Was unfortunate you lost the footage on the other Scottish fisheries Rhys, hope to see more videos when life calms down a bit for you, your videos were always the ones that gave me the best buzz watching 🎣
@@RhysFishes You were being spoken about today Rhys, my friends and I were fishing Burnhouse Lochan and the lassie that runs it was saying that she was in the Scottish ladies team and they're going to be fishing in Wales. I said that she should watch your videos for some tips but you beat me to it, having already fished Burnhouse ! Anyway what was said about you was all good and really looking forward to your Burnhouse video, you seemingly did better than we did 👍
I watched your videos and went back to fly fishing after a long lay off - I bought your fly box and caught my lakes record fish at 16.5lb on your cat bug light green - only went there 2 times, the locals were not happy ! Cheers Rhys
Lochter is my local fishery. Glad you enjoyed your day and it’s great to hear all the positive things you said about it (and the tips will be handy 😂).
Excellent videos! Probably the best videos online and definitely the best for those who fish in the UK. One wee suggestion from a long time fly fish who is still clueless, when you mention a fly add an image of it in a wee box on screen as there are a lot of us who are still clueless about the names of the 1000s of flys out there. Thank you so much for sharing your high quality knowledge with us all it's greatly appreciated.
Another masterpiece mate . Good thing about your videos , Doesn't matter if your a novice or a experienced anger you'll pick something up from every video . All the best 👍
Awesome video guys. This is my local fishery and I’m delighted to see it getting the praise it deserves. I’d be there more often if the local river wasn’t so good!
@@RhysFishes absolutely not mate. I can only speak for myself like but the longer the better. Cam Hanes released an elk hunting movie the other day and it was nearly an hour long, granted, the production made it like a movie but I was gripped.
@@RhysFisheslove the longer form content - I set myself up with a beer with your videos and just chill watching some first class fishing. You make absolutely quality content btw… your b roll and overall videography/cinematography is some of the best when it comes to fishing channels on YT.
Hi Rhys & Jeremy, Really enjoyed this video, particularly the way you select your tactics and set-ups on each rod. Each method has its own merits… the important thing is knowing how to fish the flies you’ve chosen. You guys nailed this session, as you said; It’s what spring fishing is all about. Thanks for sharing, best regards, Wayne 😀👍
Brilliant video again. Just what i needed to see with the nymph setup. Not had a chance to get the rio midge tip yet, but will definitely be getting out there and giving this a go! 👍👍
Another great video Rhys, full of great tips. I love the craic between you and your Dad, reminds me of me and my father when we used to clay shoot together. Can I ask, would you be able to do a video explaining the different makes and types of fluorocarbon you use and why. I only use airflo, so it would be interesting to see your view on this. Watching your channel has help me improve my catch returns, thank you from a fellow Welshman 🏴
Good video.. You should try dare valley Fishery as you like travel its a geat place to fish. Some lovely fish to and the view is geat... Tight lines dale 🎣
I find your videos both inspirational and frightening - that latter for both of your abilities to catch - the logic always makes sense but the sill level is well beyond me - thanks as ever for great content!
That's very kind of you. Some days are better than others and don't doubt yourself, the methods and ways we caught the fish are easily doable by you. Just go out there and give them a try :)
Hi Rhys great video as always but could I ask would there be any chance you could do a short video on your rod holder I’ve seen them on Amazon and eBay but I was going to fix one to my box for boat fishing but i see from this video your carrying it round the bank I love to see how it’s made up please Kind regards Adam 👍
It’s worth buying one from Knitsley mill fisheries Adam. We’ve made our own in the past but none come close to The craftsmanship and design of this one.
Excellent video as usual. You mentioned using a New Haylie floating line. I cant find anything about these lines on line. Are they only purchased at the fishery?
They are but they are made abroad so are probably solt under a different name. George usually gets them in batches and will add your name to the list if you contact him
Hi Rhys, love your videos, I have picked up a lot of good info to improve my fishing. I will put them into practice as soon as I get chance to get on the lakeside. One question mate, can yo give me any details on your rod holder, the white plastic one that holds three rods. I would love to make one as it looks extremely useful at keeping your rods safe on the ground and would help keep the lines from tangling. Hope you can help me. All the best, and looking forward to more videos
Great video Rhys! Thanks so much for sharing. These longer format videos can get a little tedious but your editing made this one fly by. Here in the States still water fishing is still not super popular, but I love it. I have learned a ton from channels like yours, Lyndsay Simpson, Phil Rowley have taught me so much! I use a lot of "U.K." methods with good success. Tight Lines!
I always find it odd how River trout fishing completely dominates stillwater trout fishing in the US. But I guess that leaves more fishing available for you. Glad you found the video beneficial, tightlines 🎣
Another cracker of a video rhys 👏 there spoiled in Aberdeen with the insch and lockter being so close to each other . Don't know if you noticed the lake was dug out in the shape of a trout . Keep the vids coming mate , loving them 👍
Awesome video mate. I find when straight lining or washing line with three buzzers my floating line sinks at the tip. I I leaving it out there while setting up another rod then the whole think sinks tip first (I'm taking leaving it for about 5 minutes). Does this seam right to you? Its probably my biggest challenge when nymphing
Loved the video bud, lots of useful information. When you said you would use a shipman’s in the calm rather than a cul d what is a cul d please? Am I right in thinking that it’s a cdc parachute buzzer. Please forgive my ignorance. Cheers
That's right David. Any form of CDC pattern I mean generally. Because CDC patterns tend to sit on the surface film rather than in, and on a flat calm this is often the most key factor that differentiates a take from a refusal
Nice video! I want to fish in reservoirs with buzzer, how I attach best the flies to the fly line? I nos use a clove knot fly line to 6 lb fluoro where I then tie the flyes. Is there better options for straightlining such as using loops or rings anywhere in th system or tapered pieces of mono before the fluoro? I use intermediate fly line. thanx in advance.
@@RhysFishes Sorry I didnt explain myself well. I m missing the First part of leader construction. You go straight from fly line to 6 LB fluoro without any taper ? How you attach the leader via loop or clove knot?
@@Zenspit ah ok. So yes, I attach straight through fluorocarbon without any taper. The only time I will taper my leader is for dry fly. Otherwise I don’t need to taper my leader personally. The tippet is attatched to the fly line via a double Davy knot
