This Level Made Me Laugh So Hard That I Cried! 

I was making mac and cheese for lunch today. The recipe, as you might expect, called for butter. Now I didn't have anything to measure it with, so I just eyeballed it. It ended up tasting just fine. It turns out I was within the margarine of error.

Please let Geek's award be another Carl "Getting Over It" level. Be sure to let everyone know that it's all in commemoration of her achievement, and you're therefore blameless.

This is like ... peak classic trolling. I love how cleanly presented it all is as well - it really has a 'this is a normal platforming level' aesthetic throughout, and that theme is introduced directly with the first troll. Definitely top 5 troll levels of all time, and I agree with Carl that this would be a good intro level for people who are new to trolling.

Volume is really weird in Carl's last 2 videos. It's like it Flickers between right and left headphone constantly while peaking and lowering. very hard to volume right

Of all the troll levels you've played I think this has the most screaming in it.

If you watch very very closely during his first attempt, you can see the screen shaking from the off-screen pow going off, killing the munchers. And they masked it with the vibration from sound effects of Carl killing the goobers! Fuckin genius.

To fix the audio quickly, simply toggle mono audio output! On windows 10 you can do this easily by doing the following: Select the Start button, then select Settings > Accessibility > Audio, and then switch on the Mono audio toggle. Works like a charm for me :)

So... I added this to my TVs playlist, along with a Ryu video, so I could eat lunch and be entertained. Suddenly I was watching Peppa pig. But it's Carl, so who knows, maybe it's going somewhere. 12 minutes later I decide to look at the comments and either somehow you were all in on Carl posting Peppa Pig as a troll level or something was up. Somehow a 1.5 hour Peppa Pig video got into my playlist after Carl's video and started playing first. Ultimate troll that wasn't a troll. Thanks Carl!

It's so unfortunate that this level got taken down later. It had no glitches just weird hit boxes and crazy contraptions. I know the report system in mario maker 2 is automated but taking down a level that celebrates your own game is pretty cringe by Nintendo

I've noticed a lot of troll levels have what would normally be considered bad design, but implemented in a very good way. As an example, it's generally a bad idea to hide secrets in pits because then you train the player to jump into pits looking for secrets, leading to many avoidable deaths. However, this level opens up with what looks like a death pit and another route that looks intended. Taking the intentional-looking route reveals that the path forward is actually down the death pit. Instead of a frustratingly obscure hunt for where to go next, taking the path that first appears to be intentional often shows where you're actually supposed to go or what you're supposed to do. Like, I think the best way I can put it is that a bad level would be a pick-a-pipe with a dozen pipes, only one of which leads forward, while the rest lead to death. A good troll level makes all pipes lead to the same anti with a hint showing that you actually just go back the way you came or something. Troll levels are all about subverting expectations, so they'll necessarily break the rules of good game design, because those themselves are expectations that must be subverted, but even in breaking those rules they still have to follow other rules in order to be well designed. Because of this, troll level creators need to have a very good understanding of good level design so that they know the proper way to break the rules.

I had to set my headphones in settings to only do mono audio then enable a compressor to avoid hearing damage, not gonna lie this could have used some tweaks in audacity or whatever else just to make it less harsh until the mic is fixed.

Geek should win the "Definition of Insanity" award.
