I've only reached the blow- dry portion and her hair already looks amazing. The smoothness/volume/ shine from even just the blow dry is gorgeous. And of course her natural texture and volume is stunning too. Very cool that she wears it both ways!

Me too! I use to catch hell at school if I straightened my waist length hair. They'd literally want to fight me, it was as if they were insulted that a chocolate brown skin girl like myself would have the audacity to have long healthy hair. It got to the point where I didn't want my hair to be straightened for fear of confrontation.

I've been getting my hair straightened for many years. What is an appropriate temperature to flat iron hair? I always sweat around my forehead when my stylist straightens towards the front of my head. She says her other clients don't sweat at all. I see some FBA here acting like this is something new. It's been around for years; created by FBA. I used to get a silk press on natural hair about 30 years ago here in the states and it was a common process that many women were having done (with and without relaxers). Your hair type will dictate the longevity of the straightening and if you have high porosity hair like I do it will revert in a dew drop and the slightest amount of sweat will send your edges, kitchen and roots back to their roots. I find that Kera products are the best for my hair still the naps keep napping. There was another style that women wore the same time modern day relaxer/perms were invented for black hair where the hair was curled while being blow dried with a round brush creating soft slightly sculpted "curls" and lots of body. Short or medium layered or feathered hair looked best with this style, but my hair acted otherwise.

I have high porosity hair too. Try Kera Kare (or Care). Make sure to use the serum especially if you will be straightening your hair.

Of course, often damage is done to the client by whasing with gloves . it has happened to me that my hair has been washed whit gloves at the hairdresser and of course it caused damaged to my head , tangles and pulls on my head whasing with gloves does a lot of damage to clients.
