I like how it's made like a tutorial for making spicy hummus or something, although literally no one else will attempt this, not least because it is very clear it would be a total disaster. But this lady is a master of her craft, props.

Right? I was actually questioning during the whole video how many people ACTUALLY try and make this cake. Or any other cake of her. BUT I do have to say, it is still quite useful. I will be working with modelling chocolate tomorrow and I have learned some things from that video :)

If you have the time, I'd be REALLY interested to see more of your process! Like if you plan the cake out by drawing the design first on paper... using watercolors on canvas to see if the colors and effects would be something you'd want... testing out your techniques on swatches of modeling chocolate... As a fellow artist, I'd really love to see that :)

Great question, I actually wasn't sure so I gave it a try! A thin layer of vegetable oil applied to the dried wafer paper with a very soft brush did make it shiny, but I found using melted shortening also worked and was less "oily" to the touch. If you give it a shot, please let me know how it came out ❤️
