My old doctor once told me something interesting. He was Japanese American and an absolutely wonderful man as well as being a character. He said he never drank. He said think about it. The word "intoxicated" really means you have been poisoned. Booze is a neuro toxin. Sort of an interesting way to think about booze itself.

@@dogman615 yes cravings can be extremely real! The first time I tried to quit I went 114 days, and the cravings on that 115th day were insane! And of course I gave in. I am on my second go at quitting and have gone 64 days so far, but truly feel that i’ll never drink again. The difference this time is that I really changed my mindset about drinking, understanding all of the negative things surrounding drinking, and realizing there’s not much benefit. And along with reading “alcohol explained“ by William Porter as well as joining the “this Naked Mind companion“ app (for free) and understanding the physiological changes alcohol causes in our body, I have completely lost my desire to drink! Annie Grace of This Naked Mind always says, “without desire, there is no temptation“ and that is absolutely true. Wish you all the best!
@WilliamBTCWallace
@WilliamBTCWallace Месяц назад
Cravings are actually pretty short. Try keeping fruit around the house and have a piece next time you have a craving. If it’s still there then go on a walk. It’ll be gone soon. Just remember that the craving is WAY shorter than resetting your detox efforts which takes up to 30 days to reset your brain. So you’re trading 30 days for a few moments or a craving. Just think about how insane that is and you’ll get over it.
@firecrackerkitten4907
@firecrackerkitten4907 Месяц назад
@@dogman615 the way I beat cravings is to completely reframe how you view alcohol understanding that there is very little benefit to it and a whole lot of negative repercussions. I’d also recommend learning about the physiological effects of alcohol on our bodies and that itself will change you ever having the desire to drink = Read “Alcohol Explained “ by William Porter. Without desire there is no temptation. All the best!

I've quit like 20 times the past few years. When I've decided to drink again, I expect a much better experience than is delivered. One or two drinks and I don't really get anything out of it, so I'll keep it going because I already decided to drink anyway. Next thing I know, it's sometime later, prob 4am and I suddenly realize I drank again and I'm already feeling bad. Heart rate is elevated, have a headache, just feel gross laying there, and that's just the beginning of at least a few days of feeling bad and regretting it. Once again, I've quit for over a month but it feels much longer. I have had to stop myself from drinking the past few nights. I know I'll feel good somehow for a few hours with alcohol before being in pain and for some reason that seems like a good deal to me in the moment. You must keep in mind what the endgame to your drinking will be. The longer you go without drinking, the worse my tolerance is. It feels a lot more like being poisoned if you are not accustomed to nightly drinks anymore.

It is a form of click bait but honestly I give Leon a pass for this kind of stuff. I want alcoholics clicking on this and listening to it because it is so right - it's not a pill but it truly is the solution. I hear people counting the days they're sober and saying "every day is a battle" and I just wish they could get out of that prison.

Coming from somebody that quit cigarettes which I'm sure you would agree is the hardest of the addictions to quit, what I found is a profound method is you have to want it. You have to have a strong desire to quit. Once you get to that point it will become easy. For cigarettes I went to vaping first. And then at one point I just told myself I'm done with this and I quit vaping. I haven't been back in over 2 years. No cravings... You have to want it. Plus I was taking antioxidant extreme by HealthForce and some other Indian herbs that could have something to do with it as well.. but it was extremely easy. And if you have a strong desire and start taking some Indian herbs like I was doing get them from a good organic source that you trust, and you should be good to go. Plus if you look it up there is herbs for quitting alcohol kudzu is one of them... Add milk thistle
