This river crossing is like BLIND ENDURO |S6 - E6|

In this episode I am trying to ride from Mindo Valley in Ecuador to Quilotoa. I am taking some obscure backroads and I get obstacle after obstacle thrown my way! The first one is a wide river crossing with big, slippery rocks. Because of the water, I can't pick my line, so this is like riding enduro, but then blind! I have no other choice but to walk my bike through the river, as I'm not willing to take the risk of drowning my bike! It turned out this was only the first obstacle of the day and so much happened that It didn't even all fit in one episode!

When Noraly gives a little laugh and giggle, it's because the going is getting tough; river crossing, deep mud, rocky surface uphill etc. Kudo's to her, a lot of biker's wouldn't attempt it. Respect. Best wishes from the U.K.

Having only maybe 1/10,000th of riding experience as Noraly, I can still appreciate the effort and fortitude to do what she has chosen to do. Just watching the river crossing, the anxiety I could feel knowing what is involved - getting off the bike without tipping it, then walk/driving/pushing it across, still trying not to dump it. Then the relief of having made it across, alone. It helps being a rider to have a glimpse of empathy to the efforts in her travels, but Noraly has managed to capture the experiences in just the right way to help bring any viewer along with her - being able to hear the inner monolog, the rider's perspective, seeing what she sees as she sees it, (knowing when she's standing up on the pegs), it all helps convey the journey. It shouldn't matter that she's a woman, but realizing the inherit world dangers as lone traveler, compounded by imposed perceptions as a woman, makes following Norlay's adventures that much more inspiring. It is a privilege that she is sharing it all with anyone who happens to watch.

Another good one. For those of you wondering why the kid on the horseback did not come to Noraly's rescue as she struggled to cross the river, but stood there watching. One has to look at the world from his eyes, for he sees this tall gorgeous woman on a motorbike wearing all the armour, travelling on her own. Everything to him is intimidating yet he is in awe and he just doesn't know how to react. He was certainly thinking that Noraly was going to somehow fly over the obstacles. Fact is that if Noraly had asked him for help, I am sure he would have been happy to jump in to assist. Proud of you for doing it on your own without help...

To my mind, his thoughts were - that if he not happened to be riding along this way at this particular moment, this girl from another country would be crossing the river on her own. As would have been her choice. Now that he was there, she can still do this. But he would watch and be sure that she made the crossing okay. I'm sure he would have helped had Noraly got stuck and asked.

I'm a big fan of you Noraly. I know a lot about the equator (Quito, Mindo, Lake Quilotoa, etc..). I have a lot of respect for you and I admire your driving evolution, especially when you stopped driving heavy bikes. I also have a CRF 300L. I have some offroad experience that I would like to share with you: 1- Rivers are always crossed along the side in the direction of the current, for example, if the water comes from the left, always cross together the first stone on that side. Never get off the bike, because when the bike slides and deviates the stones and you keep the balance. always have a pair of dry socks to wear under a plastic bag and then put on wet boots. 2- in muddy terrain, loose rocks and slopes, it is better to lower the tire pressure (+- 14 psi). that way you have more traction. 3- The bag on top of the tank seems too big to me, try to fix it further forward, to have more space to move your body over the lower part of the tank, this is important for better control and balance. There are always small details to give you more confidence when driving, in this video I saw too many hesitations that usually lead to the bike losing its inertia. I wish you a great trip.

I walked it first to feel for large rocks or deep spots..... once on the other side.... placed two rocks about five meters apart and used that as my goal for the crossing..... returned to the bike and proceeded.... the old 450 Ducati handled it well. Milk and cookies await in Minnesota ..... be safe... :)

I remember when I was a kid, like 30 years ago, to see those huge cans in the farms... nowadays if you have cows a truck goes to take the milk, you don't have to take the milk anywhere.... I totally salute you! As you dismounted Alaska in the middle of that river I was so hoping you'd find secure enough footing with your left leg amongst the slippery rocks that would enable you to bring your other leg down comfortably. You kept the bike up, you kept trying, and most importantly you kept your cool!!! Simply marvelous. ;^)

Well done on not giving up on that river crossing ! I know the Rally isn't the heaviest bike and it feels light while your sitting on it but pushing it like that through the river is tough work and i'm speaking from experience

Not a good idea to stay that long on the river during rainy season. If it suddenly pours upstream she could get hit by a rush of water.

Hi Norali, i'm from Cali Colombia. Just to remind you that emergency services in this third world countries don't have helicopters and fancy ambulances so watchout on the twisty backroads. On the other hand, in Cali is Fanalca which the importer of Honda motorcycles for Colombia in case you need something. Good luck

In the 70's my brother and I took a trip in the Rocky Mountains. Old mining road, fire roads and hiking trails. He had a Triumph 650 and I had a BSA 441 Victor Special. On one over crossing the handle bar grip got so wet the motorcycle slipped out of it and fell completely underwater. Good there was two of us to get it out. Took a while to start it again. I admire you for doing this all alone. You are very wise in your choice of bikes! Best of luck!

No matter how tough the roads and terrain are, Norali always wins! Although we are watching only the edited parts but genuine adventure riders only know how much of your body and mind drains out for all these but still it's great! 👍🏼👌🏼💖

It's been a long time (since Basanti) that you road over a walking bridge. Well done on the water crossing, and giving "Alaska" some of the older bikes tricks. Another cliff hanger ... Wednesday cannot come fast enough Noraly.

Hey Noraly- Per the CRF300L/Rally manual, the recommended fuel octane number is 86 or above RON. 87 is regular over here and actually a better choice for you than Super (90-93 octane) Especially at altitude, you don't need the extra knock resistance of the higher octane fuel. It makes the bike harder to start on a cold day and there is no benefit to the motor and no quality difference. Save the gas $$ and time looking for Super. Higher octane only benefits a motor made to take advantage of that. One of the benefits of the 300L is that it runs better on the lower octane fuels available in remote parts of the world. That is a gift compared to some of the high-strung bikes. Ride Safe!

With all of the wonderful content out there I often find myself watching at 1.25x or 1.5x to get through it all. But with your channel I always watch at regular speed because I don't want it to end. Thank you for letting us experience the world through your eyes. Loving this trip so far.

It's funny but I know exactly what you mean - I do the same with other content - but when I tried running the last episode of this adventure at 1.25x, I just couldn't do it - the flow of the filming got too jumpy, the narrative seemed rushed and the music was spoiled - so, normal speed for Noraly it is. :)
