Why is this soo difficult? By Anthony Edward Lewis 26-Jan-2016 Wednesday Over and over and over again, the mainstream media loves to throw these kinds of questions into the conversation: "Aren't you simply advocating big government?", "Don't you think its naive to believe we can make soo many radical changes without EXACTLY knowing how we are going to pay for them?" and (implicitly), "Isn't it true that we need leadership that has experience managing the system?" I absolutely get tired of it. The questions are the wrong questions. And, the people asking these ill framed questions always end up showing me just out of touch they are with what is important. They are disconnected from reality. They repeatedly demonstrate how they are incapable of connecting the obvious dots. And, they don't care about the truth. Bernie Sanders is not interested in "Big Government". He's interested in BETTER government, regardless of size. He (and most people), know by now that a quality government will be effective in delivering better results and outcomes for a broader portion of our society at a FAIR and reasonable cost. The size and cost of government has to be measured in the context of its effectiveness to meaningful or relevant. But, whenever the media brings up the size or cost related questions regarding our government, they always convienintly exclude drawing the any connections to quality. The presumptions invariably imply that smaller government ALWAYS leads to BETTER government. But, that is no more true that the alternative. Bigger government doesn't immediately lead to better government either. It must be either willfully ignorance or complicity that accounts for the denial of the scope and magnitude of the fiscal fraud, waste and abuse in our government. And, I consider the corporate welfare which is the result of several generations of corruption to be a part of that malfeasance. The critics that only know how to argue against what is right insist on denying that we could EASILY afford ALL of the progressive improvements Bernie Sanders is advocating if we weren't burdened with a system set up to launder all of our tax dollars into the greedy hands of the 1%. The conservative Rethuglicans perpetually promote the same, trickle-down, broken down, proven false statis quo notion that we can save our economy with more austerity measures for our already eviscerated, essential social safety net programs. And, the weak minded lap it up! Why is it soo hard for people to see EXACTLY how wrong this all is?! Why is any conversation to the contrary of this one point even seriously considered worthy of debate?! This is logical conclusion should be at the root of consensus and common knowledge. If its because of ignorance that these critics oppose what can save our democracy, then I say that these critics should themselves be ignored and dismissed. Stupidity is still not a crime. However if its because of complicity with the enemy that is corroding the fabric of nation that these critics are standing against Bernie, the American people and everything that has ever been right in this country, then I contend that these critics to be traitors to our nation and are worthy if being condemned! There is no punishment too severe because they have in fact declared war on our future; our just destiny and truth itself. It's an abomination to be at odds with the hope and dreams of your very own country.
