In this week's adventure, my friends & I decided to pick up a game called Deadside which is many respects is similar to other games like SCUM & DayZ, but the key differentiating factor that this game does NOT have zombies or weird robots roaming around the game, but instead "humanmodeled AI that operate in different factions" as well as other players running around in a beautifully crafted PvPPvE survival sandbox powered by unreal engine which does this game so much justice in getting you immersed. i bought deadside on my last birthday, January 27th, ive loved watching it grow into what it is now, no zombies or stupid monsters, just other humans trying to survive. i have all the dlc, and even th its kind of wack, i still support., now that the QOL has been upped quite a bit with the hunting and fishing aspect..man.. yes i love dayz, but this game is the next best ting no questions asked

To be fair, DayZ is what pioneered the “realistic esthetic” portion of open world survival as a genre/category of gaming. For many, many years DayZ was the closest thing to scratching many people’s survival itch. Scum had a few cool things going for it but made the design choice to include some rather questionable enemy types in a otherwise realish world. It’s honestly down to the preferences of what individuals do and do not like. I don’t mind it all personally- But it’s a nice convenience to have some decent options for realistic open world survival games. After so much time the comical aspect of zombies or robots gets old/redundant for some people. Including myself as of late. It’s the experience and the niche preferences within those experiences at the end of the day. It’s like playing a game when suddenly you come to think of an idea that could have been in the game at that current moment, a “would be nice” quality of life thing. Hard to explain. But i totally understand both of ya’ll.

My only problem with this game now (Been playing it on n off the last few weeks) is the aiming still feels.... bubbly? loose? floaty? can't put my finger on it but yeah, it doesn't feel as good as aiming on DayZ/COD etc

i know its not a dayz killer i have almost 5000 hour on that and deadside got a little over 300 hours but the game is still really good i like it alot when im on break on dayz deadside is the nexts game i go to its more chilled then dayz and dont take as long to get shit done

I've tried all 3 for a similar amount of hours. I respect and enjoy aspects of all 3 but Deadside has provided me with miles more fun than Scum and DayZ. Maybe its a casual thing. Perhaps its because I can jump in and have fun instead of investing weeks juts to loose it all in 1 moment where I have to go take out the dog or change a diaper

Agreed for sure, I can appreciate the slow and steady approach they seem to be taking though being thorough with their updates and not releasing totally broken stuff like the boats are a good example, they work so good for being a brand new update to the game.

Agreed! I also commend the game devs for taking vehicles as slowly as they have so whenever they release a vehicle in a update it isn't broken, cause with the additions of boats they added as the first vehicles we have had 0 issues and they work as they should without bugs or anything. It's definitely refreshing for a game studio to pay close attention and care with a game now adays.

I’ve tried this game twice but keep going back to DayZ. Deadside seems to have an identity problem. Neither it, nor myself can figure out what it’s trying to accomplish.

Yeah, I know what you mean by that. My only thought behind the reason of that is maybe the game just needs, well, more game to establish sense of identity since it is afterall in early stages of prealpha, it hardly sorta exists currently if that makes any sense?😂

For realll😂 they’re either super easy or super hard difficulty. It’s always different it seems from the times i’d go to a bunker.

Yeah I have to be a little cheeky sometimes going to shipping container. They can't kill you inside of there and a lot of times will run in circles around it usually reload and pick one off at a time she'll be beating level 3 missions by yourself with a pistol by no time 😂 once you know stuff like this, the game becomes so easy. You just spawn by a military base gear up and then go PVP

I’ve also noticed that with the ai. If you can get yourself into a building or room with a door, they’ll just line up and try to go through the 1 doorway where you can just mow them down lol. It seems to be way more of a challenge when out in the open field with them chasing you in the woods not knowing where the heck they even are at😂

I played deadside over 100 hours, solo though, this looks considerably easier, and alot more fun with friends,i had easier time with pve solo, as pvp servers was me losing hours of progress for shop bought guns by simply better players or campers in buildings sometimes just outside the safe zone, the whole gameis frustrating experience, bots can be overhwelming and unrelenting, more so in close qauters in bunkers, dayz veteran, but i find scum my favourite game so far for this genre

My gamer clan went back to DayZ after playing Deadside and agreeing that Deadside is garbage! We're having fun again, and we have the added bonus of hosting our own servers!

Ouch! Your frame rate makes it very hard to watch. No doubt hard to play as well. Is the game generally frame rate heavy? And the player tags kill it for me.

Framerates are fine. Had some hiccups with player model jittering here and there. But thru the majority of video it’s 100+ fps in game tho

other then the outdated UI and interface, the graphics look good, textures, and lots of foliage coverage, no flat visible polygons like dayz

Well your hands are not bugging out in game breaking fashion. You don't shake like you have Parkinsons' disease when you aim down sight. You don't fall unconscious after being shot in the foot with a Mosin. This game is already 10x better than Day Z. A sandbox shooter that just works.....Something that Bohemia can't manage to pull off with millions of sales and a decade of development.

@Davivd2 100% agree with ya there. DayZ pioneered the realistic hardcore open world survival genre and ultimately failed at sustaining such a reputation sadly. Some call it a matter of luck or time, i call it karma tbh.

@@TheAwesomeFossum I'm glad that Bohemia are finally getting some real competition. I'm a fan of open world sandbox shooters. But Tarkov and battle royale's don't do it for me. Basically I've been stuck with Day Z, and just frustrated with the unrealized potential. I'm buying this game and giving it a shot.

This game is not good. Building restrictions suck, NPC are garbage, and it has a lack of locations to explore. There's no depth or lore, is just a boring version of DayZ
