stacking and stickering was a job for a teenager once upon a time so the kid had some pocket money. These days they want $20/hr for it. Now would not mind paying that if the kid did $20 worth of work. I was raised on a dairy farm. My dad in 1962 told me I was doing a mans job I should geta mans wage; $35/wk. He gave it to me in three tens and a five. He took one ten back and said for room and board. Took another ten and said that is for college. He then told me I had to buy my own cloths from there on in and anything else i might want. Well i took $5 put it in bank. I wanted a motorcycle. Got that motorcycle the next yr at ager 15. A 58 panhead. Still have it..

Well sounds like unless your dad was withholding income tax for you, you should have been getting even more; minimum wage was $1.15 at the time, so a man's wage for a full week's work should have been at least $46 before taxes.

@@abydosianchulac2 yes I did ay taxes Dad had me my older bro and 3 grown men working the farm. It was not a little one we milked 250 head three ties a day and 50 got milked 4 times a day. My younger bro also worked but at that time he was but 11. He got paid too but just $15/we after taxes. I first got aid for what i did on farm at age 5. I began helping my older bro feed calves. Got $0.20 a day for it. In 1953 for a 5 yr old that was a lot of money. By the time I left to go into army I was getting $60/we in '68. It was either enlist, get drafted or go to Canada. i enlisted. Should of gone to Canada.

Sawdust mixed with a small amount of diesel fuel, then stored in an old plastic canister or coffee can makes a dandy fire starter. A spoonful with some kindling makes a great start for your backlog

What if you put a tarp down where the sawdust collects? Then just drag it outside. That's what I usually do when digging a gas line up. When it comes time to back fill you don't have to worry about dirt in the grass. I'm a plumber who juggles and lock picks and stuff, no idea why but I really like your stuff.

Have you considered garage doors for the access areas you bring logs in by tractor or front loader? You could raise or lower them as needed for deliveries of logs and/or air flow on really hot days. Really like your videos Nathan!

To use up the sawdust. Build or find a pug mill of sorts. Blend the saw dust with water and wallpaper paste. Compress with a hydraulic pump into starter logs for fire places.

I use dawn dish soap for my lube all year round. Works really well. It is cheap, and unlike diesel dripping on your floor (and getting into the hydro table), it is biodegradable. Another thing you can do with your sawdust is get a firewood brick press and make artificial fire bricks, or find a guy that already has that setup and sell him the sawdust.

We usually keep 30-50 chickens. When chickens DO fall over dead.. its when it starts getting bitter cold. If it keeps happening, treat for coccidia and parasites. But sometimes its just a weak bird. Or they ate something they shouldnt have (free range problem) or another bird picked on them too hard and caused some internal damage (had a big rooster that is now fully digested that killed two hens before we figured out what was happening)

you can make your own windshield washer fluid by purchasing isopropyl alcohol at your local pharmacy. It goes on sale cheap and just mix with tap water. Add blue food coloring if you really want to see the fluid in your plastic reservoir.

I make a decent home made windshield washer fluid with a gallon of tap water, about 4 ounces of rubbing alcohol, and a healthy couple squirts of dish soap. For purists you can add a bit of blue food coloring if you must.

Use water and pinesol cleaner with a bit of dawn soap. And at end of day pump windshield washer fluid into system. That 1 jug of washer fluid will last you weeks. Tank the lube tank into the garage at the house. In Irish and cheap thats what i do on the New LT-50. Works great and cheap cheap.

If you're thinking about a new mill shed, I highly recommend openings 2' wider then longest logs you mill. In feed side with a level deck that you can simply cant hook logs on mill. As you cut you can sticker pile as you mill on out feed side. Way more efficient use of time. About the time you need to fork stacked pile out, you can then pull sawdust out with your bucket. Your lungs will like the more open shed that allows the exhaust to escape as well.. The other advantage to stickering as you mill, is we know what happens to boards in warm humid weather if piles don't get stickered ASAP..

Over 30 years milling on Mizer & stopped using fluid in winter 25 years ago.. Have a Gatorade bottle of diesel/expired olive oil with a pinhole in cap to hit blade once in a while if white/red pine pitch builds up. Also, slightly heavier kerf to prevent blade heat build up..

This the first time I notice this so I'm not sure if it's me or the mill but the mill seem to be moving when the head was going back to front. It looks like the mill was sinking a bit when the head was brought forward. Might want to check the leveling feet. Not sure if this is normal or not but I would think the mill should move like that. Looking forward to those 25 videos - don't burn yourself out.

If you have a double fence on a property line, the fence closest to you is your fence, and it is possible there was a woven wire fence that stopped, it is possible woven wire went to the bottom and was bad, so the neighbor put up the barb wire fence, the the bad woven wire was later removed. Talk to your neighbor before removing the barb wire, it will save you head aches if it is the property line.

Sorry I'm late...been a busy day (and a sad one for one our of Hospice families).---I loved the stack 'em & sticker 'em, & wondered if that goat got his head out!---Cows, are you sure!---What do you do with all those eggs...sell 'em?---Oak, ho-hum. But look at the humdinger of a pine tree! I'm waiting for my knot close-ups! (XOXO!)---I'm getting closer to thinking about adding my 14 y/o Granddaughter, named London, to the registry for Christmas, her tree should last a long, long time. Maybe even her 7 y/o Sister named Quinn. I'll see next time 'round.

Nathan, a suggestion if I may that might save you some time. Instead of loading the lumber onto the forks, then taking it down to the pallets, offloading and stickering it, why not have your pallets and stickers near the sawmill (or bring them up when you’re ready for them)? That way you can stack and sticker the lumber straight from the sawmill onto the pallet then take it to the kiln or somewhere to sit until kiln ready. It would save you the trouble of moving the lumber twice. Just a thought…. I really appreciate the time you take with the videos. It shows in the quality of your editing and the music you use.

I've always bought spindle cleaner at the john deere dealership, they are the only company around that still makes cotton pickers. They should have some as long as cotton is grown in the area.

The cheapest I have found windshield washer fluid is at Rural King stores. I believe there’s one in Bristol. Bought some about 3 weeks ago. It was a dollar per gallon less than Walmart.

You need to get yourself to Agway or Tractor Supply and invest in a decent aluminum grain shovel. Then you could save that snow shovel for actual snow and probably cut your saw dust shoveling time in half. Looks like more falls off the sides than stays on the pan. Nice editing on that fade from one shot to the next.
