YES someone else has this pedal too!!!! It occupies a weird spot: no matter how much to try to hear from demos (yours was so great btw), the real reason why this pedal is SO legendary is the feel. I use this on bass & I go amp less, & the responsiveness of this pedal is completely unmatched. I had a hard time justifying buying this as my main overdrive, but then I thought of it this way, “this pedal recreated ALL of the electronics in the amp to the most accurate measure it possibly can, so I’m almost exactly playing through two different, switchable amps as my overdrive source, at two different gain levels, while also being able to blend characteristics from different amp types in a size that doesn’t require me to lug around two independent amps” That helped a lot with my purchase, as I also plan to NEVER get rid of this thing… it’s an absolute technical marvel of electrical engineering & I wonder if we’ll ever see something like it come around!
I agree it's kind of pricey compared to other pedals. I think the real comparison would to how it's very _inexpensive_ in relation to a 69' Super Lead or Blackface Super Reverb :P
Man, you are a killer player! I'm also normally more of an amp gain guy. May I ask, I really like the Super Lead sounds on the Silicon side you're getting, have you tried the RevivalDrive Compact and can it get that Super Lead like sound?
You can never have too many pedals, right? Really enjoyed the demo and loved the blend option demo! You have another subscriber! Yes and I like the SRV stuff! 😁
I have the full Helix(which has the same models) and this is quite a bit more authentic to the real amps _but_ you don't get any of the effects and all the different amps and such. So I would say equally good purchases, it's about what's more important to you. I'm inclined to say get an HX stomp if you don't have a preexisting collection of great effects pedals :P
Interesting how different reactions different people can have to the same piece of gear. I hate Rat pedals with a passion but I know they're widely loved.
It just comes down to play style. People that really dig into the strings might like TS but a more finesse style might not get good tone from it. Then of course the subjectivity of tone, especially in the context of the style of music being played.
Sounds great. It’s pricey, but I would still consider it except that I don’t have any tube amps to run it into. I’m one of those Godless heathens who runs a helix into a PA system. (Gasp). So I’d be dropping over a grand to be able to use this the way that you are, even if I grab the pedal used…
I'm not suggesting that you buy one, because a Helix covers a lot of ground- but to clarify: You can use this pedal as a preamp with a simple speaker simulator direct to front of house, or integrated with the Helix very easily too- _if you wanted to_
On my board since 4 years and will stay for many more... Just wish Origin FX would continue to innovate like they did on this pedal instead of making their takes on classic circuitries... Not that I don't like them nevertheless players need more Revival Drives than tube screamers or klon clones... Killer pedal both into an edge of breakup amp or to a power amp and then PA through an IR loader (Two Notes Cab M+ in my case). Great demo too!
It's outstanding versatile in terms of working with different rigs. I will probably use it for bass recording as well because the clean blend gives you so many great options.
How would you rate this against amp1 mercury edition as far as nailing the Fender and plexi tones? Also have you tried 1remote for amp1? It gives it that cranked-up variac tone!
