@@xaviorprime9203 Bruh you're trolling I hope. AoT characters are far from one dimensional. Eren is up there with the likes of Guts imo. If chapter 139 is good, AoT will cement itself a comfortable place alongside Berserk, Vagabond, 20th Century Boys, etc. as a must read manga.

@@xaviorprime9203 I don't really see the point in making a top 20 list and shit aside for personal reasons. Like, all these manga we're talking about all have their strengths and weaknesses. Like, what's the point of comparing Punpun with AoT? Way too different, they're doing completely different things. Like, I think AoT blows all the others out of the water thematically. Isayama is a master of using motifs and character to communicate theme. I think his characters are wonderfully complex, yet not quite human. They're linked so intrinsically to their thematic purposes that they can almost feel like puppets of theme. They still have agency and they aren't just tools of the plot, that's not what I'm saying, but they can almost feel like ideas more than people. Like characters in a stage play rather than in a film. It's a style of writing I actually really like. But I'd say it's less powerful, if you value pure character over theme, than the traditional method of writing characters. And of course AoT's art isn't a fraction of the quality of Berserk or Vagabond's. That said, I think Isayama has developed a distinct style of his own that works very well, and Isayama's paneling has always been very well done. With plotting, I think AoT is much better than its competition. Isayama writes very, very tight plots. The twists and turns are always excellent, the foreshadowing is incredible, but the conciseness is his real strength. For example, the battle of Fort Slava in the Marley Arc is simultaneously introducing us to the outside world and their views on Eldia and Marley, displaying the threat of Marley, setting up the symmetrical bookends for the arc with Gabi and Reiner's actions, and introducing the Mid-East people so we can have a sympathetic victim of the Rumbling 40 chapters later. Most plot points in AoT are similarly juggling several different responsibilities. It really is incredible when Isayama flexes his plotting chops, a prime example being chapters 99-100. Storyboarding 20 chapters in advance is well worth it. It's an incredible manga. It isn't as good as Vagabond etc. in some aspects, but I do find it better in others. It definitely doesn't deserve to be put down for being shonen. It ain't Naruto. /rant.

I read that Vagabond 4 or 5 yrs ago, a masterpiece from one of the greatest... Takehiko Inoue, the mangaka of Slamdunk... I hope he's still continuing the Vagabond. Haven't read the manga of Monster but i heard the anime is exactly the same so i just watched it, easily on my top 3 after finishing it, Johan is the best villain.

Check out Vinland Saga. There's an anime too but you should read the manga first.

If you're looking for something slow, there's an underground cult classic cyberpunk manga called "Blame!" (pronounced as blam like the sound of a gun), its basically Dark Souls' storytelling but in a dystopian world.

well, his thumbnails include an iconic depiction from the work. but i totally agree with you, for a person completely unfamiliar with all the manga/anime/etc in the world, that kind of clickbait title doesn't offer much information and hooks less

I’m someone who only just started reading manga. To me, this title caught my attention. Simply because I AM looking for must read mangas. I’m starting out “a trail of blood” and so far I must say I wish I had started reading manga sooner. Better late than never i guess. Anyways, not mentioning the name of the manga in the video title allows for more curiosity supposedly. You feel the need to click the video in order to find out the name of the “must read manga”. At least that’s what I think. Also let’s say someone had already read the manga. If they see the name of that manga in the title, they are less likely to click, hence less viewers. So all in all, yea I think ambiguity helps get more viewers.

Admittingly I thought it was an image from Oyasuma Punpun, for some reason. Maybe the art style. But it did give me another manga to read that I didnt know about. (Also highly recommend Oyasuma Punpun one of the best things I'll ever read to the day I die.)

​@@nyx3916 yeah it got so shit. The last 3rd is filled with such lazy writing you wouldn't think it was the same man who made the story so far. So many plot holes and conveniences that just make no sense. You can tell the author really lost his footing.
