That's interesting that low-contrast hair color is seen as more attractive when it's been previously noted that high-contrast features seem more attractive.
These studies are also limited by their time in history. Wavy hair might look dated (i.e. "older") right now because perms and big waves were big in the 80s and 90s. But when that style comes back into trend, it won't be perceived as "old people's hair." I feel the people collecting and presenting this data should issue the caveat that perceptions of "beauty" are not eternal.
This should be a channel based on media biases as opposed to " society thinks this for real " so get plastic surgery... which is what it is ...this is a company that you can pay to have yourself analyzed so you can make the right choices for plastic surgery... more bogus than anyone could possibly believe... I used to subscribe to this channel so I could have ideas on how to make myself look better and luckily I got the f*** out of it and now I just like making fun of it... I really really want the media to influence me on aging gracefully because I am just human and I want to be liked I feel like a beautiful 45 year old woman until I get the f*** on this internet
@@exoticalBecky_Miamiit does feel weird to pay a company to analyze the flaws in your face. When someone who is 100% sure about changing a specific thing goes to an actual doctor, that can be relieving. But having a company look for flaws feels uncomfortable; it’s taking advantage of insecure people.
You aren’t using pictures of naturally curly hair but rather heat styled curls on short hair. Obviously it’ll have negative effects bc they look like the Golden Girls 😂
If I wear my hair straight people call me Karen... If I wear my hair curly I get free stuff... I would doordash if I have my hair curly the restaurants would give me free samples if I didn't... they wouldn't even look at me... I still maintain Ariana grande looks like ass with hair that's the same color as her face
I have to agree. The curls they used looked like the perms my grandma used to get when she was still alive so of course that would be perceived as older looking. If they would’ve used woman with naturally curly hair it would’ve looked way better.
It's odd to say that straight hair is attractive...I wouldn't consider it attractive but it is the majority of people compared to curly or wavy hair. I dont think his video is credible in general lol.
Agree. Not saying that curly hair is not attractive, they are attravtive. But i can't lie if i sèe woman in the street with shiny straight dense long hair, i will definitely look at her hair
@@MargoSkaridkayou aren’t the majority. These are general statements. There are always outliers in everything, as adults we know that and just assume everyone else knows it too, it doesn’t have to be harped on.
The hair experiment is a joke. The “curly” hair looks like that of a grandma who just got a perm. Historically curly/wavy hair has been perceived as more attractive. Goddesses and women of importance were represented with wavy/curly hair. Women of higher classes always curled their hair.
Still, the waviness in those pictures is a cultural thing, not a natural thing. Naturally, straight, unaltered hair looks the most attractive. Unless you talk about the little waviness it gets from braiding. That is still natural without heat or chemicals and looks very attractive, too.
That’s weird. I have wavy-curly hair and everyone fawns over it. I think hair that’s different than what you usually see is gonna be perceived more attractively
This is what I experienced too. It must have a link to other factors like facial structure and body posture. For example Marilyn with blonde long straight hair (still beautiful) Opposed to her natural brown curls and her short permed blonde they both look more stunning
Even if people really like your curly hair, it’s also possible that you’d be considered more attractive with straight hair. Both things can be true at once.
@@sivannatalieI'm not really convinced it's a one-size-fits-all at the individual level, just because something is true on an aggregate. There is something to be said about certain face shapes/features being more flattered by waves or curls over straight hair.
oh well, i’m sorry the majority vote hurt your feelings and suddenly you don’t know what a opinion is and that even though other things are liked, there’s things that are liked more 😭 can’t you get it? just because people like one thing 90%, doesn’t mean the other thing people like 80% is nonexistent
@@ano1919 yes I think it depends on the person as well. I had blonde hair last year and now I made them darker again and everyone says it fits me much better. Not everyone is made for blonde hair hehe
Tbh I personally dislike low contrast hair. I have dark brown almost black hair (wavy, thick, dense)and an olive skin tone (which means I tan easily). I try my best to keep my skin pale-ish as to best contrast my dark hair & dark eyes/brows. Maybe it's because I'm a painter, but contrast/ chiaroscuro is extremely evocative and helps to clarify the form into obvious silhouettes. Low-contrast only rlly works if you are already attractive. (just like in painting, only works if you are already a master)
I disagree.. when you bleach the hair of a less attractive girl with for example a big nose or recessed chin the features blend in more easily and she looks more attractive over all. Noticed that effect time and time again. I know it because i always hated my big nose and ppl started telling me i should just stop dyeing my hair so dark then. Problem is my hair is naturally almost black even if i am a very pale caucasian. That makes me nose stand out even more and i hate it. But i also don’t want to destroy my hair with an intense bleach 😢So look at the blond attractive girls around you and reconsider if they actually have such good facial structure. Often it just stands out less.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder :) Many, many people appreciate the beauty of mixing unconventional and uncommon features together (very wide set eyes, a gap in your teeth, dark coily hair, a large nose, etc.) In fact, these striking features are what scouters look for in models who are uncommonly beautiful. What people rate as features “most or least attractive” to them actually tends to change when they meet a real person - the balance of all your features together determines your attractiveness more than each feature in isolation. This level of your perceived attractiveness will vary depending on who is rating you, as we can interpret what we observe differently from one another based on our upbringings/environments and biological inclinations.
I hate how everyone is generally more attracted to straight hair and no one finds curly hair attractive. This really sucks because people who are born with naturally curly hair struggle a lot with loving their curls and usually resort to straightening and damaging their beautiful natural hair.
So basically the whitest features available? 👀 We need more information about what did the group that judged those features look like. We tend to naturally gravitate towards features similar to our own.
Well, exactly. So why would a European video include your cultures beauty standards? If this were a Nigerian video and test group, then the results would be different.
Strange how you say its straight hair yhats considered attractive when most historical romance media (books poems, etc) have always described beautiful women as having wavey/coily hair. It's probably a social/generational thing because i can only see that being the case for like people who grew up in the 2000s/2010s cause pin straight hair was the beauty standard at the time
Density is Queen. I've been sleeping late for so long, now trying to reverse the damage by sleeping early. Sleeping early is even harder than dieting or anything else I've ever done in my life.
I used to work in an office filled with about 50 women to 5 men. I'm a guy btw. The most hilarious thing for me was to imagine every woman I saw bald. No hair on the head. Honestly it is hilarious, they look like children.
tbf you probably could have dyed your hair any color and you would have received compliments. People like to compliment women on any "new" thing that they see on them.
As a woman with naturally curly hair, I’m getting sick of society’s prejudice towards curls. Some of us don’t want to straighten our hair. Some of us straighten our hair only for it to frizz an hour later, and it actually looks much better in it’s natural state.
In another video he said the exact opposite about hair-skin contrast so I wouldn't worry too much. To me, pale brunettes and blonde dark girls are beautiful!
Yes, long hair is better. When it is so long it reaches their lower back it is hot af. I think the pictures used to determine what type of hair looks best were awful. The short curly hair example they used looks like old lady hair but normally tight curls and bushy hair is beautiful. Mixed women have some of the best hair out there.
Long hair is not better. Healthy hair is better. Some are chasing the length forgetting about the maintenance. I would prefer a short hair girl with healthy hair rather than some 2 meters hair girl with bad bad bad hair. Hair is dead cells anyway.
@@skmuskanrahaman1690 And most of these kind of surveys and ”studies” is pseudo science because beauty is in the eye of the beholder and you can’t really use science to rate beauty
Women can pull off short and long hair if their hair is healthy. I really cannot decide if short hair is attractive or long because they both look equally attractive. It's just a matter of taking care of hair. I knew someone who had ankle length hair yet had split ends and it looked unhealthy.
This is not what video is talking about - short hair is like magnifying glass for your face - So even if your hair is amazing - if your face is not - short hair will put all your features more on focus - including the bad/average/not so great ones.
@@alexforce9very true. but id also like to highlight that there are people who need shorter hair in order TO look more attractive. for example, hailey bieber. long hair would hide her face too much, short hair allows us to see it better. it also can balance out more square jawlines (like mine). whereas someone like vanessa hudgens can look equally as good with short hair as she does with long. i think the whole visual weight thing can come into play a bit
@@scarlettyoungytyes! As you can see in my profile pic, I rock a Bob. I’ve had long hair my whole life, but it really just never suited me! The only thing I miss is the updos that I used to be able to do with my long hair. But my short hair definitely made me more attractive, at least I think so.
Straight hair was more trendy in the past but now lots of people want beach waves/curly hair. It definitely is seen as more healthy to many people. So it depends on how old the studies are.
This is wrong. Women with curly, textured hair tend to look younger than straight-haired counterparts as they age. Because of the natural volume that comes with having curly hair, thinning is less noticeable.
That’s not what they were measuring though. And I honestly think long straight hair on older women looks more youthful. It’s just rare to see for obvious reasons.
It can easily be both 😂 I look more mature with straight hair but at the same time since it’s how I used to wear my hair when I was younger it gives the impression of few years less 😂
What women, & hair stylists haven’t done in a long time was ask men what they find attractive, it’s taboo. So many women are wearing styles that their stylists find attractive even if that stylist would never wear it herself or even if the stylist is a gay male 🤣 💙🙏🏻💙
QOVES, I do appreciate your videos, but it should not be happening that you leave up content in which the people you used as examples specifically don't consent to being used. I don't know if it's against TOS on youtube or TikTok, but I do think it reflects badly on you. That's especially if they're a relatively private person (that is, even if they have some content online, they're by no means a celebrity) I'm talking about @Talonted Lex
People want their race to seem more attractive, so they come up with studies to ask people of their own race and conclude that their features look better. Shocker.
😂😂😂😂 funniest comment because it's saying the quiet part out loud and even if they disagree with it, now its in their mind and they will unwittingly recall it in the future. Genius 😂
@@froyokidGotta love how no one notices this but then again maybe they do. No wonder beauty standards are the way they are. It's so interesting and ignorant at the same time.
@@Ashley-fc7kd western men hold white and foreign women in the same regard. but, say like arab, indian, turkish and chinese men will almost always prefer white women over any other.
I think of curly hair as looking like a kid😭 when I want to look more mature I straighten my hair and it works😂 ppl always think I’m my age or atleast older whereas when I wear my natural curls ppl think I’m 16 instead of 21.
Yeah, this whole channel tries to pesudosciencify the very subjective, social and cultural idea of beauty like it was an quantifiable metric. It is mostly misinterpretation and bullshit.
@@stello61 That's not the point we are making. The studies show what people perceive but people don't perceive things directly but through conditioning. When you are conditioned to perceived something a certain way and then a study shows you perceive it that way it doesn't confirm that's objectively that way despite a certain narrative wanting to do so
The short haircut they've shown werent very good. I think short hair looks good depending on the face itself, and at times, it can make a women look younger too ❤
This isn't reality... look at Ariana grande and tell me she looks better with hair that's the same color as her face... Look at Halle Berry and tell me she looks better with medium length light brown hair as opposed to short dark hair... For me personally wearing naturally curly hair that is super frizzy gets me all kinds of Love free food and attention...
Hair length preferences are not universal . I will always prefer my wife to have short hair (as does she), so do not fret, short haired ladies. There are people out there for you
This video is clearly not inclusive of women with type "4" hair at all... unless it's straightened. If you're going to do a video like this, it would be nice to remember that other hair types exist... unless type 4 is purposely not included because it's not considered attractive to you.
Not everything has to be inclusive all the time, you are in the western world, which is white majority!! You lot always moaning.. what about me? Do they go to black African sites and moan about not being represented in their beauty ideals, NOOO
I think it's mainly because a lot of these studies on hair types ultimately suggest 4C hair isn't as attractive to many hair types, and they don't want to be blamed for perpetuating racism so they just don't publish that part of the data.
The before and afters are edited so much that your viewers lose trust and interest in your "knowledge" because you're blatantly manipulating the "after" picture
Everybody that i know says that curly hair is what makes you look younger not straight. The wavy hair you showed is not even wavy hair, it's straight hair styled
That second girl would look just as bomb in short hair if it was a good haircut (like on the first girl) instead of hair awkwardly chopped around the ear
Higher density of fine hair is a fucking nightmare bro i have it and it's so difficult to maintain my hair if i don't comb it for 5 hours it gets so fucking tangled.
It’s all a matter of opinion, like most things about attractiveness, really. I prefer short wavy/curly hair in women. I also find darker hair colors more attractive in anyone, no matter the skin. I’m sure there are plenty of people who agree with me on this.
A more attractive face can take more creative risk. Hence why you don’t see people rocking some of these less popular hairstyles and getting noticed for it.
Honestly I feel like there's so much more context you need to take in consideration. Things like hairstyle are greatly affected by a person's face shape, and also is highly generational. What we consider to be older hairstyles in the 2020s might cycle back to being younger hairstyles in the future. So many of these things are cultural and time locked.
Sooo…blonde hair is seen as the healthiest, but dark hair even healthIER? That means that blonde isn‘t seen as the healthiest? I feel like this is just a wishy-washy way to say „all hair colors are equally beautiful“ lol
@@RedRose01289 I literally was talking about me. Because that's exactly what I have. But people usually don't like thick body hair. May be you need to know what sarcasm is.
I can't relate to some of these videos because they only show one race. Commonly black or brown women's texture is completely different and not included.
I have long, straight hair and have been complimented on it only twice in my life. I think wavy or curly hair is generally perceived as more attractive.
My hair is usually straight but I look wayy better when I wear it wavy. That way it has a lot more density so I guess that's mainly why based on this info
@@thezu9250 Right when he said straight hair is seen as more attractive I was a bit surprised cause curls are all the hype nowadays. I also feel like not as many people can pull off straight hair as with wavy 🤔 Waves do vary a lot more than straight though cause like there are levels 2A, 2B, etc so it's understandable if they really do suit more people cause the comparison I'm doing isn't exactly fair
But I thought that curly hair is a neotenic feauture so it makes someone look younger. Does the picture of grandma's permed hair mislead the people on the research ?
