I remember one time standing alone in the church kitchen. The pastor was walking in and stopped in the doorway, looked left and right and asked me if I was alone. As soon as I said yes he spun around and left. I thought he was nuts but now I totally understand his behavior. This should be common practice.

It should be common practice that two people can't be alone together? I think that's backwards. I think the moral standing has to be higher than that.

@@OpenMawProductions Paul has a lot to say about being blameless, and I think that can definitely include turning away from a situation that could be misinterpreted or look compromising. I don't think the pastor in this comment's case would've been doing something bad by going into the kitchen, but there's wisdom in not even entering a situation where it might look bad. Especially if it's not crucial to be in that situation and avoiding it is so easy and harmless, I think it shows awareness and a desire to live above reproach. That said, if that lady was in need of medical help or something, and he didn't enter because he was a man and didn't want to be alone in the kitchen with her... that would be running into some legalistic issues for sure.

Biblically speaking pastor should have married that woman making her 2nd wife. 16 is not that young, she had relationship with pastor at least once. Society is okay for a woman to make decisions about murdering babies, to have sex as long a person she is doing it with is not "adult", and society is okay with changing their genders. But falling in love with a person who happens to be adult is a big no no. And you wonder why your pews are empty in your congregations. Lawlessness in the churches. If she was violantly violated then she should have screamed for help. That is Biblical. She knew what she was doing.

@@branver1172 Everything can be a temptation And Um.. Biblically yes women are a potential temptation, But so is drugs etc, So are Men To Women - Being the temptation does not mean the person who COMMITS the sin is not accountable IT IS THE SINNERS FAULT, not the woman for simply being a women.. What are you getting at?
@branver1172
@branver1172 2 года назад
@@jsbaldo5556 I agree we should be careful about one on one meetings. What I’m about to say may sound nitpicky, but I’ve seen the attitude of “other people are walking temptations” cause problems. Bear with me while I use an analogy to explain what I mean. If a homosexual man starts having lustful thoughts about you, that doesn’t mean *you* are objectively a walking temptation. It means that he subjectively has sin twisting his heart with disordered affections. His own desires are a temptation, not you. If a pedophile has lustful thoughts about a child, it doesn’t mean the child is objectively a walking temptations. The pedophile has sin twisting his heart and disordering his affections. His own twisted desires are tempting him, not the child. This sin in his heart is keeping him from truly loving the child as he should. If they say the other person is the temptation, they are projecting their own sinful desires on to others. The other person or the other person’s property is not “temptation”. The person’s evil desire is tempting them. And the main problem with that is their evil desire is keeping them from truly loving the other person as they should. If a pretty girl walks past, it is not the girl that is a temptation. It’s the evil desire in your heart that is tempting you. Don’t project your sin on to others. The Bible says we should see each other as brothers and sisters in Christ, not walking temptations. “But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire” -James 1:14 The problem with the above pastor wasn’t that he had a “16 year old walking temptation” in his office. The problem was he saw this girl as a piece of meat to be consumed. He didn’t see her as a fully human sister in Christ. When people see each other as walking temptations, they tend to avoid each other. Men are taught to “bounce their eyes” when a pretty sister walks past. Just don’t see them. Put them on the other side of the church in “women’s ministry” where they won’t be seen or heard. This is not dealing with the root problem. It is enforcing it. Dehumanization.

Yes. My pastor is older than my father and will not even continue talking with me in his office if the last person in the administrative areas is on their way out. I respect that so much. There's literally a negative percent possibility of anything untoward happening, but he is being accountable. It doesn't have to do with just temptation, it can simply be about the way something looks to others. If we are preparing ourselves to be a witness, we have to expect false witness against us, but shouldn't ever let ourselves be careless to give potential ammunition over. Both Titus 1 and 1 Timothy 3 talk about overseers being to be "above reproach". Being above reproach is a high bar, but it's a qualification standard for a plethora of reasons.

Adam, stop defending pedophiles. That's what this "pastor" is. "You shall not afflict any widow or orphan. If you afflict him at all, and if he does cry out to Me, I will surely hear his cry; and My anger will be kindled, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless." Exodus 22:22-24 Matthew 18:6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. And your statement that he has not been proven guilty is also a lie. This "pastor" ADMITTED to adultery in front of the congregation! He doesn't need to be PROVEN guilty. You are wrong and you don't understand the scripture. Nobody is saying that this man is not a Christian and that he can't be restored to fellowship with God if in fact he IS a Christian. What people are saying is that he has forfeited his ability to pastor a church because of his infidelity WHILE BEING THE PASTOR! After you read 1 Cor. 5:11-13 this should make sense. We had this occur in our last church 27 years ago. The allegations we're that the "pastor" was getting too close to a 17 year old girl. I knew it had to be much more than that because his wife left him to supposedly stay with their oldest daughter as the wife was ill. The pastor & board decided to have him step down from preaching for a couple of months while getting counseling. He came to our home and looked us right in the eye to apologize to us directly & promised it was not sexual, just an emotional need. I'm naive, but even I could tell he was lying. Couple weeks later, both the pastor & the girl disappeared. Divorce happened & they got married. Last I heard they had twins. I pretty much left that church immediately because they didn't take it serious enough. The congregession wanted him back after only a couple of therapy appointments and then he could preach & lead the church again. My husband tried to still be there, as it was his only church. My husband is still so mad & hurt that he doesn't want to go to any church anymore. But I keep looking for a new church, but finding a true Biblically solid preaching is getting harder & harder to find. And I won't attend a church that sings Bethel and Hillsong as that promotes & financially those awful people. BTW... since that has occurred, they have had 2 youth leaders arrested for pedophile. My husband is huge collateral damage. I'm only small collateral damage because I was already damaged from another church. So I told that pastor straight out that I don't trust preachers. He passed my comment off as no big deal. It's been very difficult to keep plodding alone. Sinners don't think about anyone but themselves and not the far reaching damage that happens.

I would strongly encourage you to seek out a church which 1) adheres seriously to a historic Reformed confession (1689, Westminster, Savoy) and/or corresponding catechism and 2) seriously and Biblically practices church discipline. These are two of the best tools to keep out heresy, unqualified leadership, and ambivalence in the congregation toward sin. Integrated family worship is also a plus. Youth groups, children's church, and affinity groups are not needed - and their absence promotes greater unity and more ubiquitous accountability. Jesus Christ will have His vengeance on such negligent and debauched fools, but in the meantime He has given us means by which we do not have to watch our backs all the time. Churches ignore these to their peril. He encourages us to hand such liars, perverts and reprobates over to Satan, disowning them from the church body and warning other churches about them. *Christ's Bride deserves only the best of what He has to offer her; He purchased it for her.*

I am a retired pastor in the Church of the Nazarene. I am so saddened to come across this revelation. @Prey R We are a non drinking church and so drinking, let alone drunkenness would call for the suspension of ones credentials. So also, other immoral actions such as embezzlement . But restoration is possible. But there are many ordained elders in unassigned status. It might be hard to have a church willing to receive such a one as their pastor. So, even with the hope of restoration, it may be virtually impossible to find a church to accept such a one as their pastor. But for adultery, there is no reinstatement. It may cause some to wonder if we are not prioritizing sins. Maybe we are. But those with a lot more wisdom than I, have determined these things.

Our local churches have to do a better job with having prevention. As a mom of three who've had friends who survived abuse in church...one friend as young as 5 years old when the abuse started...it absolutely breaks my heart. Predators know that the churches are easy targets. Also, don't be naive, all kinds of things occur unknowingly or not in youth groups. Parents don't feel pressured to let your kids go to the "children's ministry" knowing that you don't know the staff from Adam and there are no real safety measures in place....my kids are right there with us during the church service. Let's all pray for real change to occur and more truth to come to light. Let's pray for these victims to be set free.

@maxspringer01

@bksnow125 - absolutely, abuse destroys the mind and heart of the victim. You are not the same person after abuse as you were before.....literally the brain undergoes physical changes due to trauma. I am so sorry that someone violated you and took what wasn't theirs. Have you been able to get any treatment of any kind - therapy, EMDR to process the trauma, neurofeedback, somatic experiencing, yoga (yes, this is actually shown to help), or support and understanding from anyone? Btw, don't pay any attention to what this guy "Adam" responded to you. This nonsense about "you letting it consume you" is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in my life. If he was truly "speaking from experience" like he claims, he would NEVER say something like that. Abuse is called abuse because it is too traumatic for what a human is made to handle. Your continued suffering has nothing to do with the level of trust you have or don't have in the Lord. The Lord is there to comfort and heal, I agree, but it is naive and short-sighted to think that other things aren't necessary for healing. I will also say this - you are under ZERO obligation to "forgive the one who assaulted you" if the perpetrator has not shown godly sorrow, genuine contrition, and repented for his actions and the harm and damage he caused. The Bible NEVER says we are to forgive those who are unrepentant, and don't let anyone, including this guy Adam, tell you otherwise. The Bible says "in the last days, men will be abusers/abusive" and then it says "have nothing to do with such people" or "from these [people] turn away". We are not to put ourselves in harms way when it comes to abuse. May God bring you healing and peace from what you have been suffering from for so long.

Then these women wonder why their marriage gets hard, he gets distant and tempted because he is doing something he was never meant to and he made a poor choice but the wife leading the husband to something not for him started the whole thing. Being the pastor/preacher/teacher isn’t this magical, special position. It is one of the HARDEST servant leader positions in the church. Just like being a missionary- which no one EVER SEEMS to want to step up and do…. You wore pants that were too tight. You smiled at him. You looked at him instead of keeping your eyes averted. You did something to turn him on, it's all your fault! It is really painful seeing so many pastors falling in horrible sins. Worst yet is to see the cover-up. I cried a lot when Bob Coy was discovered in his sins but was grateful that Calvary Chapel has revealed all to the congregation, what, of course, became public very quickly.

Abuse survivor 🦋🦋 Will no longer step foot inside church building from the trauma. Churches will go to great lengths to cover things up

What a creep and waste of breath. I feel ashamed that we are of the same faith. I know that it's human to be weak. But, this hurts to hear. I met a guy today, who was assaulted when he was young. He was so angry, he enjoyed killing people, as an expert sniper I am beyond devastated what people do to each other

Your ashamed to share the same faith? You have no idea what Gods grace is about. The lord sees you the same way you see him

@@TheRealAdam1012 Yes. I know. But, his pretend faith, doesn't work, very well, for him. I dont know why he kept going all of these years. Was he being paid well ? Was that it ? To think, that she might have been in the audience, while he was teaching, for all of these years. He was looking forward to seeing her afterwards. He probably thought it was God's reward, to him, for his faithful teachings, every week. Beyond disheartening.

@@georgetacarmen8824 If all that is true, then yes🙌 That’s a pretty hefty accusation though. We know from even her testimony this all happened years ago.. NOT saying time makes it okay. As I would say to the victims of Paul. But god could be working in him to bring the lord more glory🤷‍♂️ To put this man beneath us though, would be a sin regardless. We all fall short. We all need Jesus and his grace every single day

This whole thing is sick to watch. Sad, that the whole congregation had to go this drama. Perhaps a warning to all of us to repent and turn away from wicked works.

I hope that people that have been abused by church leaders expose their evil deeds with boldness and truth but their heart is tender towards God and trust in the Savior by bringing their heavy burdens and hurt towards Him who gave his life for the sheep. I hope their trust in God grows in all circumstances and never allow any root of bitterness spring up and trouble their heart and mind. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭
