Surely it’s meant to disable the five piece bonuses not every single bonus. Only thing I can think of what they were aiming for : is pairing it with sets like druids braid or trainee - that give no actual “bonuses “- and just give stats. Prob week1 pts blunder

yep if i were to guess, the design concept here was "Oakensoul Ring but sets" but the designer didn't actually do the math on the power sets are providing. like add in all the stats on par of someone wearing two 5 pieces and a monster set on top of the buffs and you have a niche for it.

They should move away from combat sets and do sets that give bonuses similar to the companion passives like increased fishing perks, stealing and fencing perks, find more or better quality loot. Etc

I think they wanted us to interact with this set. They won't make this go to live...it's like the direct opposite of oakensoul day 1...if it comes out. They have an idea of what they want it to be but surely it's broken. Like something crazy all attacks crit AND it can be used with only stat based sets. (new moon, Plague doctors, etc. no procs)

they should add achievements for completing vet hm dungeons with everyone in the party having this equipped, other than that yeah I can't see a single use for it unless it was given to you by doing a level 1 quest in the base game starting zones.

Good idea ! Chameleon stuff !!!!! >> You mimic the capacity and stats of one ally or an ennemy So in that way you gamble every time and temper the bonus of the set. It make the mythic as veteran stuff usefull on both pve ( attack, défense, role swap ) and pvp ( surprising anyone )

here is an idea: also give: 20% more magica, stamina, health, recovery, crit chance and crit damage

On the forums, best theory I've seen is that it's meant for dueling. It evens the playing field between builds to a large degree and forces only basic bonuses like traits and enchants. I quite like the idea of it. It's okay for not every set to be meta, BIS. I don't want it to be BIS because I like sets, but I could see some use cases.

i really thought it meant one if the things that you mentioned it would be good for. being able to play around utilizing parts or pieces of other sets without it being the full set. i thought that would be SUCH a cool idea! and give importance back to some others sets that maybe don't see as much attention. weather it be only utilizing the 5th set bones, or only a certain amount of the other pieces (like just the 1-4 piece stat bonuses) either would be such a cool way to play around this and opens up so much fun versatility with it. i really hope they see this video, would be so fun! the other way to fix it would just be to make the intended stats this ring already gives more (instead of 20% make it 100% or whatever) but that's so boring boring compared to the above

What is the "total damage" percent that makes up any given build from sets? Including stats, maybe this is compairable to the potential provided by a setup like Juli + Sorrow for base damage.

Maybe they are bringing a set that will work with the new set in part of Gold Road! Maybe an an Aylied set, that it has to work with only a set that is Alyied

I have some other problems with this patch notes. Burning was decreased -> DKs got their passives buffed to counter that, totally fine. What about Vampire's Bane or Reflective Light from Templar? A pretty solid part of this skill's damage came from a guaranteed burning, which reapplied rather consistantly. No changes to that skill. Also I have to mention, that this skill deals MAGIC damage itself, and allmost ALL of templar's toolkit does so. MagPlar specifically. What do we have there for Status Effect changes? All the effects have roughly the same initial power now, but most of them now have cool new features. All EXEPT magic damage. Magica steal is not that good by itself, and 64 mag per activation is like a joke in the face. Major Defile was nerfed, so now Dark Flare in PvP will do less harm with its debuff. Yes, it will double hurt shield oriented builds, but shields are on 2 classes(Sorks and Arcanists) and all the others are stronger against this new nerfed Defile. (Same goes with the stamina morph of skeleton from necromancer, by the way) And as a cherry on the top, you now can't use Tormentor with Explosive Charge anymore to mass taunt. Why? I don't know. There is still Beckoning Armor, there is still Swarm Mother, that both do taunt all the pulled targets. Your thoughts?

only thing i can think of that would make thus useful is as next xpac progresses we can upgrade this to remove the negative effect or buff the buffs it gives

We need more polarizing mythics like oakensoul. Mythics that offer drastically different ways to play the game. Love or hate oakensoul, you cannot deny how much of an impact that single item had on the game.

You’re supposed to reverse pickpocket this into someone’s inventory 😂. The 5 piece set bonus only is an interesting suggestion. If it boosted xp by 300%, 5 piece bonus only, plus resource return on kill, and extra damage taken, it may be fun as a questing set.

There is already a set from Cyro that has 'take 15% less damage while channeling'. So, at least for Templar and Arcanist, this type of flat damage reduction does exist. And you aren't forfeiting all your equipment bonuses to get it. And if you wore that set, plus Deadly, you're at +15% output and resistance, and you still have bonuses. Of course, that's just for classes that channel. Or maybe someone who just dumps lightning staff heavies back to back (does that even count?). My point is, if someone was craving this vibe, they could already sate it.

If they made it double the trait and enchantment value it might be interesting. Or if instead of negating the set entirely, they made it so a set required one more piece to activate. (6 pieces instead of 5 and 4 pieces instead of 3.)

Having it disable 5th piece bonuses but buff the other bonuses could make it useful in no proc pvp but that would also defeat the purpose of making no proc pvp in the first place

If this was a craftsble set it would make sense. Since then it would be good for a week one player. That has just begun farming for gear sets it wishes to wear.

Think about every development gate this idea has to pass through to get to the point that it's in PTS and ready to ship in the patch. Absolute failure by ZOS.

You need to build a different way for this Mythic. I used it on my status effect build for archive and everything hits even harder. Think about it for an Infinite Archive build and you will see what this is for. This is not for trials or dungeons.

I feel like they hit the nurf hammer a bit too hard here with this patch with the sets and some if the changes.

Engulfing flames and noxious breath should be basically identical to eachother at this point for respective damage types, give em both damage buff and breach, at least this way you can choose what morph instead of being hard pressed into one or the other depending on pve or pvp

If you read the lore description “that it is powerful, but brooks no competing magicks” it is basically doing what the lore states. It nullifies magic enchantments on gear, which is your set bonuses. I believe this is their response to those players who say overland content is easy and have to run around wearing no armor sets equipped to feel like the game is challenging

For harder overland content they should make set/mythic like this: dmg done - 30%, dmg received +30%, weap/spell dmg - 400. max life -40% = gold, xp gained +25%, 25% chance to fill up soul gem, 5% more chance for double nodes or something. add some other debuffs/buffs and balance it around overland. I would really use it while questing/gathering.

If they want this to be the answer to vet overland, they should make the buff on it a debuff

Would it bot be for leveling alts? To 50. Just slap on training trait gear and this. And use that same set up from lvl 1 till 50.

What I see with this mythic is the complete freedom to wear whatever armor weights you may need and not be restricted by a set that only comes in one type of weight (even tho if you incorporate a crafted set into your build it achieves the same thing)… if that’s what they’re going for then it’s only a matter of adjusting those 20% bonuses to wherever they need to be balanced. But yes it’s definitely a very weird first pass introduction for a mythic lol

This mythic is for eso fans who buy anything no matter what, the whole point of it is "there is no gameplay value just pay us money"

Well I feel much better now. I was scratching my head and trying to figure out a use for this mythic, too. If you can't figure it out, either, then that's one really messed-up mythic.

I honestly believe that this mythic was indeed made to make overland more difficult for the people asking for this but I still think that the base damage of your abilities/rotation will still melt everything except world bosses. Has anyone tried it in overland to tell if it actually makes it harder :D Not gonna lie, if it makes it noticebaly more difficult to kill mobs, I'll actually get it for immersion.

Add 20% experience gain and make it scale to your current level. That way, if you happen to find the leads randomly, you have something to put on a new character while leveling. I doubt, that many would go out of their way to collect it before making a new character, but if the leads are easy enough to find, it would be a good alternative to crafting leveling gear. Right now it is comically useless.

The closest thing I can see as an actual use for this mythic is for dueling tournaments. It reduces builds down to what the class skills do, instead of how well the armor sets can carry a class. That is such a rare niche use case for this mythic though...

i do see it being a huge boon fir group players. You know just farm this one set stay behind the tank in cyro and go for absolute burst. And if anyone comes at you, most sorcs would just streak all the way yo antarctica anyway so the increased damage debuff won't matter that much

I think this is testing for when the PvP changes come where they disable or restrict gear. Need to find the bugs on live before making the major PvP campaign changes.

Makes PvP tournaments a lot easier to organize mirror fights.

They brought this out as a prelude to the upcoming PVP content. You will not be able to wear 1,2,3, or 5 piece sets in the new pvp. It will be based only on skills alone

Maybe this will be apart of the PvP update, where they have a new zone wear you only where this mythic 😂

Large flat bonus to damage, damage resistance, and healing. Any newish player who sees the %% buffs will go "woah, this is crazyy!!". Just like many new ESO items, Torc of The Last Ayleid King is there solely to drive sales from new players! On that note, I have account with ESO for roughly 4-5 years, and only found this channel few months ago. Obviously, Nefas has been around much longer then that.. just shows that even algorithm structure focuses on which channel can drive the most sales first.. not which ones give the most accurate information. Beware. Might be required wear to make some in-game reward drop or massively increase odds of dropping. Maybe making gear sets irrelevant for duels? ( and then you addressed pvp)

Hear me out.. Infused/divines on everything. Berserker glyph on back bar for extra damage. All medium/light because we dont need heavy with a 20% damage reduction and then as many passives as you can possibly get with the highest damage modifiers. Maybe... just maybe this qould be usuable.... not good but usuable..

they should make it so u do more damage if you have armour or weapons equipped and take less damage

This item is designed specifically to trap players who don't understand the game and play exclusively in overland content.

My guess is that it would be beneficial for those without optimized builds.

Even just questing for some overland sets will make you more powerful than wearing this. I can see them maybe thinking this is a good substitute for a difficulty slider, but it's not. The character will play completely different to the one you've built with proper sets that synergize with class and role play.

not possible for low-level... even if you scry mythic at level 20, the mythic is cp160 (I tried twice) for PVP in no-proc/no-cp campaign maybe? The sets working in no-proc are not that strong... so extra 20% damage/mitigation/healing might be good for some classes?!? Really not sure

Does anyone else try to imagine the conversation in the meeting when all the devs are showing off their concepts of a new mythic? The lead dev tells them ,we only have room for one mythic and Chad throws out his 20% idea. Like how does this even work???

The only way I could see this thing working for the game is its a leveling neck piece. Scales off your level 1-45

If this didn't have a lvl50/CP160 requirement, it would make a fantastic alt levelling item, because until max lvl you don't care what you put on. But if that were true for mythics in general, Oakensoul would still be better for levelling, imo.

This is 100% getting reworked and buffed over the PTS cycle. There's absolutely zero reason to ever farm this, let alone use it in its current state

Replace the light attack penalty from velothi to ayleid king Then velothi will have item set turn off penalty and become useless

it's the poor man's mythic, you can wear this with the base equipment without any set bonuses. The junk that low level npc's drop lol. It doesn't even has a jewelry trait bonus lmao
