Grian is doing farms (with redstone) and Doc just spent two weeks doing manual labour. Now all we need is Iskall finding a situation where diorite improves a build, Etho using a clickbaity thumbnail and Cub failing to prank someone.
Recently she also added a 15 minute timer as an option, support for double letters in the "correct but in the wrong place" filter, a letter shuffler and more feedback :D
@@StrawberryGS She solved it with help from both Xisuma and a suggestion on r-slash-Hermitcraft. I think the gist was, a correct locked-in letter also sends a minecart that locks that specific right-letter-wrong-place checking hopper, so it'll only trigger to send to the "yellow barrel" if there's _another_ slot that wants that letter still...
@@WackoMcGoose Xisuma or Reddit had nothing to do with the double letter system operating overall. I've seen this misconception commented a lot and I can't lie that it does make me a little sad, haha. That was my design and was not streamed or recorded. What they did help with was the failsafe for correctly placed letters to return to the player so they can be re-used instead of being held until the game is reset. The old design required 'completely correct' letters to be held until reset so the bulbs would stay lit and the gate would correctly trigger upon all letters submitted. It worked on a constant-powered comparator registry and was changed to a tick registry. Without the failsafe of players doing incorrect things, the game still functioned completely fine for double letters. Edit to say: Other than creditation, the explanation provided is correct.
Iskall actually also used the powdered snow trick for Mission Possible, to ensure that the book lands nicely in the middle of the table when you request a new mission
I really like how she did this. I began to plan a wordle build but got bogged down trying to build a keyboard or automate too many parts. Pearl's is no more complicated than it needed to be, really clever
Its (unironically) "actually quite simple" the way she explained how it worked to other people in videos is enough for my dumb brain to understand exactly how it works, which is really cool
I am also not a redstoner, but I'm a software dev and whe nI first thought "wordle" it overwhelmed me because I thought I would need to implement a random bank of words (renamed papers) and use individual letters (also papers) to guess the word, the random bank sets the whole circuit up and so on and so on and so on. However, this is a great example of simplifying, is it still wordle? you could argue that it is! you have to set the word manually and you use a random color sequence, but it is! When I saw the redstone I thought "Huh, that makes sense, that's so simple...", what a great showcase of using what you might have learned from building item sorters and applying it to build something different!
Basically, for what i observed, when you are new at something, you are a sponge for new things, compared to pioneers and veterans who know those things but had to figure it out by themselves before doing better stuff, here for PerlescentMoon, she have plenty of works to inspire her, systems that are already optimised and stuff. What's even more impressive is that the system she made is complexe, compact, do a lot of things at once and is understandable when you look behind the scene ,o,
Also for the statement of earlier, am maybe in the position of a new veteran of both things since i started as builder and redstoner but after most of the true veterans, that's maybe why i have struggles in both subjects "-^-
3:19 Powder snow has the benefit of cancelling all momentum after 1 tick, even if the item isn't in the powder snow anymore. This is why cubicmetre's long-range tnt cannons use a block of powder snow, so that the tnt only moves for 1 tick. This doesn't work with arrows ( and maybe other projectiles ), as they use a movement method exclusive to their natural movement, instead of the more general one used by other entities, pistons, and the like, and this method doesn't have this behaviour.
Great video breaking down an 8 hour Pearlstone project! But I think it is out of date now because the recent version can allow for double letter words.
I have been amazed and very proud (in a parasocial, non-creepy way) at Pearl's redstone journey. Having more redstoners is always a good thing, and watching her whizz through the learning curve as if it was a flat line has given me the same joy as I used to feel when teaching people web dev. This machine was built by a redstoner... because Pearl is now absolutely a redstoner ♥
Something I noticed about the series name "gnireenignE" ever since the beginning: it should be pronounced "ngireenizhdne" in order for it to sound like "engineering" when reversed. The reason why there's a "zhd" in the middle is because the soft "g" sound is secretly "dzh".
I have on more than one occasion used wordle to teach myself the basics of new programming languages before. It’s a really good way of doing it, because it’s a logic puzzle with a clear goal, and also has some exceptions that you have to deal with (double letters for example. It also deals with strings but that’s not as relevant for redstone). When I saw pearl using it to learn redstone I was excited to see someone else doing the same thing!
this is so cool!!! Saw mumbos vid on it, then xisumas. Personally I would reverse the interface; a string of hoppers that I could chuck items into, with indicator lights above. That way I could use my inventory for letter sorting
One thing hate about some redstoner's is how they don't really explain how a build works, or why it works. It doesn't reallly leave you an option other than copy/pasting what they are doing. Maybe you pick it up during assembly, but most of the time you'll spend hours breaking it in small ways to figure it out. When you said let's see how it ticks, I hit the sub button. 5 min in I am not disappointed. Some redstone creators could learn a thing or two from you.
Pearl redid the letter shuffler along with other things. She locks a hopper long enough to get the letters back and then the hopper unlocks and picks the letters up in a random order.
The reason the fireworks didn't explode is because you used the ones from the creative inventory. Those firework rockets don't have a firework charge, so they don't explode. The ones from the creative inventory are the kind you'd use for elytra flight.
1:27 OMG I REMEMBER THAT WORD! it was either tuesday or wednesday and I was helping a friend who had the u and the e right and a t somewhere in the word. I had the idea that it might be a quxxx word.
There's a colour based version of the game that plays exactly the same, which I was able to recreate back in high school in MS Excel. V1 did need unique colours in each slot, but I soon reworked it. Also, you can make tic tac toe in one formula. That was another little project
great video jazzii but if I could change one thing I would make an aoutomatic reset (by connecting the win and the lose lines to the reset line with delay of cours so that there will be no way that someone just forgets to press the reset button becuase there will be non it will be automatic)
What this reinforced in my mind is that the individual mechanics don't need to be complex; it's the combination of those mechanics that brings out the engineering magic in redstone.
Didn’t X come help her build a randomizer for the letters, similar to Tango’s card shuffler from last season, to fully randomize the letters? I feel like I remember that. 😂
Just a small suggestion, if you were to take a comparator output or something from the green correct barrels, then hook them into the corresponding yellow correct barrels, it would allow for words with 2 or more of the same letter
i think it should work where letters correct but in the wrong place drop out of a dropper back to you (simple to do just replace that barrel) and letters not in the word at all just get eat up by the machine or stored in a barrel like they already are and dispensed back to you at the end of the game those are really simple to do but would make playing the game so much more comfortable
Would be nice if you could put 4 of each item into the input to set the filters, and have your reset drain the filters so you can customize it whenever without going into the hoppers one at a time.
Isn't the correct but not in place blocks will be sorted in order or like a line that tell what the answer if you put the collect system like the answer like you did there?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m looking at this again and it seems this system isn’t designed to handle duplicate letters in the word? I have a solution for this, but from what I’m seeing, if you were to have 3 duplicate letters in the target word and the player enters 4 of those in their input, the 4th one would not turn out grey like it should
This is the first version of Pearl's system, where it indeed cannot handle double letters. She has since upgraded her built to allow double letter words!
6:40 I'm asking because I'm not that good with redstone, but would the barrels be replacable with the recently added pots? Because for I know what can be lag inducing with hoppers is the amount of slots they have to check, and for barrels have x27 the amount a pot does, I'm wondering if pots could work and be ram friendly
@@samuelhulme8347 ofc, I'm assking if it works considering a massive usage of hoppers, for anyone that isn't a redstone addict or on a big server, that wouldn't change a thing
My first red stone build was a 2 by 1 piston door and my 2nd was a 2 by 2 my 3rd was redstone lamps but my newest one has a fail safe it takes more then one push to pass and go through the door and my newest of them all is on the same world but no spoilers i might make a video about it
Did I forget to say my build on that world also has debug for users that go high enough oh plus the world has not been finished it will stay that way until someone asks me to show it
Oh and if you are wondering yes it's beta not java or normal bedrock or pi edition or education education or even for that matter the one that you can play and run in the chrome or Google browser aka Minecraft classic and yes I do Play normal bedrock and not just some others I also play the switch versions of bedrock made by the same people that makes the beta updates oh and good luck trying to get into the beta program I got it in without needing to even join because I had Minecraft when it was only in beta on mobile oh and there was once a texture pack or should I say packs that are lost to time fnaf and one that was to make things look mote fancy but there was a missing texture block but it was just a change in texture oh and ya it came with the one with missing texture but not the fnaf one idk where that one went but I remember that the cake was a pizza and the mobs where fnaf 1 characters oh and that is why i got into Minecraft because I loved fnaf but I also still like Minecraft and there was a game called blocks world and blockheads that i played don't even think about mentioning Roblox
@jazzired you could also turn this into wordle using actual words by using shulker boxes loaded with letter named items to load the filters. I can think of problems with duplicate letters but nothing unsolvable?
@@Thechaosinchat No, the tone is set by right clicking the note block, and the instrument is set with the block underneath. You can see the wiki to learn more :)
A builder start to learn redstone and making a new minigame in Minecraft, yet i, one who experienced 3 or more years of redstone STILL dont get why filters work
There's no way she didn't do any redstone before. Not in a video ofc, but she had to have made some basic stuff before at least! I'm not saying she's a liar if she explicitly sayed she has not tryed redstone before, but I don't see why she wouldn't have.
So this is just wordle but with colors one less attempt and you being unabke to use strategy by putting in 5 in and chnaging ones that allready are in it?
im confused Pearlescent moon is an official redstoner Even has an official certificate And that reminds me I think mumbo jumbo lost his recently... Probably just a coincidence
I tried minecarts but couldn’t get it to work through the block while still being hidden :/ The hoppers were the simplest and best looking in my testing
