was built similarly to the Camaro. Daughter was also on her second rail car, after totalling the first at 200mph the year prior. Crazy) While working there, I spent two whole weeks doing absolutely nothing, except taking apart a HUGE stash of Powerglides that her dad had stowed away and found over the years. My sole job those two weeks was to strip them down to the casings, find the best casings, organize all the parts etc,. And we built two new backups for the racecars from probably 80 units I stripped, but kept the rest for spare parts lol. Since then, (like a decade ago), I've never had to look at another Powerglide, so to see a pile like that again, damn it was almost like PTSD lol. Kidding of course, I learned a TON working in those shops. Sorry for the long comment! Just thought some may find the cars interesting, also not many people have Powerglides these days, let alone a trailer full of them! Lol. Thanks for another great video Newbern! Keep it coming please, and make Finnegan sweat in his race boots a little, tell him you're catching up on subscribers! Lol.

I’m not sure how rich one would get. A lot of “restoration” costs more than the auction price they get. But for the owner of this “yard?” Someone with some vision could make a ton of cash pretty quickly by spending 5 or 6 months pulling stuff out and selling the ‘inventory.’ And a lot of happy people restoring these things would result. By the looks of that “yard” everything is at the point of decay that holding on to stuff any longer is not going to increase its value.

Just found this. Cool. I'm the guy with the white beard, and hat with the yellow taped arm wound at the Silver Chevelle SS. This yard has been here for almost 50 years. Many a tri five left that shop back in the day to high end auctions. Work still being done, but economy dictates what one wants, or want to spend...Many of the arm chair comments crack me up...
