I did this today. Bought the belt kit from FCP as well as a crank seal guard on my 2014 F30 335i Just to let you all know. The most time consuming part was removing the bolts from the harmonic balancer as well as putting them back, since you’re basically doing it blind. Trying to torque each one also took a while since I kept losing track which bolt I torqued already. Also I had my car lifted since I was doing a trans fluid change with pan. I found removing and installing the bolts were easier from the bottom. Replacing the tensioner, bearing and belt wasn’t a problem. ** also since you’re in there, I highly recommend changing the plastic Mickey Mouse flange to aluminum as well.

I will be doing a crank shaft oil seal change and I now know that doing that job will not do any timing issues. I hope no need to disconnect the battery. Please correct me if I am wrong.
This catastrophe happened to me with my N52 engine. I'm so pissed off that BMW or my mechanics never warned me of this. I'm thinking of filing a 'class action lawsuit" against BMW for their faulty engine design, their negligence in failing to issue a recall or put out advisory notice, and for the damages it causes to thousands of BMW car owners, like myself. Any words of advice?
I'm actually unsure how that would go legally. I would think it would lean in BMWs favor because if it was that bad they would issue a recall and they could always site that the belt wasn't properly serviced. They also have the inner seal as an additional form of protection. That's looking at it for face value, but if you look at the situation with the n20 engine and timing chain you might have a chance. However, that fix only helped people with less than 75k (I think). Good luck

I see that you torqued down the harmonic balancer bolts from underneath the car. Did you remove the under tray to gain access? Was anything else removed

@@FritzRamos it is, but mine now has a hole in it. It should last a while but will need to order a new one eventually. You tempted me too much now i'm upgrading swaybars and endlinks :(
Used a flat head screwdriver packed with rubber on both sides so it doesn't affect the engine block and squeezed in between from the left hand side. The shredded serpentine belt was causing the Jam!!!!! Thanks for the reply mate. Hats off for your excellent works, video recording, classification and detailing.
@@FritzRamos I do, just want to do some pro active work before anything goes wrong. I upgraded the charge pipe, boost pipe, intercooler, intake, intake inlet, and added an oil catch can. The car is tuned and I also did a axle back exhaust. Any recommendations to keep the engine as healthy as possible I know sometimes the timing chain is an issue. I have a 2015 428i n26
Thanks for these instructions. I attempted this but found it really difficult to loosen the bolts with so little room and got stuck trying to fit a torque wrench in to reinstall them. I made a quick video complementing yours on how I followed these instructions but with one change: I pushed the radiator fan assembly up about 3-4” to make room to fit a torque wrench from below.
