Great review as always but the only thing that puts me off having one of these is having to pay £149 for a new lamp every 1.7 years plus the fan noise.
how did you math it? how much hours a day u need to watch it, to destroy lamp for 1,7 years. u will not watch it in "normal" mode 100%. and u have 8-10k hours on "eco" and "smart eco mode". and i ask u 1 more time, how much hours a day u will watch it, to destroy lamp for 1,7 year, having this light source life? 😂
We've watched ours every day for 2 years and its still got half its life left. We don't even have a TV so it's on a lot. Fan noise can be an issue though, so you either need a UST so its a few meters infront of you, or a big enough room so it can be say 3m+ behind.

My current setup is onto a 120inch motorised screen but if I had the wall space I would love me one of the ultra short throw 4k projectors. 150inch image centimeters from the wall. I think Xiamoi do a good one. It will cost you though.
I have my projector setup in my livingroom along with my main TV and tbh I use it quite a lot for movies and gaming. To me a grand for a 4K projector is something I would pay. The prices are a lot better these days. I remember paying that for a discounted wide-screen CRT tv years back lol.
most people who would be buying this would be connecting it to a surround sound amp or home cinema sound system in a dedicated room so sound wouldnt be an issue as at that price point it wouldnt be the sorta thing youd pull out once or twice a year. wicked review my budget would be about 250 max
One thing I'd like to know on the keystone correction - does it just cut pixels out - so less resolution - or is it a proper optical keystone correction. My budget for a projector would be around the 2k mark. I'm not too interested in sound as I have external speakers.
As far as i know, all keystone uses digital pixel manipulation. As in, you will lose defition of the image, and increase input lag, so definitly try to align it as best as possible without using keystone.
Cheers pal, looks decent apart from the sound, I have a top end optoma outstanding picture quality and sound is good but I have connected it to a Bluetooth sound bar, amd using a 100" power screen, last year we stuck it outside and it goes upto 300" and 30ft range, have it connected up to a firecube runs well smooth so if ibwas going to pay over a grand ibwould always go for a optoma, projector and remote has bright back-light.
I bought a vankyo L430W projector a few months ago £85 I think it cost , more than happy with it although same as the one you've reviewed the speaker is bit dog bob but good enough for the few times it'll get used
Great content, could you please advise if this could be used for 135 inch screen in a dark room without hampering the image quality, or 120 inch screen is better. Room dimesion is 17.75*12.5 feet
If used regularly, chance is you will have to replace a projector bulb in some regular intervals. Those bulbs are above $300 a piece. I would say that for the price (over $1000) one can get a fantastic LCD and use it for 2 decades without a problem.
Technology changes so fast I'd say buying one spare bulb so you get years of use out of a huge 120" projector screen is enough for most people. Even if you got an LCD I bet you'd be upgrading it in 6 years time anyway when new tech comes out?
I have an Epson and agree that is a world of difference between a decent branded ( and costlier ) projector and the cheap Chinese versions that promise your very own Odeon ( they are lying of course - I've had 2 - what an idiot ). I think you'll find all, even the most expensive have poor sound, the speaker is only a monitor really, I take an external audio feed via an HDMI audio splitter and run it through a surround sound set up. You can't really have a family movie night with a fantastic picture and tinny sound from the back of the room. One of the reasons why the picture is so good is because mine and your BenQ have a mercury gas lamp, the cheap projectors have an LED light source which is why you have the cooling vents and a fan - they run a bit warm ! I love my Optoma HD143X as well. I havent had it long enough to do a lamp change because I don't use it daily plus my 1st projector shorted out during an electrical storm. I am glad I finally took the plunge and bought one after years of pondering. I never go to Cinema now because I have my own.
@@leemarson7350 yeah i use mine everyday, it's a short throw. Quiet and upto 300 inch. Good in daylight for tv watching and excellent for cinema time. 👍
I had a BenQ. Picture quality was great better then some in the same price range. Until the bulb popped in side and damaged the flywheel and warranty wouldn't cover it. Even when it was not my fault. I was reading bulbs pop at the end if it's life. Bulb also is about $100+ US each. Fixing costed just about the same on buying a new one projector. So I got a new one of a different brand.
I have the optoma hd141x 3d it's only 1080p but looks fantastic when it's on the projector only cost me £400 it's also gud watching blu ray films not much difference in watching 4k to be honest on my 4k lg nanocell tv
I wouldn't buy a DLP projector as you get the Rainbow Effect. Much prefer Epson LCD Laser Projectors as no need for bulb replacement Fan noise is a factor too best get one that is 20db When displaying 4K Fan noise gets louder as projectors light is put into highest output for HDR
Sadly for me in a room about 3.2m deep, it's UST or nothing so a lot of money. I don't want a projector buzzing away right next to me. I have a pretty uncommon Benq W1600UST which is brilliant for movies and gaming unless you need top quality dedicated room quality.

Yeah it’s the best quality I’ve seen. But if it would only be used a few times then way over budget. I’ll be having a cinema room so will have the right environment.

Y'know when you watch Top Gear and they're driving expensive sports cars that you're never gonna own? This is a bit like that. A different sort of top gear here, but it does look like some top gear alright!
Biggest down for me is it uses a lamp. With 4,000 hours in normal use, up to 10,000 on eco, I think my money would be spent on either an LED or laser where the lamp life can be measured in years not hours.
@@stovic1442 Mathematics disagrees, as does my own personal experience. Unless you're minimising daily use. I wouldn't touch a projector with a 4000 hour bulb in 2021 with other alternatives available.

Benq W1600UST. Bought Aug 2019. Used 2663 hours. Smart Eco mode estimated 6000 hours life. I'll let people do their own maths but the way I add up I've used about 3 hours a day and still have conservatively around half the life of the lamp left. I have a new lamp waiting which cost around £120. I've been enjoying a 120" screen and the projector cost £1000. Works for me.
I know what you're thinking, "How's the sound going to get round my beard?!" But I saw it's got technology that maps the area around you to give you the best sound...but i heard you might need to get a Sony Bravia TV for it to be at it's maximum?!??!
This projector shocked me! That would explain the hair sticking up.. sorry..😆 Thanks for this bit pricey if you are only not going to use all the time, but for those that may use on a daily basis it be ideal. Joke: "Where do you learn to make a banana split?" "Sundae school."
After a year i cant tijd a proper 100 inch tv below 1000 ... and people who have this kind of projector , has also a proper tv .. they will use it only for films or gaming
