Great review I bought the chroma based off your review almost a rear ago. Love it. The only gripe I have is the Gosting and lack of detail in low light scenes. They claim they fixed the ghosting issue but it’s not the case. The ghosting is only fixed in game mode. In all others modes it’s still pretty bad. I really hope they fix this issue as it’s the only thing holding it back. Until they fix it I’d say go for the Formovie Theater UST projector. It’s cheaper handles Dolby vision and 120 FPS with 2800 ANSI Lumens .
I can't wait for more people to review the ForMovie UST that just came out recently. It has such a low pricepoint and beats out the more expensive competitors in most of the categories....hopefully you get one to review @Build Montage
However, a tri-laser projector has some cons too: Tri-laser projectors are more expensive than single-laser projectors. Tri-laser projectors are more complex to set up than single-laser projectors. This is because they have three lasers instead of one.
great vid as usual,24fps & Dolby Vision are a must i think, still twisted whether to hit this or the LG C1 83" my room will be a blacked out dedicated one so its all down to Vava & their next significant updates..
I think it's a good option. Personally its my daily driver, and works really well. For single laser I'd pick the BENQ V7050i but for tri-laser, I prefer the Chroma over the Samsung - the black levels I feel are much better.
I love my VAVA CHROMA having it for over 6 months now & GOT F*n BEST of the year Promotion deal with FREE 120" screen under 3 grand in U.S ..GREAT Projector lovin it👌👍..ONLY thing wish was showing how u set up the screen & Chroma from the get-go to adjust & fit in screen close to perfect , then start ..no videos really showing that
Terrific review. Love the details. I needed someone to ramp me up on this new tech. I am wondering about the ongoing Kickstarter UST projector from Phillips. It's single laser, and I'm not a big fan of extra noise. I have a dedicated theater room, so I don't need an expensive screen I don't think :) What do you think?
@@BuildMontage Awesome. I found out its a single laser. not a show stopper, but I'll have to see some reviews before I make the jump onto the Phillips. Thanks!
Nobody ever mentions how projectors are reflected light, vs the direct light of a TV. It’s like shining a flashlight on the wall vs directly in your face. It’s so much more comfortable on the eyes to use a projector, probably safer too.
Tony, have you actually found an ultra short throw that has good contrast and black levels, or are they still very poor? Still the better reason to buy a bulb based ceiling mount instead...
Yes, this one is pretty decent as is the Benq v7050i. What I will say is more dependant on black levels is the screen. I have a .6 gain CLR screen and it helps immensely with the black levels not being washed out. It’s not perfect but for a casual space it’s great.
Three lasers have the ability provide wider coverage of the DCI-P3 color space without using a filter . Removing the filter should allow for increased lumens and better HDR performance .
Yes this is true, the colour filter does improve the colours at the sacrifice of brightness. The Chroma is bright- and most USTs are so close to the screen it doesn't impact too much as they light doesnt have very far to travel.
@@BuildMontage you barely talk about it. A lot of people got ripped off by buying this projector. And vava isn’t really doing anything to fix the problems.
There wasnt much I could say about it other than it appears to be fixed now. You can see in my movie demos that the ghosting and blur around the screen is completely gone (except for my keystone demos) - I only share my personal views and opinions here. Vava don't get to see the video I made prior - and if you watched it, you will see I did have some criticisms around calibration controls etc so I give my unbiased opinions. It's like any product ever made. Some people love them, some people hate them. I will say that I wasn't even noticing the ghosting too much until someone pointed it out to me - I wear glasses for a reason :)
hi MANTAGE :) THANK u for this video ,i always wonder how much difference from single to trible laser in Australia we do not have so many models, lg finally started selling 2nd gen UST hisense only sell l5 n l9 bundle with screen, px pro 1 wouldve been nice to compare, but price is double from single laser to Triple one, last year samsung had single laser from au $6k down to 3000 ( 2k $us) n triple 11000 au to 6k, i compared the 2 samsungs through research on net n youtube but at time mostly was about samsung high end model, there is no way u can justify paying double price i love my samsung sinle laser n in 4k i cant believe how sharp clear n more vibrant then my LED lg 4k tv even so, the spects rate triple have greater color range i cant c how much more sharper or color u need maybe contrast might be bit better but 3000 better n also im only projecting on off white wall around 100" i can put rest of money on soundbar n screen, ive owned projectors over 20 yrs, UST is game changer ill never buy normal tv again.
Hi , I based in Adelaide, what Samsung model you have? Am looking for Lg 715 single laser or latest 915 QE , but more than double the price. Can’t able to decide.some RU-vidr says you get rainbow effect in single laser,is that true? You advise is much appreciated Thanks
@@perumalraja6765 hi raja I have Samsung lp7 single laser I got for half price 3 grand n it’s on sale again it’s best bang for buck projector, n dont let claimed 2200 ansi lumens full u it’s brighter then optoma that claims 3000, when u set it best contrast it can achieve better brightness then optoma, I’ve been around projectors for decades these claims by many brands brightness n contrast it’s bullshit Sony n Epson n jvc are the only brand I trust in there claims, even Samsung sure 9 triple laser brighter but not by much in real world don’t look at Color spectrum in real world means nothing most movies n near future want come close to that rang, it’s like buying 8k tv, u can’t see difference maybe in future but how much clarity u need my projector 4k movies are so clear n sharp it’s takes way cinematic feeling only in sports , docos like nature shows u really enjoy raw power of these projector, I can’t believe picture I get when I demo 4 or 8k demo on RU-vid my family blown away n that on just white wall with with fine dimples not totally flat wall, I can’t imagine how much better would be on alr screen
When you're obviously selling a product it automatically decreases the credibility of all the other info you provide in your video... You come back to VAVA Chroma after every few sentences so I don't even know if the other information you gave are true or if you're just trying to sell the projector...
You’re wrong but there’s no point me trying to convince you when you seem so sure. I don’t do paid reviews. Not sure how to do a product review without reviewing the product.
I have a rookie question: if my pc is 60hz of frame rate and I connect it to this projector, if the game supports 120 hz it will project on 120hz? Or 60hz that is the max my pc can handle?
Most UST are great. The Casiris A6 is VERY bright but daylight kills any projector - you need a good conditions in your room and an ALR screen to get the best results.
Don’t forget the EWaste argument I would also love for you to do a “bit” on what USTs are like for power consumption over TVs and Traditional Projectors
The settings won't matter for you unfortunately - every unit is different but also it's very room dependant. My room, and screen, will impact the way it's calibrated. Even if you tried them it wouldn't work. You need a sensor that can read the light output from your screen. Hope that helps.
Hi Tony looking at getting a colour checker want to make sure I can do via the hardware can your one do that as well haven’t seen anyone do a project colour calibration yet? You should do one
I haven’t done one because I’m not a pro. My way is just the way I’ve learned and I get pretty good results but there are much better vids out there than I could make. Maybe one day though if I get good enough at it :)
Hi mate, Is that quoted price in AUD with AU plug? I currently have the samsung p7 UST and it is fine for good quality streams and movies but absolutely shit house for normal tv
No that's USD. I think the AUD price is considerably more once converted. I use the Chroma for my normal TV, however you need to play with the profiles as the colour profiles I have mapped for HDR look a little weird for normal TV.. You can swicth between the presets though. Check the link - it should convert to Aussie dollars for you.
@@BuildMontage yeah cheers Im not keen to spend 6 grand on a foreign machine with 1 yr warranty although I do like it. I will just wait till the Premier P9 price comes down, at least then if there is warranty issues I can have it sorted without sending it back.
I don’t usually respond to these types of comments, but no it’s not a paid review no don’t do those on my channel. In what way does it smell of a paid review? It’s a review of a product with positive and negative comments… do I have to trash it for it to not be considered paid?
@@BuildMontage I think they are all very similar. They use the same chip and triple laser system. They have different OS and speaker and presets & max output, but all are very similar.
Thank you, side question I now have to adjust my VAVA with keystone, 4 ticks left/right in and 5 ticks up. I know I should be able to answer myself by viewing, but do you think this amount of correction is negligible?
It is fine to keystone if you can't get it squared up. Minimal is ideal. As soon as you keystone you do affect the clarity even if its just one increment.
I personally think this keystoning thing saying it effects the image to a noticeable degree is garbage I keystone my LSP9T and there is no difference the picture is amazing with zero distortion or loss of quality.
@@silkskinz it does make a huge difference. It squashes pixels into other pixels and you also end up with a halo. Small adjustments are fine though but once you make big corrections it’s noticeable. It’s like taking a 1:1 image on a TV and then zooming or moving the image around inside that screen. The light still hits the pixels on the edge.
@@BuildMontage Granted that maybe true but this garbage about not using it at all for any reason is crap if you saw my image you would not be able to tell the difference.
