I think my favourite deck is Anti Meta Chaos because in theory banish floodgates should NOT mix with Chaos Sorc in main

GX era formats were pretty underrated IMHO. Retro players often place Goat in pedestal when in reality there are other great retro format like Perfect Circle, Reaper Chaos Return, or even newer ones like Edison and Tengu Plants are great too. All of them also provides great variety and playstyles

I mean I certainly get the wide appeal of Goat, but yes there are PLENTY of fun alternatives out there! Goat is just the gateway lol

@@shredded_lettuce I'd still consider it DM. While it bleeds into the start of GX with TLM, the list is pre-TLM.

@@shredded_lettuce TLM is the only GX set in the format, and I think E Hero and Ancient Gears is what makes it considered GX. But cards like Brain Control is already known in DM anime. I, too, consider it's still DM since it's Cyber Dragon that radically changes how the game played back then.

I think my favourite part of these videos is the fact you're using the original scans etc of the cards, just adds so much nostalgia to it.

You're right about Chaos Return being an improved Goat format. This was around the time I began to "get" the game and REALLY improve skill-wise.

This. Lack of trinity reduce the topde cking factor and forced you to be better at resource management. While Chaos Return Format isn't my most favorite retro format, it's surely stands in top 3 (after ocg perfect circle era and tengu plant)

One of my favorite formats, even moreso than goat control! I played several variants of Return from the Different Dimension which was probably my favorite card at the time. The deck I arguably played the most of was an earth beatdown strategy with Berserk Gorilla, Giant Rat, Injection Fairy, and Gigantes/Bazoo to fuel a Return from the Different Dimension push. It was bizarre to me how long it took to see Return from the Different Dimension get abused because it ended games so quickly and its powerful enablers had actually been legal for a while at this point.

The problem with GX era is that Konami was too afraid of making good archetype cards, take E-Hero Giant Thunder as an example, that card could've banished a card on the field without targeting instead of discard to target and kill a monster and elemental heroes wouldnt been meta anyways.
