PSA: this device is good for some very limited PS2/GC and even Dreamcast is a bit hit or miss. The god of war footage was choppy and it gets worse further along the game. GC/Wii some light games will run ok others are basically unplayable. I mean, even that jetskying game was choppy as hell and that is not a particularly demanding game. If you are looking for gamecube/PS2 games you are looking at a steam deck or an Odyn Pro. Quite a bit more money. The Deck is flawless for emulation. Looking forward to the ROG Ally. That one will be cool if decently priced.

odyn pro is also far more expensive. Might as well buy a steamdeck at that point.

Just get a last year flagship phone or midrange. A kirin 980 chip from 2019(Huawei nova 5t or P30 Pro) on performance mode outperformed the SD 845 on odin pro and T618 on these retro handheld. It handled more gamecube and ps2 games. And the odin pro is supposedly on the upper echelon of retro handhelds. The redmagic 6 series with snapdragon 888, Redmagic 7 with 8 gen 1 and previous samsung flagship also outperformed these devices. Just get a gamesir x3 pro, backbone or kishi and you're good to go.

@@adrian_veidt sure. If you want a phone. If you want a dedicated handheld then that is not really an option. And for the price of a redmagic 7 you can get a Deck that will outperform it. So buying one just for emulation is a bit meh imho.

This is the same hardware/software as the RG505 without the PSVITA screen. The Vita screen has its own set of problems, but I prefer it to the 640x480 LCD of this unit. I kind of like the extra couple inches of width on the RG505, too.

Dude assuming Anbernic stays in business for the next 3 years, the RG600 series, assuming the capability increase remains reasonably linear, is going to be the perfect retro gaming device. Because by then, it'll handle everything this can perfectly, will tackle PS2, Dreamcast, Saturn without a problem. That's when I pick one of these up and use until these little emulators can run PS4 at a solid 30fps, which one would think is at least 10 years away.

Yeah handheld gaming is going in an amazing direction. In the future to have perfect ps2, GameCube, Wii, and then eventually ps3 and ps4 emulation. Oh man, I would say yeah about 10 or more years

The likeliness of an ARM device emulating PS4 EVER, is practically zero. The PS4 uses an X86 64bit CPU. It's just not really feasible to emulate something that complex on a low power ARM chip.

I just got myself an Ambernic RG353V and although wont play Wii or PS2 games. I love how it handles all the classics up to PS1, DreamCast.

Also PS1, GameCube, NeoGeo, Super NES, Sega Genesis, NES, SMS, Game Gear, Game Boy, GBC, GBA, N64, PSP, MAME, and Dreamcast too. Those 15 platforms are the bread and butters of this handheld, Wii and PS2 are just the cherry on the top.

It's not an option for everyone due to cost but the Steam Deck is really the ultimate Emulation hardware. Although I can see where hardware that's preloaded has its place.

Regarding the PS2 emulation, can it run JRPG games (eg: Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria, Tales of the Abyss, Final Fantasy X etc)? When my PS2 died I started using the pcsx2 on PC and sometimes there are technical issues.

That would be dependent on the particular emulator you're running. The device is using the already available emulation software and giving them a unified launcher.

It runs them both without any issue. You start experiencing issues when u get into ps2 as the emulator for that struggles on the chipset

@@nolo1337 I think its more about having a separate unit that's made just for gaming. More about the nostalgia of having a handheld again. Phones are way better for emulating but there's something special about having a small pocketable device that I can play all my childhood games on.

@@nolo1337 dude for just 150 bucks you get a android device and great quality controllers with it. And it can play up to PS2 and gamecube. Of course you have to do some settings and not all the games will play well but ı still think it is well worth it. And yes ı have a snapdragon 710 android phone but ı want to use my android phone as a phone for social Media and google. And the retroid pocket 3 plus for gaming...

I wouldn't mind seeing another video where you try out more games. I find the hardest to run PSP game is Tomb Raider Anniversary. You tried this out for me on another device. I would think it would be ok on this. Just wish the new devices coming out would run Batocera. I love Emulationstation, even more than BigBox which I stopped using in favor of Batocera. Setting up Android is just too much work.

I don't relay care about X-BOX, X-BOX 360 Gamecube, Wii, WII U PS3 and PS2 emulation but the fact it can is good news. Since Apple's IOS has issues with emulation an Android handheld emulation system is good since it can also like the Apple TV, Disney +, Hulu and Discovery + apps. Since they have an way to download the videos to your device wean your home you can view them in your hotel with no issue. Like before I leave on an trip. I may download an few movies form Hulu, some Nat Geo shows form Disney +, Some Dirty Jobs form Discovery + and Greyhound form Apple TV.

Can't you just take it apart and trim off the button extension? Take a small Dremel wheel and chop, chop? You shouldn't have to, it's not really engineered properly?
