North Stradbroke Island (Straddie, Minjerribah) harbours the probably the best dive locations near Brisbane. The most popular dive spots at Straddie include Shag Rock, Flat Rock and a famous Manta Bommie. While Manta Bommie is known for frequent manta ray actions, it has the most challenging diving conditions in the area with frequent strong currents and not always perfect visibility. On the contrary, Flat Rock often has clear water and is generally calmer. There are two dive sites at Flat Rock. The Nursery dive site is located at the northeast side of the rock and you can watch the footage from it here • Scuba Diving at Flat R... , while Turtle Cave, which is at the southwest side, is the subject to this video. This site, which is a protected marine reserve, looks like a real underwater paradise or a natural aquarium full of colourful tropical fish and beautiful soft corals. The fish species found at this dive site include anemone fish (Hello Nemo!), butterfly fish, rainbow wrasse, butterfly fish, surgeon fish, sergeants and damsels and others. Large marine animals like green turtles and wobbegong sharks can also be frequently seen here. All this together makes this site a perfect spot for a relaxed and very enjoyable dive.
