Apple recently released a shortcut called Remember This. Aimed at people who have short-term memory loss, the shortcut is designed to allow people to quickly build a visual log of what they’ve been getting up to throughout the day, all done with a couple of taps on your phone, or even just with your voice. I’ve been trying it out this past week, and while it’s simple, it’s very good, and I think it’s use can stretch beyond memory loss, I think it’s a great mindfulness tool as well. So in this short video, I’m going to show you how to get the shortcut setup and running, and then we’ll explore some options for how you might choose to use it.

This is really cool! I have been using quick notes for all the things I needed to remember through out the day. Then I process everything in the evening. This will make the process easier I think. I noticed this shortcut also creates a tag #remember, so I created a Smart Folder to store all my entries. 😊

Really appreciate this video. Returned to Apple ecosystem for the second time after 14 years, with the purchase of an iPhone 14 pro max in May this year, followed shortly by several other Apple products, and I had no idea what a Shortcut was and that a Remember function like this even existed. As a newcomer to your channel I’m shocked at the high quality of your tutorials. Apple should be paying you for your work. Thank you

So glad I stumbled on to this. I’d have never remembered to look something like this up. Going to use it often, since I have ADHD, OCD and short term memory loss. Great video. I also like that you just present the facts, no music in the background, no idiotic cutaways to dumb, meaningless stock footage clips that everyone else uses.

Thanks ! This looks really interesting. I often get to the end of the day and feel like I haven't acheived anything because I have forgotten what I've been doing. This shortuct may help me to make a note of what I've done before I've forgotten. Two other things I like: - The photos appear not to go in to the photos app so I can freely photograph what I've been working on. - I can dictate the wording of the note as well as type it if that is easier to do at the time. It is also a great way to dip my toe in the waters of the shortcuts app and make me think of other tools there that might be useful.

This is awesome! I’m hoping for updates to reminders in the future that have disruptive reminders and follow up reminders. One of my challenges with ADHD is remembering to eat because I hyper focus so strongly I auto-clear reminders when the notification goes off, and then almost immediately forget the reminder was there. Banners are easy ignore and since the consolidation of notifications I usually clear the reminders entirely from lock screen and notification page.

It's in fact a very good substitute of DayOne application as I understand. But it's free. One of the main advantage why I bought DayOne was the ability to add a journal entry very fast. Like Cmd+Shift+D, type some thought then Cmd+Enter. But now I could see advantages to came back to a built-in application like Note. :) Thanks!

I have been using this for a while but I would recommend making a folder in notes called remember this and then sort that folder by date created with most recent first. Then go into the shortcut and modify it to always save into this new folder you have created. Very useful in that I can find all my remember this notes very easily.

Never one to make life easy😂 The automation I created didn’t work well enough to be able to use it as a standalone action as I still had to accept it, so I’ve stopped using it for now. Thanks for the heads up on all this and keep up the good work👍
