I changed to 1h BH bcs of federer, his backhand is so fluid and beautiful, however with time I realized that his 1H backhand was not the best in the game, wawrinkas is hands down THE best no debate.
🤣He probably could have done the whole video with just BHs from the 2006 ATP Final against James Blake. 🤭 James Blake probably still has nightmares of watching BHs go by him.
Federer is lightyears ahead with his volleys, I continue to be amazed by how good his anticipation was, his net coverage was so much better than everybody else's. I have seen training sessions with Federer, the stopvolleys he casually hits on really fast passing shots to fool around a bit are a sight to behold.
Gasquet has the best one handed backhand ever! much more consistent than Wawrinka, the dude rarely sliced his backhands and returned first serves with it, while Wawrinka almost always chips the returns and slices at least 40% of the time, and while he can hit more winners than Gasquet he can also tripple his unforced errors compared to him, winning titles is not an argument when comparing a single shot, much more goes into it, for example Gasquet has probably the worst forehand in the top 50, has an average serve and is kinda a bad shotmaker, hitting more in the middle while standing behind the baseline like Nadal. Thiem is similair tier to Wawrinka also, while Wawrinka handled Novak at slams better with his backhand, Thiem was much more lethal on that side vs Rafa than Wawrinka. Thiem is the only one hander i know who handles high bouncing shots with ease
Roger was incredible on his feet! He's one of my favorite players hands down. You always wish someone like that stays connected to the sport even when they get done playing. My father introduced me to Andre Agasee while working for Nike, then my uncle introduced me to Venus and Sarena later on. I've only recently delved into the sport on my own and enjoyed the energy
Federer's volley is by far the best ever, he was constantly not only finishing points like Nadal or others, he would play several volleys, attack you with it and so on in an era where almost nobody volleys anymore due the courts being slower than before and players hitting stronger, faster. In the past there were some great volleys like Edberg, Sampras etc... but again, conditions were different, players didn't move as fast as they do now
I've watched most of your videos and love the compilations, but just to let you know, I immediately fast forward the moment I hear your voice. Why is a voiceover even necessary
You forgot two shots in my opinion: First one was against Hewitt where he took the ball volley on the middle left side and made an insane cross court drop shot. Second one was against Nalbandian in Wimbledon I think, where he ran backwards and made an amazing cross court passing shot
Greatest "one handed" backhand ever? How about just the greatest backhand ever! Period. If you watch his game and movement on the court he had no business reaching top 10 let alone top 5 in the world! He won 3 slams with his backhand. Truly Incredible! (I guess it helped when he pointed at his head too)
