History has already taught us that prohibition is exactly the wrong approach. The right approach is what is already happening. Alcohol is losing its cool. People are caring more about physical and mental health. Alcohol companies are struggling to grow so instead they compete for market share.
Most people who consume beer, wine, and liquor, do so soberly, in moderation, without becoming non-sober,… or rarely being tipsy. Drunk is not an option, that's just stupid, generally.
I am a chronic alcoholic. I haven't drank for twenty four years. Quitting alcohol at forty-six years of age, I can say I've lived two lifetimes. Life without alcohol is infinitly happier, healthier, and satisfying. Keep coming back !
Me too, suffered the disease and caused so much suffering for others also for over 35 years, now im four years sober, free, so, so greatful 🎉 Alcoholism is an illness that I will die with and not from 🙏 🎉 just for today life is so peaceful and meaningful and worthwhile 🎉❤
Please find an AA group. They will help you STAY sober. It works for me. I’m only 11 days sober. But it works for sure. If you work it. Best wishes to you
I used to drink on my moods if things happen I'd drink if I loses people or things I'd drink then I tried gambling to beat drink it's vicious circle but nature and good food water vitamins and good people sure do help to not feel in the mood to drink
2 years 100% sober in 17 days. Was a daily drinker. Quit cold turkey one day. Just woke up and was done, no defining moment, no big speech, just a moment of clarity I held onto and never looked back. Best damn thing I ever did for myself. Have dropped 40lbs, I go to the gym everyday, have real relationships. My life is so much better without these things it doesn't bother me to be around it. That stuff is poison for us and poison for our society.
I always say only you can decide and make that choice. No external person or event can do it. It’s a choice not a disease. Definitely physical addiction that can kill you if not handled correctly. I know first hand
@tech5298 then you are not an alcoholic or even someone who has problems with drinking. For a lot of us in society alcohol has absolutely destroyed our lives and no matter how hard we tried "just having one" we couldn't control our consumption once we started. People get DUIs all the time. People drink and get into fights all the time. People kill each other in those DUI accidents and in those bar fights. So for you it may be "no big deal" but for a large amount of society it is a big deal.
So u think I’m a loser I drink not heavily but I do own a gun company I’m about to start my second one I’ve had my first one since 2020 I have a cdl class A I have a forklift certificate I’ve done armed security for 7 years I have federal contract. I’ve worked. County. Contract i’ve worked at bars. I’ve bin a bounty hunter I’m in ROTC to get my officer commission to be a fighter pilot in the Air Force I have autism and I smoke medically for it here in the state of Texas so do u think I’m a loser for drinking I don’t go to bars
I don’t drink and haven’t for 13 years. A waste of time. The hangovers were just too much! This was so easy to give up and I haven’t looked back. Very very proud of me!
@@bovnycccoperalover3579 thank you so much for the acknowledgment. The only one I get accolades from is my youngest son. My husband has never said a word to me. But he’s a narcissist. I don’t expect much from him!
i was 14 when i drank most of a bottle of Old Grandad 100 proof ... years later , i still got quezy when i just smelled liquor , tho' i did drink an occasional beer or wine , I avoide getting drunk with a passion .... it stinks
I believe you are right drinking for the most part is a cultural thing and with the cultural shift and drugs being everywhere and cheaper then drinking and pot being legalized drinking is taking a back seat with the younger generations.. That's probably a good thing.. But the drug Alternative is definitely no better.. Plus all domestic and imported beer's and liquors are owned by In-Bev a Globalist Lizard People company partnered with big pharma I have noticed that men who drink beer regularly have "gynecomastia" -->men who grow titties and lactate I know this is conspiracy theory Alex Jone's gay frog water thing But I personally would not trust anything that Globalist Lizard people and Big Pharma have any part of period.. It also seems strange to me that like half the population of the world has become homosexual, transgender or pedophiles or all three together over night.. Amazing how you sober up you start to notice these things.. Just seems kinda strange to me..
@@pjokkenroll There is more evil to be found in controlling others than there is in letting people make choices, and prosecuting them as needed if the consequences are damaging. Controlling is also futile as well...prohibition and the drug war are useless disasters. Informed consent and solid good and bad consequences for behavior is all that is needed. If God lets us choose...who the heck are other humans taking choices away from each other about their own bodies?! BTW I say this as someone that does not drink because I personally think it is lame and hate how it makes me feel.
The world is a stage. Of course they want to poison you. Depopulation has always been in their plans! Wake up to the Matrix! Your still asleep along with the rest of the sheeps
10 months sober, Didn't drink every day only on Saturday"s, Had bad experiences while under the influence. It's a miracle I am here in one piece and more lucid of thought. Time has gone by so fast, It will be a full year June 16th.
You wan a medal, you shouldn't be a drunk to begin with, what do you expect?? "thanks for your stoping"?? I haven't had alcohol my whole life, I don't expect a bigger prize than the one who became drunks and then stopped, why is that a win!! The old Prodigal Son bullsh!t. Reward the one who f-up and make the good son who stayed behind give the assh0le son a party. Parents!! Society!!
Congrats! Please keep going…if I can do it, you can too! I know you’ve heard this BUT it’s the truth! From me….23 years sober and still shocked I did it!! 😊
Currently active alcoholic. Planning to quit in the near future. This video literally brought tears to my eyes. I think the hardest thing about this video is it forces me to confront the fact that every night I drink until I pass out, and I know I'm hurting myself, but I'm so fucked up inside I keep doing it. Even though I have an amazing job, a once in a lifetime spouse and two absolutely beautiful children. Every night and all day long during the day on my days off I'm always under the influence. I don't want to escape my reality anymore. My life is amazing. I think I just hate the person I am without it. I don't know how to be light hearted and easy going without it. I don't know how to be or maybe just not motivated to be funny or outgoing without it. I can't just relax and enjoy life without it. I can't love and appreciate my wife and kids without it. But it's all a facade. It's all fake. It's induced. It's like I'm doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Only Mr Hyde is who I am when I'm sober. Inpatient, harsh, rigid, cold. I want to be who I am when I'm drinking without being drunk.
I've been exactly where you are at.. and it took me nearly 10 years to finally quit.. unfortunately, someone in your situation usually stops drinking in only one of 3 ways. 1- your brain becomes so damaged from years (or decades) of abuse that you start recognizing irreversible signs of alcohol related brain damage and dementia. 2- something horrible happens that forces you to rethink everything.. car crash, dead family member, financial loss, jail, dismemberment, alcohol related diseases (mouth cancer, stomach cancer, esophageal cancer, etc.. . 3- Death. The wake of destruction that alcohol takes on you and those around you grows with every passing year and those negative effects are exponential and compound with each year, Quit now before you have to go through what a real long term drinker has to go through.
As I am trying to get in shape.. I am eating healthier food, resting, stretching, lifting, long walks... I noticed that alcohol makes me feel unwell now... it wasn't as noticeable when I was on energy drinks, eating junk food, and not sleeping well...
I'm 62 . I never drank really my whole life. Two years ago I started drinking . Three beers x4 days My health went bad fast. My life didn't go well Waisted a lot of cash And spiritually I strayed. I haven't drank really since January 21 . Life is much better now
@@Masshysteria40 I don’t know what low brow means in this context and the health of the nation apparently increased as a result of banning this drug which would be the reason for a ban although I’m not advocating that
Same here I used to like a couple of pints myself but I rarely bother now I may have a cool cider on a sunny day but its been well over a year since I did that.
Everything you said is spot on. I abused alcohol for 40 years. Much of those years are foggy, zero memory. I'm now sober 6 months and going strong. My heart doesn't hurt anymore.❤️ Thank you for sharing this video. I pray it opens someone's eyes.
I drank because i had a really rough life from childhood all the way to in my 40's . I know there's a God because once those deeply wounded situations disappeared 🤔 well not disappeared, I confronted those demons. I still dranked but not often, i went from drinking 4 times a week to drinking twice a month, now I don't drink at all. The people i hung with , i realize they were a great influence. Either they'd talk about their problems or I talked about mine , can you imagine comparing problems. Instead of enjoyment I was depressed all the time . After awhile I would drink alone and i was still depressed. Drinking wasn't fun anymore, it made me think about past situations. Many reasons why they're called ", Spirit's, alcohol literally open negative doors. I have family members who passed from drinking, that in itself is enough to want to stop . Now I'm working on stop smoking 😊
Yesterday marked my 13th month of sobriety! Thank God for the strength to quit completely. Leon, your videos really helped me to reform my views on alcohol. You helped me see it for the poison it is
April 1st was 6 months of sobriety for me 😊 5 weeks to quit tobacco, thank you so much for all of your help Leon! This is the best decision I have ever made, I am healthy now and happier and more productive than I have ever been...
Congratulations Melanie 😊 1st of April was 6 month's for me too, life has been so much better, best decision I ever made was to give up drinking alcohol.
@@MichaelCherau-kt8gy it Saved ME Most say that I just traded one for the other. Yes I traded a Liter of Scotch every single day for a Gram of Cannabis , I got the Best of that Trade
I quit drinking 15 months ago, after a 43-year run with a few months or so of abstaining here and there. Definitely the longest I've gone without a drink and I haven't craved it or been called by it. AA helped a lot as did some voluntary outpatient sessions. It was time to let it go. I feel a lot better without question. I do enjoy weed though but it's not detrimental to me. I've been into and around it since I started drinking but I was able to quit it without any trouble a few times so I'm not concerned about it since I learned moderation a long time ago. It does help with my anxiety and Parkinson's. I learned some eye-opening stuff about alcohol when I was in outpatient.
Understandable but disagreeable. You can get drunk, just don’t be a drunkard. If ur sober a lot of the time, you can let loose and have a fun experience. If ur doing it all the time, ur decisions become impacted along with everything else in ur life. The fun times are also no longer fun. So ppl should enjoy life n have fun while not letting it control them. It makes u a better person
37 yrs I drank. About 10yr daily. Less than 2 weeks from first anniversary sober. If the info and men like Dr Peterson were available to access when I was 20yr old? My life would be different. No regrets though, I'm a good dad without that pois on. 💪👍
Listening to Peterson on any topic is enough to make me want to start drinking again. I was a daily heavy drinker for 50 years, decided I wanted to sleep at night instead of peeing half a dozen times.
True. I think thats where the real fix lies. Once it doesn't appear to be cool anymore, SO many less will try it. Banning it makes it almost sorta edgy and risqué. It will never fix the problem
@@thomasfisher763alcohol has literally been with humanity forever. Ever heard of that guy Jesus turning water into wine? It's got nothing to do with being whatever cool is or is not. Because people are always going to desire some form of chemical, be it alcohol or whatever drugs we had, have now or will have in the future.
Prohibition was a bad idea then and it is now. America has tackled tobacco quite successfully; we can do it with alcohol. I'm 31 years alcohol free. If I did it anyone can do it.
@@Fawn91193 yes. Worse than fentanyl. Alcohol is legal. People are poisoning themselves 24/7. Was fentanyl delivered during the pandemic? Yeah. Give me a break.
1 Year ALCOHOL FREE as of 3-26-24 🙌✨️ started watching these videos, put in the work - life is much better and im loving myself more than ever. Kush, Kratom & Coffee is enough for me 🙌❤ aka nature 🍃 ☕️
I'm happy to hear this is a trend. I quit drinking quite a while ago. I worried about our society because alcohol is everywhere, but I'm glad to hear that people are catching on.
Key points, when you sober up, you will excel in your career sex life is better , No more being bitter and taking it out on everybody else, etc. etc. you’re motivated to be a better person because you’re fresh with a clear head
I stopped drinking in 1996 & its the best thing I've ever done and I look at my relatives who are still drinking and have put on so much weight & their health is really bad but not once did they consider giving up drinking to improve it!! Just amazes me. I weigh the same as I did in highschool, 45 KGS at 61 yrs old! 🙏💖😘🎉
The hardest part for me was the first 4-5 days. Once I got to a week I built enough confidence to continue to abstain. I'm 69 days sober today. Anyone who is struggling you can stop! 🙏
I almost died some 45 years ago After attending a party when in college. I took my bottle of Paul Masson Rose wine home, even though we all had plenty to eat during the function and plenty to drink -- I woke up the next morning after going to bed to sleep it off. I'd gotten sick while asleep , had I choked Ugh the laundry I had to do that morning, a shower to get the smell off me ... I'd not be here to tell the tale. I'm in my mid-60s now. Swore off all wine and social drinking from that point on, anything drank by myself was limited by me for only special occasions. Like maybe a couple times a year birthday, wedding invite, etc. Had my last drink at a restaurant over 36 years ago. Don't miss any form of alcohol. I have seen people's lives unravel from it! Best thing is to avoid this 'evil' little social crutch.
Where did you hear that? It was a video full of facts and opinions about life being better without alcohol. I know the whole idea can feel threatening, but I didn't hear anyone suggesting prohibition.
@@slenderforgoodmaybe the thumbnail that had in big, bold letters, “IT MUST BE BANNED!” With, “banned’ in red font. I review NA beer on my channel, that was a terrible, click-baity title.
yeah. because the world is doing soooo good with aloohol. and seeing that you want to outlaw abortion and every type of book now in school, outlaw alcohol and see how many social problems will become part of history
God helped me stop drinking alcohol. At night a voice said "stop drinking coffee". I drank five or seven coffees a day. I stopped from the day I woke up. I had a headache on the first day, but after that there were no problems. Side effect? I lost my appetite for alcohol, xxx, etc.
Anyone who calls for the ban of alcohol doesnt learn from history. Personal responsibility is what everyone needs. Thats called freedom. Just because you can doesnt mean you should
true. if u ban something that something turns into the forbidden fruit and then everyone wants it. ever since they legalized weed in Canada now i see a new old trend among teens in Canada :cigarettes. cigarettes are the new thing again... cuz they are more expensive (status) and a big no no look down on (rebel aspect to it) more then weed ...fucking go figure.
Last year I went 11 weeks without drinking and then Father's Day came around and I had a few drinks and then boom it started again I would say I drank three to four nights a week. The one thing that got me off to a easier start with my 11 weeks was drinking non-alcoholic beer just to be able to not completely jump off of a cliff. I think I've got to go back to that I'm glad I watched this video today
One of my moms friends left a 5th of Jack Daniels at our house when i was 9. I started taking sips and ended up drinking the whole bottle over a few months. After it was gone I started sneaking bottles of Amish Wine from my grandma's house. I was a full-blown Alcoholic by 14. My mom caught on and she saw that I could handle it okay so she started buying me a $1.00 40oz. Beer a day. When I was 18 I started drinking 80 proof whiskey. I drank almost everyday for 20 years befor I was able to quit at 34.
You are lucky you are alive after all that crap messing with your mind on a physiological level at such a young age. Glad you are sober today. Stay strong. Be blessed.
When I was in my 30s 20 years ago I went to rehab 3 times and I heard the same thing alcohol was the drug that brought them to there lowest point in life
He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man; that he may bring forth food out of the earth; And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart". Psalm 104:14-15
I drank around the clock 24/7. My body began to shutdown from liver disease. I was dying and close to death. It's coming up on 6 years without a drink or a drug. Thank you God!
I have gotten my drinking under control since six years ago when I went on carnivore diet. Now I only have a celebratory drink on holidays, and I am around alcohol all the time. I face the temptation all the time and have zero issue staring it down. Occasional cigars are much nicer and enjoyable. Now to take issue with the video. I will never support the banning of any substance. Prohibition was a disaster and the drug war has been an even bigger disaster. Dangerous liberty is the answer, and we must embrace this fact. External controls backed up by threats of force and violence do not solve problems for society or individuals. The individual will not be free from his weaknesses until he learns to overcome them. No law can bring this to us. There is also a second area of consideration. There are disease processes that ethanol is known to have a positive effect on. You'll find plenty of studies on this in the area of epilepsy and maybe even depression, and more if you care to look at the NCBI.
At the age of nearly 70 I look back on a life of almost no alcohol - often zero for decades at a time - with gratitude. But the motivation to ban it must come from something greater than our previous failed attempts to do so. It has to come from an inner transformation of our social thinking and values. Sadly I do not think we are ready for this just yet.
It's rough being sober in an alcoholic society. Not drinking has been horrible for my career and I have lost so many friends and family. I am hopeful for this awakening that is happening!
I quit over a year and a half. I'm been rocking it. I've started a successful business and wouldn't have done it unless I wasn't completely straight. Thank you Leon for your videos
Alcoholism is cunning, baffling and patient. I survived with help. Many I knew did not. I learned a lot. Best to get out of yourself. Acceptance, move on and don't forget at the same time. Count your greatfuls. Pass down some knowledge if you can when you can.
I don't think so. Liquor stores sell other things too. It's your business to survive. It's legal. The government needs to be more accountable with the fact they legalized a drug that was once outlawed for a number of valid reasons. I still struggle with it every 2 months of sobriety, I go on a 2 day binge, detox/sleep for 2 days, then get sober again. My goal is to be like 👍 u. Congrats 👏 & I appreciate 🙏 the inspiration ❤️. Stay sober no matter what!!!!
Very helpful video Leon! There has been a significant cultural shift in recent years towards more mindful and moderate drinking, as well as a rise in the popularity of sobriety movements. People quitting alcohol, because of health concerns, wellness and self-care, personal reasons. It's important to note that while there is a trend towards reduced alcohol consumption, alcohol still remains a widely consumed substance in many societies.👋❤
I haven't drank in 10 years, I wasn't an alcoholic, I just got to where I hated it and being around people that drink. Life is much better without it. ❤
My father was an alcoholic during my childhood. It was his behavior in which was violent saved me with a sense that I vowed to the Lord that I would not become like my father.
I rarely drink alcohol these days. A couple nights ago I had just a couple beers with some buddies. Not enough to feel buzzed, really. I woke up the next morning, just didn't feel good. Kind of tired and foggy. Not really a hangover, but it was enough to let me know that I just need to be done with it.
Cool. I'll keep enjoying my hooch as I please. Kudos to those who are sober because they can't control their consumption but don't demonize the rest of us who can control it.
Probably can't afford it. A decent bottle of wine was around 12-15 dollars a few years ago. Santa Margerita, which is a good wine costs about $22 years ago.
I knew if I wanted to live I had to quit alcohol and then about 6 months later I started tapering the psychiatric meds. They were also harming me, long term use problems, serotonin reuptake reversal I believe. It took 2 decades to recover but feeling great now. I am 59 now and my average BP last week was 117/67 Pulse 59. No pills, whole foods and limiting added sugar! ;-)
Quit Alcohol Jan '21 so over 3 years clean. Never had an issue with addiction but can link it with many unhappy times in my life. Quitting was the best thing I ever done. Now I encourage everyone close to me to see the light and ditch the Alcohol 🎉
Thank you for putting this together and raising awareness! I attribute your videos as part of recovery starting a year ago. Thank you! 1 year sober May 12th 2024. Best decision I ever made. I drank and did drugs since 17, I'm 52 now. I am a trauma survivor and I know why I did those things but now its time to heal. Being sober is a million times better. Took about 3-4 months to really start feeling great. Trust me, its waaaaay better being 100% sober!
I got lost in the sauce for 9 years. But I got over myself n now can drink n love life. With everything in life you gotta have balance. For those who’ve quit n happier I salute you!! Congratulations.
I drank a very short yr.. many yrs ago.. in my late 20''s after the death of a loved one.. Then I decided I was gonna stop.. I told the people around me and they all laughed.. I indeed did stop.. Best thing I ever did.. that was so long ago...more than 40 yrs... You make decisions to have a better life, more meaningful..
I've been clean and sober for 40 years as of last January. A lot of the things this video says is true to some but not all. Opinions are overwhelmingly to some because it's inconceivable to most that suffer from alcoholism. The hardest fact of all is that the effects are different for different people and the results are the same for all alcoholics. Focusing on the problem excessively looses the solution, and that is SELF commitment.
My friend attended rehab for drug problems and one of the councillors describe the negative affects that various drugs have on your body. It was a one hour session and he spent 10 minutes on ice/amphetamies, 5 min on pot, 5 minutes opiates (surprisingly the counsellor said that apart from OD’ing and addiction opiates did the least damage to your body) and a good 40 min going over all the different ways that alcohol damages you body and said that if alcohol was only recently discovered that there would be no way it would be legal and its the fact that it has been ingrained into our society pretty much since human history began, that gives alcohol a free pass..
"No mate, keep your funky juice." I like that saying lol. I came off benzos, methadone 120/day, lyrica, and so much more, including soda, social media, smoking and porn. I used to binge drink really hard, but luckily never became an alcoholic. Benzos are very similar to alcohol. The withdrawal is an absolute horror story for so many ppl. Today, I'm free from all that, and my gratitude for life has grown immensely. I went on a 3 mile bike ride today, and half that bike ride I was doing gratitude and listing off things that I'm grateful for today. If you're suffering, my advice is to couple therapy with a taper off w/e it is you're on. If you're drinking heavily, maybe switch to a benzo like valium and taper off it after you get stable. I only suggest this for benzos/alcohol/methadone b/c those w/d can kill. But ya, suffer today for the better life promised to you tomorrow. Sending my prayers your way!!
Day 1, and I really appreciate creators like you. Thank you for this and the work that you do. 🙏 Coming out of a heartbreak and a loved one passing, and I don't want to spiral like I have many times in my past during moments of grief. I have so many goals, and I am tired of wasting the time, energy and money on a temorary joy liquid that causes more long term harm. I am not a religious person, but prayers are always welcome. ❤
We've been alcohol-free for 20 years. We weren't alcoholics at all, but my husband grew up with alcoholic parents and he didn't want to repeat his childhood for his kids. My reason is my gluten sensitivity, beer gives me an instant migraine and makes me ill for about a week. I don't judge others about it, unless I see them becoming agressive or dangerous towards others.
I’ve been fighting alcohol for 20 years however I stopped just before Christmas and never gone back. Coming up to 5 months now I feel great. I don’t even miss it. Don’t crave it. It’s like something has just changed in me.
