Can’t believe they added the moon from gmod to irl

fr someone is gonna actually make a full 1-to-1 scale of the solar system.

Waiting for people to implement light speed and warp speed in Gmod so we can have actual space travel. I used to think stuff like this was impossible, but these people just keep blowing my mind, and if there's anything I've learned from the Gmod community, it's that people are extremely determined and dedicated, and always manage to achieve the seemingly impossible or unexpected.

Someone needs to make a desert bus kind of thing with this.

Last thing we need is 1:1 spacebuild map, so that we can fly a whole apollo mission in Gmod, and sit a whole week in the game

I would have liked to see normal speed movement right next to Earth or the Moon just to really demonstrate the scale.

just makes me remember Portal 2. if you have played then you know the ending. that portal travels from earth to the moon in around 2 seconds of time. that is a super far distance

tbh I would be so glad if they made a game like "the long drive" with this mod

There is a addon that lets you build own spaceship, imagine how long it'll take to go to the moon in one.

we need more specific infbase maps, like infinite underground trains, etc.

Fun fact, you can fit every single planet in the Solar system between Earth and the Moon. "We've got Space Engine at home" Space Engine at home: (Jokes aside, this is super impressive and I never thought anything like this would be possible in Source.

If you're intrested in vastnes of space you might like to play KSP (kerbal space program). It has fictional celestial bodies with about 1/10 scale of irl counterparts but thats still pretty damn large.

The game will probably crumble, but with the ability to make maps massive, one could recreate real towns and villages one-to-one. Cities would be too much resources I feel like.

And here i thought we got a playable map with the entire moon surface available to walk. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

The Earth is not 1 to 1 scale. Maybe the distance from the moon and earth but in terms of Earth's size, it's not 1 to 1.

Make a fist with one hand and hold up your thumb with the other, then hold both arms straight out. That's roughly the scale of the earth and the moon

space turning white is probably because you are moving faster than the backdrop skybox can update? so you are seeing the map without the backdrop basically which also allows you to see everything that is not part of that backdrop (earth and moon) unrelated note now all we need is some kind of addon to give said earth and moon accurate gravity so you can actually walk around it proper and some kind of addon to make cities and ground and clouds and stuff appear around each player on the earth! might sound impossible but being able to play on a 1 to 1 scale earth and moon map in the source engine also seemed impossible only a few years ago! either way I am excited to see what comes next
