Battlefield 1 won a vote recently vs ALL of the other Battlefield games on Reddit. Let's play and discuss why it was so good. Leave a LIKE and a comment, thanks for watching.
Hey Jack, just wanted to let you know that yes, the French did indeed have blue postal boxes during the time depicted: "From 1830 to 1899, wooden boxes were painted grey with a white or grey door. Until 1912 they were bronze green. Then, up until 1939, they were sky blue, dark blue or dark green. From 1940 to 1955 they were petrol or dark blue, then navy blue up to 1961. From then until 1985 postboxes were orange yellow, and from 1985 onwards, daffodil yellow." Another win for a title that DICE clearly poured all their collective passion and skill into (let's hope they do it again some day!)
Hands down, Bf1 is THE best battlefield title. A masterpiece of a game. The devs really gave it their most. The behemoths are always a perfect addition to the chaos. And Jack you went off!
The gun play in BF1 is too simplistic, the explosive spam was oppressive as well. BF1 was an amazing game but BF4 had the bets gun play and mechanics. BF3 had the best level design though, so BF2042 really just needed to combine those 2.
The battles through trenches were amazing, totally unlike any other game or game mode. I can't believe they thought Grand Operations in BF5 was an improvement
@@Pablo-om8cj Games have continued to develop technically. Battlefield 2042 has significantly improved weather effects and The Finals has a novel destruction model and lighting that reacts much better in real-time to those destructions (using UE5's Lumen RT). Not to mention higher resolution textures, reflections, shadows, etc.
The attention to detail in this game is unmatched. If someone throws a grenade near you, your character starts to panic, breathing heavily and sometimes screams.
BF5 does this too but with way better visuals, I just don't get the hype with BF1 when BF5 is the same but with the best visuals of any battlefield game
@@eafan48 because Battlefield one has a better atmosphere overall. It really feels like a tribute to the war rather than just making a game about it. It also has weapon balancing, maps, Fun game modes, and even an ARG for people who are into that (me).
I just downloaded it again after I've seen this video and it's still INCREDIBLE!!!! OMG!! I can't remember when i enjoyed gaming this much last time!!!! Absolutely brilliant!!!! Thank you man, so appreciate you!!
One of the coolest little details I ever witnessed in BF1 was when I levelled up while playing - as one does, nothing special -, but a friendly soldier literally said "Congraulations to your promotion!". It's not a normal voice line, and I am pretty sure the teammate who's soldeir said that didn't get it on his end, but I'm to this day amazed it's in the game... That's something you wouldn't notice or see (or rather, hear) that often, but still the devs took the time and effort to put it in the game... I think BF1 very much deserves it's title of best BF game, it certanly is for me!
I think they put in rare call outs. I remember in battlefield Hardline we where all stuck in a staircase with molotovs and bullets flying everywhere and one of the models randomly call out, "who's f***n idea was this!?" I've only heard it once in years of playing it
Also, A fellow soldier will commend you ehen you get a satisfying kill. I appreciate the fact that its one of the few WW1 games that made through the WW2 cluster(which is usually the mainstream genre). Verdun and Isonzo couldnt get 'Beyond The Wire'(DoI mod), all were fun
For me, it's the map design that really gets my nostalgia for BF1 flowing. The maps looked incredible and were super immersive. They felt like actual places and, for the most part, played incredibly well, too.
I discovered your channel when BF1 was about to release and recently returned to play it and to think I could have played in a match with you all these years later is surreal
I was a COD player, but when I saw your videos of BF1, I subbed and started playing BF1 and it's one of my favorite games in terms of graphics, gameplay and immersion. I was able to bring even my PUBG friends over to this game. They were all blown away and still respect this game.
One of the most underated or less noticed things in video games that bf1 did amazing is sound design. From the planes firing overhead to the echoing gunshots from others fighting it out. Even stuff like advancing in operations. Explosions and screams in the background. Everything was so on point with the sound. It felt like you were on an actual battlefield. evrything else was on point too. The destruction and visuals were epic. Starting on a clean map and ending with a bunch of muddy craters and collapsed buildings all across the map. It was truly epic. A true battlefield experience.
The attention to detail in the sound design was amazing, when you fired your weapons depending on the surface the shell casing landed on like sand, wood, tile, concrete etc. it would have a different sound for each.
@@VintageGameZ Yeah they really thought of everything its pretty crazy. And than you compare it to 2042 release and they wonder why there numbers are dropping.
@@lcn2snipeit was the OST, SFX and art pallet all 2gether that's sold it. Also BF was coming off of BF4 being loved after the bad launch. Combined with the BF1 trailer going viral and the lack of WW2 themed games at the time made this WW1 game pop in many eyes. Also being in the middle of a console generation meant they didn't have to make it for 5 platforms. Plus COD was doing really bad at the time and FPS games in general. The timing was literally perfect for its launch. There was alot of luck that made BF1 so successful at the same time as skill and passion ppl forget. Compare it to BFV or BF2042 they both they were almost doomed from launch. BR games were in full swing during their launches, 2042 came out right when a new console was just launched so it was bound to have alot of bugs. BFV trailer doomed it from the start. 2042 trailer actually was good but it was lies. 2042 was too ambitious with 128 players making the maps poorly designed to allow the higher player count. 2042 eas coming off of BFV which gave it a disadvantage. BFV came out the same time as Warzone I believe so it had no chance and alot of ppl forget BF1 got alot of hate during its life cycle so that hurt BFV chances. BF1 only got love after BFV came out I noticed
BF1 was such a crafted experience that I moved to Belgium just to have better access to all the Great War museums here. Shout-out to the In Flanders Fields museum of Ypres.
4:39 BRUH…. 😂💀 “WITNESS ME!!!!!! YEEEEESSSSS” I am surprised to see BF1 at the top. But I can see their point. I feel we all took it for granted during its time. I would love a BF1 pt2
You were the first RU-vid gamer I subscribed to, around when this game dropped. You gave me a lot of pointers, got better. Love this game, Cheers jack.
I’ve never seen a comment for this but I loved being the squad leader and issuing the Go Go Go command, you blew a whistle and it felt so cinematic with everybody movie forward during the start of the game or during compact environments
Dude FR! When playing Operations and you capture the zones there is a whistle audio that plays with the roaring of the soldiers. I used to love blowing my whistle after the initial audio to be more cinematic!
This was by far my favorite and most played battle field. Was a huge fan of the series but you are 100% right with how this had such a unique feeling to it. I played on ps4 at the time on a 100inch projection screen. Sometimes i would use surround sound instead of headphones for a unreal cinematic experience.
On the postboxes, in the UK if someone from your town won a gold medal at the London Olympics you got a gold post box. We got one for Bradley Wiggins 🥇
The fact it states on that first opening mission that you're not expected to survive the war to end all wars that changed nothing. So real intense game play and cut scenes in this and bf5 pretty much every bf game has had epic cutscenes
Bf1 is a masterpiece. The feel, movement, and truly rewarding each playing style. Sniping is so satisfying, being medic is rewarding, and assault you can actually be damaging and not just in a blender. The graphics are just the icing on top for a game that is nearly 10 years old.
I think one of the most underrated parts about this game is how well they delineated the classes. Yes, some guns are a little overtuned, but each class' role feels so unique and defined within the game that you can kind of use whatever you want and not feel like a wet towel simply because you're not using the hellriegel.
I think the soundtrack of this game really creates the immersion. A good soundtrack cannot be overstated. When you get down to 50 tickets in operations and the music starts to kick in it creates that tension and then it ramps up and it really creates that sense of urgency to get to that flag. Haha maybe that soundd a little weird, but a games soundtrack and sound design are important to me, and in BF1 I feel like I'm in a WW1 movie. And this game is a stand out especially in the audio department
Call of duty world at war had the samething as well in the war mode the music would kick in when you needed to capture remaining flags to win the game you could feel the intensity kick up as the music changed into a higher pace tune
BF1 is such a solid game. Im still playing it whenever i can for long hour sessions, mainly hardcore. One you understand the mechanics and especially once you understand the difference of enemy foot and gun sounds you can trully exploit the potential in gameplay. The very only thing about the game that i wish wasn't a thing is the supression affecting your aim. But everything else is TOP!
Your battlefield One videos. Is when I first started watching you jack. And I had never played any battlefield games but fell in love with and have played the hell out of battlefield one. still with potato aim and no situational awareness. But love it all the same. Great memories watching you stack bodies across the battlefield. And whenever I see a new video of yours that's battlefield one I immediately click on it. I was so excited seeing this video.!
I became a subscriber when you were posting bf1 vids daily (around 2017). As someone who was new to BF, I loved watching your videos because it made me play better and I'd always learn something new about the game. I remember bf1 being pretty controversial back then, so I'm glad to see it's finally getting all the love and praise it deserves! Also arguably the best soundtrack ever made.
It’s the sound. BF1 immediately immerses you into the harsh environment and landscapes by capturing your auditory senses; every explosion, distant crack of a rifle, nearby flames, or eery screams. The majestic overhead rush of a plane, or the deep grumbling of a tank around the corner. It all fits perfectly. The sweep of wind as you crest a ridge, the finality of the blast of a fortress gun aimed at you, or the total absurdity of chaos from the behemoth airship. It’s detail, detail, beauty, and design and creation from love.
battlefield 1 had some of the best gunplay ever. I can’t describe it, but the clunky old feeling of the weapons, wether having a semi, full auto, shotgun or sniper, seriously gave the gunfights weight to them. It made skill not really as focused, but how much you knew your weapon. Seriously, BF1 plays unlike any other battlefield game. Unique, and definitely amazing.
I loved that each weapon and class played so differently, especially after BF4 where so many classes kinda merged with similar weapon and gadget choices. The weapons in BF1 with unique secondary modes, like the Pedersen device and General Liu, and variations like the RSC SMG made the weapon choices incredibly unique compared to any game ever.
I thought the game had mid grade gun mechanics. The bullet drop and shooting in BF3 and BC2 2 was just better. Sure the guns of the era have a part in that but they didn't feel the same in BF1.
Battlefield one was amazing. The sound, visuals, music, atmosphere, it got so many things right. The guns and how they sound, explosions, hit markers, kill sounds, animation, all amazing. If you look at any other Battlefield game and compare it to this you'll really understand how different and truly enjoyable bf1 really was. I wish more people played this game, so I could relive 2017 again.
I first played this when I was 9…and I’m nearly 17 now. Under the supervision of my dad of course 🤣. BF1 is one of my favourite games of all time. Still play it now.
I started on BF Bad Company, and Bad Company 2, but my first real entry I dived into was BF3. Since then, only BF1 has me still coming back. I can boot up BF1 right now and have a blast. BFV not so much. I would say BF3 for the nostalgia but BF1 captured something magical and special, I have such fond memories of that game.
BF1 and BF3 are the kings of battlefield, bf3 for modern and bf1 for world war content. DICE can literally remaster BF3 and release it with zero changes outside of updated graphics and they would PRINT money. So many people want to play BF3 but it's unplayable in any real way at the moment. BF4 blows and doesn't even close to scratch the itch bf3 gave.
Love to see you in battlefield 1 again! Still my favorite game and I play it daily. (Also, to answer why the blimp was late, a behemoth only spawns in when one team has a minimum 100 point lead over the other, must have been a close round all the way through for it to spawn so late.)
Frontlines was the greatest mode of any battlefield, especially at first when the games had no time limits. Had some crazy fights on this map on operations too.
The most epic game ever, atmosphere, sounds, immersion, gameplay. I could play this forever, imagine if they just updated this with new maps and operations...
My favorite battle feild game and my first battlefield game. Dad also enjoyed it to when I first got my PlayStation. Love when you come back and play older games.
Your videos from Christmas 2022 slaying on BF1 is what made me build a new PC last summer and put hundreds of hours into it since last October after getting bored with the latest CODs. BF1 is like playing in a movie and I've never experienced a game that captures you on so many levels of emotions, sensation and senses in general. Keep em vids coming with the GOAT that is BF1
I’m in my early 30’s as I’m sure many of you are around the same age. I have very little time to play games anymore with work/family and I’m okay with that. I still enjoy playing BF1 to this day as many of you. I just don’t understand why a game like this can’t be released again. Lastly, I got new OLED TV recently and seeing this game on there was incredible to say the least. Please Dice, make us all happy again!
3100 hours between PC and PS4. The perfect mix of PTFO sweat and chill fragging. The atmosphere and visuals are aging like wine in a basement. Best multiplayer FPS ever.
well, the trailer of this game was a banger with seven nation army playing. Everything about this game is epic. I think its the best of the battlefields because has a lot of real events and battles that indeed happened. And the opening when you re just a normal soldier fighting and getting overruned. The peace of the pigeon flying and hell beneath it... so awesome, thats was battlefield.
so incredible lol i remember the first images of this game with the green gas or whatever and i was like OMGSH the graphics are so beautiful!!! man the memories
Jack - *goes prone next to two tanks chucking dynamite at them* Jack - "WITNESS ME!!!" There's a reason your my favorite RU-vidr. Awesome video as always Jack. Much love.
I used to love playing this game with absolutely no Hud on hardcore. Because the uniforms are so distinct, you can easily tell who is friend or foe. It makes it so much more immersive! I would absolutely love to see you play like that. It would make for a much better video experience for us to watch in my opinion. And probably a nice challenge for you
I think currently, battlefield 1 is definitely the best. But at it's height battlefield 3 felt like the franchise peak. The game was fun, the community was cool, the lobbies were awesome. Everything just worked. I was also in college when life was simple and fun.
I just got back to playing this game a few days ago and it’s hard to think of a reason on why I stopped. The ambiance in this game and the realness of feeling like you are in an active war will never be beat. The detail in everything even in something not really spoken about like the sound track is so good. I catch myself humming the intro all the time 😂
Just finished up some achievements I never got on the Xbox version and got that clean 2000/2000. Campaign was quite fun and had some great moments as well, particularly the first campaign story, Through Mud and Blood... "Edwaaaaaaaards! Release. The pigeon." Then you get that heart-wrenching 'Flight of the Pigeon' song. The soundtrack is absolutely amazing and gripping. There's a $250 vinyl of it on discogs I've been eyeballing for the better part of a year, lol.
Bf1 was always my favorite. But I never thought it would win! I remember back when it released that I loved it, but there were always so many bf4 and bf3 people complaining about it, that I didn't think it was that popular. I'm glad to see though, it means I can download it again lmao
Unrivalled overall experience...the heart and soul of BF game was all in here...in buckets...the cinematic perspective was just the cherry on the top... I do love BF4 though... Playing BF since BF2 on PC...
so when i got my first job (parents never bought me a console growing up) my first check i bought a xbox 1 bf1 bundle, and for the longest time i only played this game and god was i contempt with that. this game is phenomenal.
People hate on 5 because it didn't "accurately" follow popular war periods but gameplay wise I still think it had the best mechanics and movement of all the games
@@allpraisewebb1142and they were following and agenda and didn’t really listen to the bf5 fans and even broke sum parts of the game luckily theyre gone
What made it my favorite was the amazing destruction mechanics. Each battle truly felt like their own, especially when a slain behemoth is fallen on the battlefield
Jack you are like battlefield 1. An absolute masterclass that never gets old and lasts the test of time. Thank you for your content and long live battlefield 1!
The atmosphere, graphics and grittyness of BF1 The amount of content and gameplay possibilities from BF4 The destruction of BFBC2 and BF3(+ BF3 had some nice graphics as well for its age) The gunplay of BF5 = Perfect BF ever made.
So many memories i have around 1.5k hours, operations was the new mode introduced in this one and in my opinion the best option to play as it was the closest u could get a feeling of being in the war(teamwork was mandatory in comparison to conquest where many times u were just running solo),atmosphere soundtrack everything top notch the whistles the maps, its sad how they dropped the ball after.Battlefield 5 had really good movement and gunplay but except the pacific front that i liked (feeling of a war) nothing was close to this one. Top gaming moment/feelings for me it was this one, after san andreas when i was much younger nothing after these two personally for me
It sold more than BF3 because it was riding off of the success is bf4 but after the launch everybody went back to bf3/4 because BF1 was mid and they ruined the soldier movement and gunplay from bf3/4 and BF1/5 totally destroyed RUSH battlefield’s greatest game mode
BF1 was respectful of its history in all the ways BFV wasn't. I missed the expansive design philosophy of BF4, but the result was an extremely tight game that felt great on a fundamental level.
I think BF3 is my favourite as it was my first and it's what helped me discover gaming content creators, such as yourself and "the squad" (which is still my favourite series on RU-vid as a whole). There are too many fond memories of the game for it to be anywhere other than first. Plus the map design and loading screen music are absolutely unbeatable! BF1 did do everything right though and ticks every box! Plus the launch trailers coupled with the mix of celebrities and creators playing at E3 will forever be unbeaten.
I feel like an aspect no one talks about is the interface and the choice of typography used to relay information. It’s so clean and resonates so well with the era
BF1 is my personal favorite BF. If 128 players and big maps were to be implemented in any BF, it's BF1. Imagine the behemoths out in the distance, knowing it's chaos where it's at.
I'm almost 640 hours in since launch and still playing it. It's by far my favorite shooter I've ever played. They really knocked it out of the park with this one
Used to go over my mates house every Friday with my playstation and set it up next to his one so we could play operations together like a sort of old school split screen, Some of the greatest moments ive ever had playing a BF game. Nothings come close since
