With no display port in the back of this dell workstation, how do you hook up displays? I am considering buying this and I currently use (3) monitors to my current dell xps, all 3 are display ports. Would I just use USB to DP adapters for the monitors? Will that hurt resolution? TY

Hi, great video, and of particular interest to me because I'm thinking of buying a Dell 5820 *very* similar to the spec of your model (but with a lower spec graphics card and a monitor that would actually fit in my room 😃), and so I hope you can help answer one question... ... how quiet is this Dell workstation? I want to place it in my bedroom and so I'm looking for power without the noise (he says!). All the reviews I've read suggests the 5820 is quieter than its competitors with similar spec machines. In your experience is it a quiet PC, even when pushed? Or should I be prepared for rather distracting fan noise 🤔 Thanks in advance.

It's bigger than the desk!!! That really is HUGE!!!!! Hopefully it puts out a lot of heat and will keep you warm.

Dell does have nice wide screen monitors. I have one at work (not as big as yours) and miss it when I am working from home

That monitor is awesome! Don't suppose that little black box is some type of 3d imager? Might be fun to see what you can do with photogrametry. Also you might benefit from FancyZones, a bit of software that lets you make a custom snap grid for open programs. You can get it as part of PowerToys on the Microsoft github page. Can't wait to see what you two model out next!

I'm sure you'll love the PC, but monitor, i'm sure it's an upgrade over something smaller, but if I have to pick 120hz vs size, I go 120 hz every time. I do have my primary monitor as 42" 120Hz 4k monitor, and 120hz is so much better for your eyes. It's crazy how big of a difference it is. I use my cintiq -- 18" -- and it's 60hz, and switching to that is such a stark contrast due to the refresh rate. When doing 3d modeling, and spinning models around, the higher refresh rate is so nice.

Wow a dell lately that actually didnt find a way to give you 1 stick of ram and stick you in single channel mode. Id take take a look at that shroud around the cpu tho.. more often they hamper airflow more than help, so just rip out the shroud. Because apparently its too hard for a big box builder to actually use any type of reputable cooler vs the cheapest off the shelf fan that doesnt put out crap for static pressure... Dell LOVES saying their machines are quiet but its because airflow sucks and components end up underperforming because of heat. I havent seen anyone ever get what Dell shows in their marketing for the cpu cooler, definitely never an actual tower style which is advertised with a good majority of their systems...

@@natalieisagirlnow As to a plethora of other box builds that actually put in their machines what they advertise. I hate apple for their price, but at least underclocked is better than throttling to protect itself from destroying itself.

@@natalieisagirlnow Yes.. but due to dangerous conditions of the hardware and thus risking lifespan of the hardware. Simply underclocking it prevents throttling due to dangerous condition and inversely EXTENDS the life of the hardware.
