Crazy good hummus! Pro tips; (yes, I worked in professional kitchens) When you've made your initial egg, cracking and squeezing, begin peeling your eggs under running water. The water will get between the shell and albumin and the hard-boiled egg and make peeling much easier. Use a micro plane with fresh garlic into your mix, and add toasted cumin powder. Doing both will make the flavors pop.

I follow a RU-vid channel from Alaska. The guy said he used to work in an egg place years ago and says the best way to shell an egg is to ‘only crack the big end’ I tried this and it’ is now the only way I do it. When doing the big end, it breaks the membrane and the shell comes off easier and in bigger pieces.

Try this hummus, and you'll never regret it! Lupin Beans Hummus Ingredients: 500 g lupin beans 2 cups sesame paste (Tahini) ½ cup olive oil 1 tbsp lemon salt (citric acid) 1 tbsp salt 10 ice cubes 1 tsp garlic (at the time of serving only) Instructions: Pressure cook the lupin beans until soft and tender. Add the lupin beans to a food processor and half of the ice cubes and process until the ice cubes are well crushed. Gradually add the tahini. Add salt and lemon salt. Add the rest of the ice cubes and continue processing. Gradually add the olive oil until the entire quantity is finished. Store the hummus in the fridge overnight for the best result and better flavor. At the time of serving, add the garlic and mix well. Garnish with olive oil and sprinkle some cumin powder, paprika, and minced parsley.

I find tapping/squeezing as shown then peeling under running water works for me. Roll cracked egg between your hands gently under the running water. This allows the water to get between the membrane and the egg. My shells generally come off in 1 or 2 pieces. Easy peasy.😊

The secret to peeling eggs is puting them in the water after it comes to a boil, make sure they aren't ice cold from the fridge or theyre more prone to burst, and add a dash of vinegar in the water so if they do burst, the whites hold and don't make a mess. It takes 8 minutes, in my opinion, to make a perfect hard boiled egg at a gentle boil, then run under cold water and leave to cool in cold water (no need for ice). I didn't work all this out by myself, but from the RU-vidr Marion's test kitchen 'Perfect boiled eggs every time' video. Its well worth watching, and should be easily found by googling. I found if I post links, youtube thinks Im spamming and deletes my comments 😟. And thankyou for your brilliant content, Im a grateful subscriber but rare commenter. Cheers, Tara, from Aussie.

The way I have found to boil eggs and have the peel slide off is bring water to a boil. Put in your room temp eggs then when at desired doneness shock in cold water. Peel under running cold water. Crack at the head of the egg. Slides right off

Was going to say just this! A guy on YT did an experiment and it seems that putting the eggs immediately in boiling water helps to separate the white from the shell. I also find keeping the lid on with lower heat helps make the eggs themselves the best texture!

Forget boiling the eggs, they are getting blended up anyway. Just scramble eggs in a pan, cool, and blend them up. I do this to make ice cream without heavy cream, I add a protein shake with the eggs in a blender, then add sweetener to taste and freeze. I have the ninja creamy to make it soft, but you could probably do with your dash ice cream maker too.

I came to say the same thing! Why mess with peeling eggs? You can also crack raw eggs into a microwave safe dish and cook until lightly scrambled. So much easier for this hummus and the egg pudding. I love your suggestion for using the eggs in an ice cream in the Ninja Creami!

I brought down an purchased an inexpensive egg cooker and I have never had a problem since with peeling. I had a hard time buying Tahini in my small town. My Tahini has 1 Net Carb for 2 Tbsp so shop around. I had great success with the flavor by adding 2 1/2 tsp of Cumin. I used 1/2 tsp garlic powder and 1/2 tsp piled high of minced garlic. I also added another 1/4 tsp of salt and 3 Tbsp of olive oil. I can’t thank you ladies enough for sharing this recipe with us. This recipe is definitely a keeper and is going into my recipe box. ❤️❤️

Put the eggs directly in the boiling water, eggs started in cold water will have the membrane stick to the shell. Also make sure that when you get that first peace of shell off, the membrane is coming with it

The best egg hack I’ve ever seen was that you add the eggs to already boiling water (NOT cold). Cover them and simmer for 11-12min. After that I pretty much peel them right away and don’t bother with the ice bath. I get perfect eggs 98% of the time, regardless of how old the eggs are. It’s so simple and it’s nearly foolproof.

Suggestions for your peeling of eggs 1-the tap the end of the egg with a spoon prior to boiling - it does not matter how fresh the eggs are 2-after cracking the shell all the way around put the eggs back into the water This way water will seep below the membrane and help loosen the shell Once you are done cracking all the shells, go back to the first egg to peel off the shell Works like a charm

Use the steamer basket and water just under the basket. Bring to full steamy boil. Add the eggs and cover. That is it. I let them cool in a water bath before pealing for my comfort.

I saw a chef on RU-vid busting myths and one was that he doesn't start eggs in cold water. He boils the water first and then puts the eggs in cold, straight from the fridge! And ideally eggs that you've had for several days. An Instant Pot also works great, but I know you don't have a lot of counter space (neither do I)

Hey sweet girls!! I've raised chickens for years and I have a hint for successful peeling! The fresher the egg the harder to peel! Take your eggs out of the fridge for at least 24 hours. Then put them in the cold water and bring to a boil for about 5 min. Then turn off the heat and leave them for about 15 min. They'll be perfectly cooked and should peel easily! I hope this helps!

I would have added real garlic as opposed to the powder, because it really enhances the flavour profile. And some coriander, cumin, cinnamon and curry powder. Or buy garam masala, which is a combination of East Indian spices. I use to make homemade hummus for my kids when they were teenagers. Was so quick, easy and cheap. And they ate a lot of it. Haven’t had hummus since I got diagnosed with type 2, so this recipe is extremely intriguing. Definitely going to try it. Thanks for posting. And fyi…the colder the eggs, the easier they are to peel.

Cooking hard boiled eggs in a steamer basket is the method I like. I do have an IP, but the stovetop usually is what I choose. Fill the bottom of a saucepan with water, place a steamer basket on top. The water should stay below the basket. Boil the water with a lid on. Once the water is boiling, add your eggs, replace the lid, and start a timer. For soft boiled, seven minutes for hard boiled, nine minutes. I generally let the eggs cool in an ice water bath for a few minutes. Shells come off easily. 🥚

Try the spoon tap method prior to boiling or poke a hole with a pin. I've had 100% success rate with both.

if you add a teaspoon of baking soda to the water when boiling the eggs, peeling them gets then easier. I read somewhere that the alkaline in the baking soda help the egg whites loosen up from the shell.

I crack, then roll on the counter. Peels pretty good. Sometimes need to peel under running water because of the smaller pieces of shell.

There is a garbanzo bean extract available. It could be added to the mixture to give more of the taste of hummus .

Put some white vintage in the water to help make them easier to peel. Supposedly it can help with the smell. Over cooking your boiled egg’s definitely makes them smell more. If the edges of the yolks turn grey you over cooked them. Lastly make sure they are cooled completely before peeling.

I’m trying this!! TYFS!! If you add white vinegar to the boiling water, the eggs 🥚 peel EASILY!! You don’t have to add eggs to cold water for this method. I also crack the egg, hold under running water from the sink to get it started. Also, you could add sweet smoked paprika for color.

My son who is a chef and has to prepare restaurant quality eggs, told me to put 1/2-1 cup of salt in the water when you cook them. I start them in cold water with the salt, bring them to a rolling boil and turn off the heat, let them sit for 12 minutes, then into an ice bath. Crack them as you did in this video, then peel with the side of your thumb, not your nail.

I used to have problems peeling my eggs too. Just a few things I've noticed. Use old eggs if you can! If you have an instant pot try cooking them in there. Lastly what has really helped me is someone told me to bring the water to a boil, then add the eggs and boil them for 10 minutes. Once the 10 minutes is up move them to an ice bath, I let them sit in there for maybe 5 minutes. Crack them on the counter like you did, but then stick them back in the ice water and hold the egg under the water and peel it like you did but holding the egg in the water while you do so. The peel for me just slides right off.

I would add, start peeling from the rounded end. It allows to break into the membrane which is the thing that makes it difficult to peel. You can slide it off in one piece sometimes. Wondering if roasted red pepper in there would still work out... 🤔😋

Try pinching the surface of the egg lightly once you open it. You are grabbing the little membrane, then push it aside and peel the egg from there. It works! The membrane between the shell and the egg is what makes it difficult to peel.

You may want to try peeling it under water. When the water gets under the membrane it helps.

I am so happy you are doing more egg videos. I love using eggs and unconventional ways. There is an awesome channel and she uses boiled eggs to make chocolate chip cookies. Could you do that and turn that recipe into keto

Hey I saw something on instagram where you need to crack the egg on top with a spoon once you take it out of boiling water before you put it in the cold bath bowl. I just did this and the eggs took about 10 seconds or less to shell. Really easy to get them off. Also I cooked them for 7 minutes (in ready boiling water) and got perfect jammy yolks. The woman who made that instagram is a chef that does lots of breakfast service, and has mass boiled eggs and shelled them. The crack allows water to penetrate the egg under the shell and loosen it. Hope this helps.

I feel your pain when peeling hard boil eggs! One trick that really has work for me is crack the top to break that thin membrane and peel from the top down. When you start from the sides it does make it so much harder! I hope that helps!

Start at bottom of egg and grab the little membrane between shell and egg after crushing it.

Best method I have ever found to peel hard boiled eggs is to tap both ends to crack, roll the egg lightly to crack the middle THEN PINCH OFF THE END THAT HAS THE AIR BUBBLE....THE WIDER OF THE TWO ENDS. Key point is to pinch off the shell WITH the membrand underneath. Then peel it under running water. Works for me 95% of the time....easier with eggs that are a week old . Very fresh eggs have less of an air pocket.
