In this video I use Photoshop Beta for the first time and talk about the new generative fill, which will change photography forever.
Generative Fill uses AI technology to recreate areas of a photograph and does it so well that you can't even tell that it has been used. This is huge news for photographers and I believe will have a huge impact on the whole photography industry.
Please let me know your thoughts on the new Photoshop Beta and generative fill tool in the comments!

Finally, I'll be able to deliver wedding images 2 weeks before their day happens
@HelenwilliamsphotographyCoUk
I don't even know what to think about all of this to be honest! It's truly mind blowing and no doubt the biggest change to our industry since the switch to digital from film. It has huge potential for all creatives and certainly changes the game!

I just tried this myself and I am amazed as well. I don't know what the future will be for photography because if you look at a photo, you will then ask yourself, is it a real photo or is it an AI generated one? That is the part I don't like.

I shouldn't comment as I watch as im just more stunned each time Neil haha. Removing that woman from the hug photo and then creating half a registrar from nothing. how on earth is this possible haha I need a lie down.

Flashback to a wedding in 2021 when I had to remove the two videographers from in between the B&G in most of the ceremony photos because they would not move…. This tool could’ve saved me HOURS!!!

Mind blown... it's a game changer for all creative industries and much bigger for photographers than the move from analogue to digital. People will still want authentic, real moments BUT the hero shots, the OCF portraits etc... you can create most on PS after the wedding has finished. Great video - thanks.

Everybody in here is cheering today. Tomorrow, everybody in here is out of a job, or into a version of his/her job that no longer contains almost ANY type of work/activity that you actually enjoyed with Photoshop.

I missed the stream but from that first image my mouth was on the floor. That is insane!

I have been using it to repair old ripped photos. I took a photo that I had tried to fix last year and spent four hours on reconstructing part of a face. The generative ai did it with one pass. I just used the lasso tool and selected the ripped area and done. I simple couldn't believe it.

It's a game changer, but it questions all we do as photographers. Downloading now to give it a try. Thanks again Neil!

I first dove into photography back in 1974 when I was 12 years old. My first camera was my father's Agfa rangefinder camera. I then graduated big-time when my father graciously bought me a brand new Nikon F2A in 1978. Everything about those film cameras was manual, including the exposure and the focus. I considered myself a "photographer" or "picture taker" back then. I then got into doing b/w darkroom work, which made me question whether I was still a "picture taker" or a "picture maker". But...Ansel Adams' photos incorporated a lot of darkroom work, so I didn't feel so bad when I thought that way. I then went digital and started using Photoshop in the '90s. Today, I'm doing even more amazing things with Photoshop and have considered myself a "picture maker" since I became fairly good at using Photoshop. But this Generative Fill just takes photography to a level beyond our wildest imaginations, as you so rightly pointed-out. And you're also right by saying we can never trust another picture we see from this point forward! I shudder to think about photos that will start cropping-up in the already heated political arena! Thanks for creating this video. It was quite eye-opening to say the least!

Thank you for all of the examples. It's true, this opens the gate to a new genre.

Wowza!! Great example video mate! The potential of this is insane, and like you rightly said, this is just the very beginning of this new journey...

Here is my plan....go back to pure black and white portraits with very minimal retouch and the other half of the work do the crazy ai thing,,,we need to redefine ourselves...iphones didnt totally cancel us out...this is one more crazy obstacle...good luck to my fellow photographers! Keep shooting no matter what!

you see me speechles, fascinated and... just speechless! First question which come sinto my mind: How will the competitions be able to control, which photo was heavily manipulated and which not? this is so crazy

For a mixed media project I made a series of images using my photography in AI model's Outpainting. Each image took me 3 days to create, with little sleep. It was a lot of fun, but still epic amounts of work. Not as much as making all the assets of images to create a composite, but still. To get the image to A3 I had to make it in selections and piece it together in PS.

Love your excitement on day 1. Would love to see another video after a few months on how much you might have used this feature by then.

It could affect people in commercial photography, but it will never replace the real photography, for example; wedding shoots, pet photography or anything of that nature. The reason being is because the biggest part of photography people are forgetting is to do with painting the character by capturing actual real moments. Sure, you could tell this technology to take the dog and give it this specific characteristic, but it's still fake. A real photograph is capturing something genuine, an actual moment that people can look back on and that cannot be replicated by A.I.

the fact even with just the ring on finger it had the light reflecting off the ring onto the other finger was incredible.
