Federer really liked taking on the greatest variety of athletic challenges offered by the game. Federer took matches in that direction. and replays of those matches show how the entire crowd loved see tennis played that way.

No pro player plays at 50-60%, it's just not possible. Level is very high nowadays and although the top players can control a match, they have to play 85-90% of their level. This level can be astounding when top players play eachothers but if they take it easy in the first rounds, they can lose
