Dont you think you should apologize to your first opponent for insinuate he was cheating? Use the reporting tool when you suspect. It may not seem like much to you, but it's really bad to have that kind of insinuation. Anyway, your teaching technique is excellent. I hope you continue with the excellent work. Congratulations on the content (except for the insinuations of cheating).

With all due respect, if you harbor suspicions, it's more appropriate to report them privately rather than calling out a player publicly. Isn't an apology in order? What if your suspicions are unfounded? He's a person, and such accusations can be hurtful. Remember, with great power comes great responsibility. Use your influence wisely.

Yea but then he said, he'd make a waiting move and pushed b7-b5... that's a poor waiting move for the reason above. "Weaker players usually tend to make bad moves when they should wait." Well, b5 is just that. It's ok to do this against a weaker player but against a stronger gm or engine such a move could be a losing mistake. It may be good, but the justification for this has very subtle or have tactical reasons. Sometimes you even have to push pawns in front lof the own king to create a bind on a square complex. So beside giving some general advice and being the far stronger player I gain little infos from this. Yea having watched the game it really did backfire... but I reqlly didnt like this part. B5 is no freaking waiting move.

I agree with model games rather than memorization. It is very helpful for beginners and intermediate players. I'm sure IMs and GMs just read a book and see the board in their head but for us mortals actually seeing it is very helpful.

HI Alex, I'm so happy I stumbled across one of your thumbnails. I was stuck around the 600 elo mark playing all sorts of openings without knowing too much about them. Since finding your RU-vid page I've adapted the Jobava and Caro kann and now find myself hovering around 1000 elo. The way that you offer your content and knowledge is fantastic! I have one request though if you would be so kind. Please do a Caro kann video where white plays the Breyer Variation. or please point me to a video where you've already covered this. I often find opponents playing E4, D3 then Bishop to F4 or Knight to F3. The Bishop moves always throws me. I'm always left confused whether I should take pawn on E4 or push G6. Stockfish advises G6 but I don't fully understand why.
@JumpNMustang

While it would be cool that he went over that, I might recommend not getting too much into dependence on the opening till at least 1800. I am 2100 and can play this at my level with the information in this video alone. I only look at these for the possibility of getting more familiar with the Jobava side, but he might talk me into trying the Caro again. 😅 But heck. I didn't even know there was a Breyer variation in this system. 😳 what are the moves for that?

Going all Hans Niemann on us with the psychological moves lol! I’m still struggling with white, but the Caro has made me a beast on black, I often win with an accuracy above 90%, leading to heaps of cheating accusations and I tell them to go look at my stats, because as I said, I am really struggling with white (although lately doing better with Vienna/scotch e4 games, even the odd Ponziani just for fun, and training with puzzles at least a half hour a day before I start playing my games. Anyways, long time listener, first time caller, so thanks man, this is my favourite opening. Have you covered how to handle the fantasy variation?

@macbookfatty281 6 месяцев назад
What? I don’t think that’s a legal move if Ng3 we can go h5 and have an easy attack going h4 and so on, you can analyse it for a deeper understanding if Nc3 we go Bf5 Nf3 e6 if h3 Bd6 and black is great if Bd3 Bd3 and they have to do Qxd3 because if they take with the pawn, you develop and you’re way better, after Qxd3 Nbd7 and you should know the common caro kann principles, and I like it for black If Nc3 Bf5 Nf3 e6 Bg5 Qb6 and you go for the knight, most likely they’ll do Bxf6 and you play the brilliant Qxb2 threatening to take the knight and know you’re up a pawn Now if Nc3 Bf5 Bc4, just go e6 and you’re good If Nc3 Bf5 Bd3, Bxd3 and now again they have to take with their queen, and it should be easy with e6 and developing queenside knight. There’s obviously more, but this is extremely simple and easy to understand

Hi Alex, like your content, it's very similar to Levy's early content as well (which I am guessing he also copied) but I prefer your sense of humor and voice. He's a bit too new yorker for me (no offense to levy, he just got that way of new york speak). On days when I watch you my rating climbs 100 points but when I skip a day it drops immediately because I'm super busy at work and with my family. Do you find that there's no shortcuts to internalizing and remembering some of these concepts easier? Do you have to put in those 30 minutes of studying a day? What tools do you use if you have let's say 15 minutes a day but you're still trying to have fun. I just run 1 minute bullet games because they are not so theory driven and I can win even against really nerd opponents. Thanks!

Is there a good alternative line where you don't take the pawn on e4? 37:30 It seems to be the only option. Also I recall you doing the variation where you take the knight swap with the g7 pawn and I thought it was really cool. I'd like to see it again, in fact I asked about it some time ago. EDIT: That tarkov position with the pawn structure of f6 and c6 always gets me stuck so I avoid it. I'd have to see my games to recall what aways happens.
