I’ve been using this for a few weeks and it’s pretty great. I can confirm there is some ghosting when viewing white text on black backgrounds, but it’s otherwise outstanding in picture quality. Even fast paced games run well on it.
They used to release unboxing vids before full review videos. Sure it was a way to double dip and get two videos instead of one, but at least they actually did reviews. I guess full reviews take too long and you can't make 17 videos a week so they just unbox a bunch of stuff and then cast it aside to unbox something else. 17 shallow videos a week isn't an accomplishment in my opinion.
@@craiggerhardstein7305 Yeah, the 'second in charge' was the piece I didn't realize. I figured it was him and linus and maybe 1 or 2 other people that kind of 'ran' everything. I'm thinking making they should take their head shooter guy, and make it a 3 way, mind meld, and If i was linus, I would try to delegate a little more...esp of the business stuffs. Like maybe trust a few more of the day to day stuffs to other ppls and schedule briefings from them once a week, they can be phone calls while linus is commuting or whatever so he can at least step in once a week to fix/correct whatever, but so the schedule isn't filled with as many random "oh i have this meeting that doesn't have anything to do with filming" Also, like homeboy was saying about it being better to have a big stack of videos all waiting to be edited, I think they should either take some shooters/writers and have them shoot over the weekend. And have a Monday video ready to put out, before the weekend shooting takes place, And just plan for Monday videos to be the longer form vlog or special shoots that take longer, so that you can give yourself a buffer on mon/tuesday from ur prepared video, and the videos you shot over the weekend. And have a small set for a quick talking head vid if big news came out for linus or someone to address in a real quick shoot on a set already ready. Like James was saying, front loading the week with videos' makes the rest of the week go by so smooth, you should build front loading of the week into the schedule, so then if that doesn't happen for some reason, THEN the week becomes difficult, instead of every week being difficult unless you get lucky with a front loaded week. you can get ahead by banking 2-5 extra videos in one week. so do 20-23 videos, fully and completely done in one week by utilizing OT or taking some back end work off some ppls plates so they can bank the video time and catch up on the other stuff after. etc. Then, you can keep up the 17/week video pace, without as much of a headache knowing you're actually a day or 2 ahead of schedule, always. And then, you don't have to do that week of hell again unless you let that buffer of 5 video's decrease back down to nothing and every week becomes a struggle again. biggest thing tho...linus has too much business behind the scenes stuff and too much on camera stuffs to be doing both without both being sacrificed a little each way, which is just wasted money, money that could be used to hire someone to do the things that are splitting linus' time. Take some stuff off linus, and turn them into email/calls/updates and streamline some processes that tend to take up time or lag behind because of the time constraints, like it looked like linus' script reviews might be a little bit of a problem... I think if james proofed all the scripts, and did the script review with linus instead of the writer, then have james talk with them about linus' notes, that would probably go much faster, and James could fit in questions about scripts he was on the fence about while he's accosting linus throughout his day, instead of waiting for a specific time for him to be able to sit down and do the review. Then, hopefully in time james can read linus' mind well enough that he can 'approve' at least some scripts without linus and then that's ANOTHER thing off Linus' plate so he can do more meetings or more camera work or have a day that ends before like 10pm every night. lol and yeah....everything Linus does should have definite, hard outs. I think linus would actually REALLY benefit from a personal assistant/executive assistant etc. Like, the kind of assistant that picks up your drycleaning and makes appointments for you for dinner etc. so linus can literally just have 1 person he asks all his questions to, and that person figures out the answers or arranging other ppl to have time in the schedule to explain it etc. that why linus can just be ushered from one set to another from one appt to another without having to always be keeping track of it in his head or on his phone, etc. and so someone off camera can be like hey fucker, hurry up you only got 20 more mins or ur whole schedule gets fkd. lol
Looks like the first monitor I've seen in recent times that actually checks off all of the boxes while not being more pricy than a TV that does the same exact things. It's still only 43 inches but I mean 43 inches is kind of stupid massive on most desktops I've seen. Also it being an LCD honestly helps me sleep a little bit better at night since it means you're not going to be burning in this screen because you left the taskbar on or your choice in wallpaper either as you sleep and forgot to turn off your PC. OLEDs look amazing, I know as I had one but they do burn-in and it mentally hurts when it happens to you.
OLED tech has evolved a lot through the years, I’ve had OLEDs and used them for monitors and had no issues. IF you leave it on for like 72 hours yeah you might have an issue.
@@88joshuajohnathan And I've seen people with QD-OLEDs with burn-in after 3 months. It's a risk and I'm pretty certain at this point now it's not going to be like a CRT where you don't actually have to think about it. If that was the case then manufactures would still not trying to squeeze out as much as possible out of an LCD display, they'd just make it for the cheapest TVs possible only and then make oleds for anything over a certain price point. I think micro-led which is still a ways off is what will kill lcds off completely since that's just none of the faults of oled and all the benefits. That's still years away though. Until then there is a choice people will need to make.
@@sheep2000 I have fv43u thinking of selling it. I had it for almost 7 months. For my desk setup it's way to close. Gaming on it is amazing! Probably the best gaming monitor I had! I do use it for work and text is not the best. I was thinking of m32u or m32uc. Still deciding
I have this monitor, it's great no complaints, i would like to point out that the HDMI ports are only 120hz and not 144hz. The monitor is QLed and has great blacks to contrast with the bright whites from the HDR1000 feature.
And what could be that better aspect ratio? For me 16:9 is a very good balance between vertical space of 3:2 and immersive experience of ultrawide monitors.
Just picked one of these up second hand in the UK for £230.. It is only eight months old and still had plastic stickers on the back... Love this monitor, wall mounting at the weekend 👍
@@Lt.Shineysides89 Have patience mate and keep looking.. that is the key..i was scouring the net for months.. i have a triple 27 inch sim rig that i love, but can honestly say that since i bought this i have barely used my rig. Paired with my 3090 this monitor is the mutts nuts for 4k gaming :-)
@@deannelson1388 I will keep looking regularly until i find a good deal. I only have one 27inch but for what i use it for it's enough i just think it's time to make the jump to something bigger and more immersive. I have a 3080ti so not as baller haha but still more than capable of handling anything especially the types of games i mainly play.
I just got one. Its the best monitor I've ever had. Its really everything all in one. high end TV, high end Monitor with anything that you could ask for and more. Thanks for the review.
Too much glare. If it's that glossy you can just buy the 42" LG OLED that comes soon. LCDs can be deglared much better. My OLED's glare is a pain in the butt and destroys the perfect black advantage.
On the other hand, there are people like me and some other people I've found on Reddit and hardware forums. I use an Acer G24 from 2007 as my main display still because it has a glossy finish and the colors look amazing. No gaming monitor since then has had such a nice glossy finish, and I've been looking forward to a return to the era of awesome glossy monitors. I can't afford an Apple pro display or I'd get that, but that's not high refresh rate. This particular Gigabyte monitor looks like one of the first I'm interested in, though it's a bit too big for my desk. I'd like a glossy display that's a nice 24" size with 16:10 aspect ratio like I'm used to, or even taller. 27" with a 3:2 aspect ratio would be great too, or even a curved ultrawide with multiple inputs for bezel-free side-by-side usage. It feels impossible to find exactly what I want, especially considering not only are glossy displays extremely rare nowadays, but even if displays are glossy, the product pages often don't list the type of finish, despite how much it matters.
Theyre on a set filled with lights for filming so yeah theres going to be a lot of glare because of it. Its probably not going to be that bad in real life use.
Would love to see a full review, one thing I have noted when monitors have a PiP or PbP function the function is not displayed or detailed how it works, or if it changes how the monitor functions. Like I’d love to know if a PS5 would run side by side with a streaming stick without it affecting the monitor performance. Let’s get a review and include that!
What is annoying is that whilst most 32"+ screens seem to have PBP... they are NOT equal. My BenQ 32" 4k display, while pretty great for office work... can only do 2x1920x1080 when PBP... so half the screen is useless... I want 2x1920x2160... the ASUS XG43UQ does... but it is about 400$ more expensive... would love a comparison review between a few 43"ers...
I have a newfound respect for this guy after seeing their how we make 17-video's in one week video. He's a pretty good project manager. Also, I like how the monitor menu is logically laid out, BenQ could learn a lot from Aorus!
@@gervinpim No it is actualy almost the fastest, which is physicaly possible on 48". Moreover I am pretty sure the cx is able to do under 10ms with 120hz not in 4k however. Still the cx keeps destroying every other gaming monitor thanks to far superior picture quality and insane pixel response times, which actualy feels smoother than most 144hz monitors.
@@gervinpim most gaming monitors only shave off an extra 2-4ms. Less than 1 frame at 144 or 120hz. On top of that latency from rendering can push total end to end latency to 20+ ms even with very high end monitors. Linus has done many different videos on it. In the end monitors or tvs with less than 20ms is basically imperceptible.
@@Slay1337pl Yeah I still like to see some video reviews on it to help justify my purchase haha. The few written reviews on it have been outstanding though.
Thanks for sharing your infos. My monitor will arrive at the beginning of next week and my actual 40 zoll Ilyama goes to my wife for looking RU-vid videos. Hope my hardware is enough with rtx 2080TI and i9900 k cpu... maybe the weakest point. Will be better next year.
Well for a while we barely could even get all those things in one package. You can get close, but usually not with HDR1000 and all the other things it has. And usually something with all the latest and greatest craziness has been stuff ASUS and Acer will put out for like $3000.
@@chettlar212 yeah haha I assumed you were replying to the one that said "it better be for $1000" I remember paying that for a 1680x1050 22" whose most advanced feature was a DVI port 😂
It's a year past this review and I bought this monitor from Newegg for under 700 bucks. I gotta say, for sub 700, this monitor is a freaking beast. Like holy shit I can do so much stuff with it and it looks very good.
James seems to be speedrunning the unboxing and impressions in this video but honestly after watching the behind the scenes vid on LMG I don't even blame him. They probably had like 20 other things to do this day as well lmao
That looks really interesting! I'm looking for a monitor that would be reasonably color accurate and reasonably fast for both work and gaming and if it holds up to its claims, it could be a pretty good option. That is, if they make it in a smaller size. 32 inches is ridiculous lol. Anyway I'd absolutely like a full review.
@@BeHempy At some point when do people realize this is all too much and the longer you wait, the smarter you are. My ASUS monitor cost $650 at the time of purchase, similar generic panels can be had at $250/300 range.
@@peterm.7497 Yeah I know what you mean. I tend to "upgrade" way too often. I currently have dual 27" 165hz 1440p panels and am going to try this giant 4K panel. If I like it I will switch but I can totally see myself getting LGs 42" OLED whenever that releases. I guess I'm the problem...
@@BeHempy I'm eyeing the LG 4k TVs in the future for big-screen, high-refresh rate video gaming via HDMI. But I plan to wait till they sell them at gas stations and NVIDIA gpu's from miners flood the market at a reasonable. price.
Review this sucker, compare it to the lg cx please. I know its oled vs a va panel with quantom dots. But if I had to guess it probably compares on price point
@@BeHempy They both have HDMI 2.1, but you need a 3000 series GPU to take advantage of that. A 2000 series can take advantage of DSC meaning you can use display port to get the same things and even better.
Only had mine a day and so far its great, word of warning though to anyone buying this for console gaming only. On a sound setting of 1 its still very loud and as you cant control the sound on a console you probably wont be able to use this at night unless the rest of your family are heavy sleepers :) Ofc you can get other speakers and use it that way but as for the onboard ones you wont.
4K 144hz HDR1000 is actually very exiting for 1000$ and I am really looking forward for this tech to become even 'cheaper' imagine this tech and deep blacks for 400$ in maybe just 3 years
Sooo i just looked at their web, with the PIP/PBP feature, i could play my nintendo switch/PS2, without problems with my pc running in the "background" with discord and whatever else? Sounds cool, gotta start saving for one of these.
I have a 32" monitor and, no, it's not a TV. The difference between a monitor and a TV is not the size. It's the feature set, performance, and to some extent, intended use-case. This monitor has the feature set and performance of a monitor.
On my desk I had 2 monitors, two keyboards and a pair of speakers a gaming box with a Ryzen 9 3950 and a RTX3080 and a wimpy laptop provided by my employer. Enter the FV43U. I got rid of one keyboard, the pair of speakers, and two monitors. The FV43U has reasonable speakers and a KVM switch. Profit! In the past, KVM boxes only supported mediocre resolutions. (not sure about recent products).
I'm locked in to my 2020 LG that's 49" but 43" is so perfect man. I moved from a 43" TV as a Montior(Before I used a 42"). I love the 49" and I have adapted. I'm just giving my opinion based on a Decade of 40" Displays. 43" is the Highest you should go(I got the 49" because it was the only way t get 120Hz in anything under 55").
Little known fact; If you don't unbox & assemble this monitor quickly enough, Knee will personally come by your house & Taunt Jet Upper your head clean off off!
Will be buying LG OLED with HDMI 2.1, 4K 120,in October, on my bday.. No more lcd. Ips monitor only, for productivity and MP games like apex legends, warzone... For that I have 34in ultrawide 144hz.. Smoot af..
People are acting like a monitor over a thousand is reasonable and normal, meanwhile I'm shocked by the price. I knew it'd be expensive, but holy cow. 43" is probably out of my price range for a while.
After watching the Making 17 videos in a week video, its funny noticing the times on the watch and monitor. These videos clearly take a long time to make. But they're worth it.
Why on earth would you outfit a monitor like this with 18w usb-c pd? It should be at least 45w to charge a work ultrabook. The entire point of usb-c is to have the expensive gaming computer plug in via displayport or hdmi 2.1, and then the secondary work laptop plug in and charge via usb-c.
This is the review sample model only, the real model that will be shipped to the market will suffer from back light bleeding like the 90% of the monitors in stores from all brands...;)
